hey guys I know you guys have been looking forward to the tour for a while well recently did have a gaming room I just recently moved into a two-bedroom apartment so still kind of a work in progress but let's check it out here it is but one thing I own to represent the entire collection will go with this right here this is the wonderswan handy sonar and it is a sonar working one like you know for fish for the wonderswan and that's the kind of weird stuff that I like to collect so do I have you know a little samson and Pagani and all the expensive games no way but do I have some weird stuff yeah like I said this room is totally a work in progress I've only been actively collecting it since about 2012 so well I feel like my 1000 plus game collection is enormous I've received several comments that seem like disappointed I have a lot of collector friends with collections in the multi-thousand so maybe that's it but I'm still excited to finally show this off every game collection tells you a lot about the person who owns it they're also unique and I often find myself inspired by people's passion when they talk about their own there are things in my collection that you probably won't see in most collections and vice versa so let's start with the first thing you were expecting to see in my collection if you know me my wonderswan collection is currently about 80 titles deep and yes I am going for a full set there are over 200 Wonders fun games total between the wonderswan and the wonderswan color and a couple of real Holy Grail types that I don't really ever think I'm going to get like the mama Meetei which is a literal pregnancy tracking program for the wonderswan or tenori-on which is a prototype for the tenori-on instrument created by electra plankton creator Toshio why some items of interest here are my wonderswan handy sonar is a wonder board a wonderswan controlled robot bug which I have two different colors up and the Wonder which which is a consumer dev kit I'm a big fan of this system because it's both unique and actually has a lot of fun games for it if you're not familiar the wonderswan is a handheld console only released in Japan and other Asian markets and it comes in a ton of pretty colors this is the only full set I will probably ever try to complete that's usually not my style but I decided the phone would be a fun challenge for myself you guys might be wondering where my amiibo collection is and it doesn't fit anywhere in this room I have 146 amiibo with more on the way and no that's still not a full set I opened just about all of them the only exception to the rule is occasionally I'll notice an amiibo is going for a crazy amount of money and if I haven't opened it yet I hold off until the price calms down I don't plan on selling them and I'm definitely not a sealed collector so I don't really know why I do it I guess from the back of my head I've always got a little bit of fear that something awful will happen and I'll have to sell off the whole collection I really love these because they're just so nice reasonably priced figures I never got into figure collecting but when they were suddenly an option to have all of my favorite characters for under $15 a piece I went a little crazy while I may not have a good display solution for them yet I did get my first and probably only kiosk and amiibo Kea it weighs an insane amount so it's sitting on my floor currently until I can figure out how the heck to mount it without breaking my wall I plan to stuff this thing full-custom amiibos eventually I am particularly proud of my DS collection I have a lot of rare and interesting titles there's about a hundred and seventy five titles total here and a few more I don't count because I don't have the boxes for them I do have most of the rarest games for it like shepherds crossing to Sola to Robo and dokapon journey my most expensive DSi tum' is this pokemon soul silver figure bundle which was a Walmart exclusive still looking for that heart gold version some of the weirder items in here are Pokemon typing which comes with a wireless keyboard and not one but two bear digit blood glucose monitors for the Nintendo I also just completed a small collecting goal of mine which is getting every M rated game released on the TS something I've just started collecting but I'm really enjoying is vintage Nintendo toys mostly from the 1970s my goal with this collection is to eventually get every good play a toy designed for because I think he was brilliant and one of the most important figures in making Nintendo what they are today the ultra hand was a really meaningful purchase for me because it was the first commercial toy Yokoi invented by himself I also want to point out the lefty rx which has a pretty cool little story behind it this is an RC car and way back when RC cars were starting to become all the rage you COI devised a brilliant way to massively cut costs on this device make it only able to turn left because of this Nintendo is able to offer their car much cheaper than the competition I've also got a Nintendo toy light gun from the 1970s and I plan to get some more unfortunately some of the vintage toys are Holy Grail levels of rare but I'm excited to keep collecting what I can regardless okay so I have an absolutely massive amount of collector's editions to the point where none of them are even really displayed all that well a lot of them are stuffed sideways and several of them I haven't even gotten around to opening yet so I've cut back on getting collector's editions massively in the last year or so I used to get nearly every NIS collector's edition but just not practical now I've tried to limit it to stuff that I think I'll actually open and enjoy one of my favorite weird ones is this oxen-free collector's edition which came in an actual red mini cooler I'm a huge fan of the tale series so I also try to always get those collector's editions to one of my big vices is console variants I've had to downsize them a little bit because it was getting ridiculous but I'll show off a few of them I've got all six of the fantastic colors of n64 this was my first collection Bowl all the way back when I started collecting in 2012 and although it's not totally necessary I really like the way they look I also have the Pikachu Edition because I wanted it so bad as a kid I have three ps2 consoles the slim white one is the what I mostly use but my favorite color variant is this Japan exclusive midnight blue edition for playing my import stuff I also have this gorgeous Kingdom Hearts custom painted ps2 which sits looking pretty at some point another collecting goal of mine became pastel colored consoles I don't think it's one I plan to finish necessarily but I really loved the Tales of Symphonia edition Japanese GameCube the light pink Sakura Tison Dreamcast and several PS PS that fall under that pastel color category actually I have a lot of PSP consoles that kind of happened accidentally because there's just so many great colors I have a few 3d s console game boys and wonderswan and I keep most of them in a drawer so that they're easier to find when I go to play them speaking of drawers I bet you're wondering how everything is organized I have so many consoles on my shelf but you don't see a TV right I actually have almost nothing hooked up in any given time I don't even have a TV in my game room instead it's in the living room there's a monitor I have in this room that's hooked up to an Xbox one and a switch dock for when I used to be streaming but in general I set things up as I go to play them in order to keep the clutter down in these drawers I've put console bundles together in gallon-sized zip lock bags controller power video and memory cards if needed it's really easy to set up and put away so until I have a larger room with space for a real TV this is my solution the drawers are mostly in the closet which yeah it's a huge mess that's where my Japanese Gameboy sewing machine lives as well as my sake of pico stuff that ps3 basically all the large things I don't really have the space for right now the other drawers are for things like chargers headphones and other random equipment I also have one semi unrelated drawer you might find interesting starting in 2015 I started collecting badges from every convention I attended a lot of times it was just the ones I attended for work I go as a vendor with my store to a lot of local conventions like Emerald City Comicon Portland retro gaming expo and PAX West but I'm thankful to have been able to work at speak at or just attend a bunch of different events in recent years so I like to keep these as a reminder of how much I've grown career let's see what else is interesting here I collect box Game Boy Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games when possible the time of filming this some of my Pokemon games were actually on loan so this is mostly everything it's not a huge collection yet but it is growing last year I bought the full set of the fit generations games which are these odd Japan exclusive Game Boy Advance games they're all simple kind of artsy games Nintendo publish with a really basic graphics and bonus they all look great together on a shelf let's talk about my Animal Crossing collection it takes up half of an entire shelving unit I have every Animal Crossing game released including Japanese versions of almost all of them you might already know it came out in Japan as an n64 game and my copy is actually signed by the game's co-director Hisashi Nogami this section is a total mess with a ton of random knickknacks from which I have literally shoved into a box because I don't know how to play them I'm also pretty proud of my still growing animal Crossing's ID book collection which is right under all of this one of the most exciting parts of this collection is this Animal Crossing collectors tin it's full of stationery this was a bonus for picking up the game at Lawson's which is a convenience store chain in Japan I've been searching for this at a reasonable price for years and I finally found one on Yahoo auction I'm also well on my way to a full Animal Crossing amiibo card set I'm only about seven cards from having all of the ones released in the US which is about four hundred and fifty cards next to this I've really tried to downsize my plushie collection but it's so hard to keep under control when there are so many cute plushies in the world the to Kirby's were won from a crane game and everything else I either bought or received as like a birthday gift so normally I put everything in alphabetical order but Famicom cartridges are just too colorful and cute to resist organizing them by color one of the weirder ones I have in here is a via front of food o'clock which is a strip hanafuda game by hacker Internet hacker International made a bunch of unlicensed pornographic Famicom games and a few made it to the States published by fusion let's move on to the Vita which is another one of my larger collections I love the Vita it's one of my favorite consoles well it doesn't exactly have the widest library it does have a lot of JRPGs and I play a lot of those of course this collection has really been propped up by limited run games they've released so many video games and I have just about all of them there's still so many systems to go here so I'll start trying to run through them all so we can get to some of the more weird stuff I really like collecting for the PSP but I haven't been focusing on it for very long I usually try to pick up a game or two when I go to a retro game show but there usually isn't a huge selection so it's been kind of difficult next is 3ds which will probably someday be about the size of my DS collection quite a few limited editions and collector's editions in here some of which are too big to actually fit with the other games moving to the right I've got some Super Famicom and intento 64 games I don't love how the n64 games display but it's pretty expensive to collect box games so instead I collect box Japanese games as much as I can whatever the game is playable without knowing much of the language I get the Japanese version this is definitely a collection I want to work on expanding there are a ton of Super Famicom exclusive games but it's tough to add to the collection unless I just buy it online and that kind of takes the fun out of it next is my switch collection which I anticipate will grow a bunch I love my switch so much and I know the library of games is just gonna keep getting better I will say this is definitely the most boring looking of all the sections in my game room I am NOT a fan of the identical alread spines I used to collect pretty hardcore for the ps2 but I've slowed down a lot now that I've picked up probably 2/3 of the JRPGs for the system at least and some of the rare stuff like rule of Rose and haunting ground people also usually get a kick out of the rez trance vibrator and accessory only released in Japan please don't be weird YouTube comments for ps1 I have almost as many imports as I do us games not a huge focus of my collection since most of the games unfortunately play better and with less load times there's also not a ton of Xbox one or 360 or ps3 games in my collection just something I haven't really spent time working on yet all three would be really cheap to expand on but I just don't really have the room at the moment next up is the Wii and I'm pretty happy with where the sections at I had a few of them more hard to find titles like dokapon kingdom and the UK collector's edition of one of my favorite games Xenoblade Chronicles with a few exceptions a lot of this is fairly cheap to collect for and especially so a few years ago my Wii U library is pretty small and I'm not really adding much to it these days a lot of it has ended up being ported to switch but I've kept some of the real gems like game and Wario and Pikmin 3 I've spent very little energy trying to collect for the Gamecube even though I love the system I lost most of my GameCube collection when I went to college and the prices for a lot of these games just thing too much for me to try to recover it maybe someday it kinda starts to turn into a mess as we move further over there's my Sega Mark 3 collection a bunch of random guide books my family comes super famicom modems which are pretty neat and also my ps4 collection I feel like the closer you look at my collection the more weird stuff you're gonna notice an MSX a band I played eeeh Oh Ouattara supervision all sorts of random things here's the Victor Mack stunt master which is a really early attempt at virtual reality in course with the Sega Genesis in the Super Nintendo there's a ps2 branded stapler a Pokemon mini a bathroom scale that looks like a Sega Saturn a rare wonder which lanyard which was given out to people who picked up the game judgment silver sword a Japanese media recorder for the PSP that lets you record movies and TV shows - PSP Pro duo memory sticks yeah it's a little crazy but this is what my collection is all about delightfully weird stuff so one thing you might have noticed is missing is that I don't have a whole lot of truly retro American stuff like NES Super Nintendo Atari Genesis cetera I actually used to collect most of that stuff but I downsized a lot of it to make room for the games that I get more use out of I still love playing older games but I found that I typically be firing up something like the Sega 3d classics collection on my 3ds rather than dragging out the Genesis to play someday if I have a lot more room and might return to collect those things but for now most of my cartridge based retro stuff is either handheld systems or import systems like the Famicom before we move on from the game room I want to mention a few random things people might be curious about I don't necessarily recommend these shelves I have but they do work okay there to shelves from Target that I've literally stacked on top of one another I don't have a car so getting larger shelves is pretty out of the question at the moment I do however recommend the cheap drawers I have in my closet cords and clutter add up quick and this has saved me a lot of headache I may not have a ton of games in the cardboard boxes but I do try to put box protectors on games when I can most of these I got through retro protection comm because they sell some of the one-off sizes for various collector's editions right now I don't have room to expand the collection as it's pretty expensive to live in and around Seattle that's one of the major reasons I actually don't have a lot of super common games in my collection I actually typically don't buy common games that retail for ten dollars or less until I'm actually in the mood to play them obviously there are a ton of amazing games that fall into this category but waiting until I really want to play it helps me conserve space alright Lenalee I do want to show off my work desk which is in the main room of my apartment I moved most of my video game history books to the shelves here and if you've got a good eye you might notice that even my work space has a bit of a game theme going on can you guess it outside my game room I wanted to keep the apartment looking relatively normal and not too heavy-handed on the game references but a friend of mine streamer and youtuber circuits and coffee designs this tastefully animal nothing like space for me it's got the perfect cheery vibe for getting stuff done and has the right little motifs and colors to feel like Animal Crossing without just being a big old pile of merch alright that is it for my game room tour there was a lot to cover so I hope you enjoyed it and I hope to taught you some things about me and my collecting philosophy thank you so much for watching
