would you like to have a great sounding stereo system that even lets you put your TV sound through so that you can enjoy music and movies either way but you don't have any room for a great stereo system we might have the product for you today we're going to look at the kef ls60 wireless system before we go much further let's talk about kef as a manufacturer they were founded back in 1961 by Raymond cook that's over 60 years now they've been building Speakers by the 80s they were manufacturing some of the absolute best speakers on the market that were on the short list of Big Audio fans like myself of what we one day wanted to own kef currently builds some of the most amazing products on the market they've got the muan which is literally a qu of a million doll pair of speakers that's more than I make in a month by the way and they build the amazing blade which is a $35,000 pair of speakers that sounds absolutely stunning so they've got great heritage in speaker building now let's start talking about the ls60 wireless system so before we go much further let's talk about who is the customer for this because I think sometimes when you look at such an incredibly space-saving design there's a tendency to think that the customer would be someone maybe in a highrise in New York or LA or something like that to me the customer for this is virtually anybody that wants a speaker Great Sound but just doesn't have room for a big rack of equipment and doesn't want the visual intrusion of a great big loudspeaker in their room because these sound amazing but as you can see they take up almost no room The Connect app from kef is very easy to use Easy easy to download it easily connects to Wi-Fi which is of course the highest Fidelity Wireless option you get cobas dieser internet radio Amazon music and more and it's even run ready The kef Connect app makes using this product really simple now there are plenty of connections for your other gear we said it's a system this is a power amp preamp streaming obviously is built in you've got the speaker of course inside but you can connect all kinds of other gear you can connect a pho preamp so that you can play your turntable music through it you can connect a CD player for example it's even got this EC connection back here so that when you connect your television you're going to get the benefits of great sound quality from the TV but you can also use the remote that you're currently used to using so big time benefits when it comes to connecting the TV set another nice benefit the LS6 60 has really good base output on its own but if you use a pair of these in a large room you just might want to add a subwoofer and it even has a subwoofer out that you can put a big powerful sub for a large room or for that matter two big powerful Subs because both speakers have similar connections on the back the ls60 wireless system is also powerful remember that some Tower speakers that say that they're Amplified they're only amplifying the base section this is a completely self-contained system and these are DSP controlled amplifiers so the DSP the amplifiers all that electronic control is down here in the bottom of the speaker that affords you a couple of advantages number one in a DSP self-amplified system the engineers can tune the amplifiers specifically to the drivers that they're powering and secondly with the amps and the DSP all down here at the bottom it makes the speaker a little bottom heavy which means it doesn't Rock easily there's not much risk of it tipping over so this is actually a tri Amplified system there are three decks we said and each of those DSP controlled decks is running an amplifier the first is a 500 watt amplifier there are four woofers in this product so that 500 WT amp is only controlling the four woofers there's also a separate 100 watt amplifier that's being controlled by its own DSP for the mid-range driver and even this 3/4 in Tweeter gets its own 100 wat amplifier and you really can hear a lot of clarity when you're listening the notes are super precise because it's a tri Amplified system and obviously again the engineers can control because it's a DSP controlled product they can control exactly what each of the drivers is getting Jeff s Engineers did something really clever as well in terms of cooling the amplifiers you can actually see this space down at the bottom of the product so this is all open air and up here this is open air so warm air of course Rises and so just this simple convection system gives cooling to the amplifier section this product is going to run cool and be reliable for a long long period of time there's a couple of benefits we should mention about the slim cabinet obviously one is that it makes it so much less visually intrusive in a room there's actually a lot of cabinet volume here but it doesn't look that way because the cabinet is so slim and secondly there's an acoustical benefit because there's virtually no cabinet at all flanking this mid-range and Tweeter you don't get any of that kind of bouncing off the baffle effect that you would get in so many traditional wide baffle speakers you get this very wide open natural kind of a sound quality so it's both visually a benefit and sonically by the way if you're enjoying this video so far please remember to like And subscribe and hit that little bell icon down below so that you're notified every time we publish new content and please leave us a comment in the comment section as well we'll be happy to respond to it now because there's no front baffle that's really bulky it's a very narrow front baffle and because of the way these products are aligned you get What's called the single Apparent Source so when you're sitting on the couch enjoying the music or wandering around the room enjoying the music you're going to get a really good stereo image where listening to Thin Lizzy live Scott goram's guitar is in the left De John syes guitar is on the right it's almost like a stage part of that of course is the uniq driver that we'll talk about more in just a moment but look at how these drivers are physically aligned with each other with with the Tweeter right in the center of this driver and this driver located exactly equidistant from these two woofers remember that we've got a total of four woofers in this product all of it is lined up with each other so when we're sitting and listening it truly becomes a single point source to where the the sound appears to be coming at us all from the same spot very coherently because it is because of the way kef has lined this up and the narrowness of the front baffle so with kef we're frequently talking about almost always talking about what they call the uniq driver this is actually generation 12 now of the uniq driver they've been doing this for decades what does it mean it means that Tweeter is actually physically located in the center of the mid-range driver now we've probably all seen car stereo products from maybe from years ago where the Tweeter is suspended in front of the mid-range driver that's not uniq in uniq the Tweeter is actually physically in the center of the driver so what you get is this very coherent kind of image and I think the point where this was really driven home to me was when I was listening to a wonderful pair of in seiling C speakers at their experience Center you almost couldn't tell that the speakers were in the ceiling because the Imaging is so strong the uniq driver of course is core to what virtually everything that kef is all about in terms of bringing you and I what sounds like a really live Sound Stage effect rather than a left speaker and a right speaker there's another technology that kef has built into this ls60 and that's the meta technology for the Tweeter if you think about it the Tweeter is of course firing energy towards us sound but it's it's also simultaneously creating sound that's traveling backwards into the cabinet and that energy will then reflect off the back and the insides of the cabinet and come out through the Tweeter smearing the high frequencies a little bit you will never be aware of this really unless you hear a ke product that's one of the older ones without meta technology against one of the newer ones that has meta technology because with meta the high frequencies symbols flutes anything with high frequency energy really all sound so much more natural that meta technology is this really cool little disc with all kinds of geometric shapes in it to make that energy bounce around and disperse so that it doesn't just reflect off the back of the cabinet and then come forward to us and much clearer easier to listen to smoother high frequencies is the result a really clever thing that KF has introduced in this product and in their KC 62 subwoofer is what they call unicore technology these two woofers on this side are actually part of and physically connected to these two woofers here so this is not a traditional woofer with a motor structure behind it it's a motor structure with two woofers attached moving together and this is a Force cancelling system the net result of that is that you are getting because they're moving at the exact same time you're getting virtually no cabinet vibration at all and you can really hear it in this product how clean and clear the base notes are where the kick drum notes are because you've got all this base generating energy happening without that energy being transmitted into the cabinet and making the cabinet vibrate let's talk multiroom in let's say an apartment or certain other situations it can be very difficult to run traditional whole house wiring well you can do it wirelessly with this product because it can made up with other LS 60s to create a whole house system without needing to run whole house wiring because the products can simply talk to each other that's a real benefit in certain situations so you can use airplay 2 or chomecast or if you are a rune user through all of those Vehicles you can again create a multi-room system of the KE Wireless products talking to each other let's talk finishes the ls60 is available either in titanium gray which looks beautiful mineral white or the one that I like the best this beautiful royal blue finish in all three it looks great and again with the slim cabinet will fit into your home really nicely one final thing I want to to touch on with the ls60 and why we're so excited about this product we touched on kef's Amazing blade loudspeakers which again are about $35,000 for a pair now at $69.95 this doesn't sound quite as good obviously as a pair of blades which are amazing but it's also amazing when you compare how much of the technology that is housed in Blade is also in this speaker and of course this speaker has quite a few things that the blade doesn't because there are so many things that they've built in to make this really a complete system and not just a pair of speakers if you enjoyed this video please like And subscribe and again hit that little bell notification
