[Music] welcome to our channel i'm emma and i'm sophia and today we're making canadians 9 or cinnamon snails these are an incredibly popular pastry in danish bakeries and we like to make them at home because they're actually incredibly easy so stick around to watch how we make ours for the dough you'll need flour milk sugar eggs vanilla extract softened butter yeast cardamom and salt in terms of equipment you'll need a large mixing bowl a whisk and a stand mixer but if you want to do it by hand we would also suggest a wooden spoon to mix dough and a surface to knead the dough on to make the dough we're going to take our milk which is warm not cold along with the yeast sugar egg and egg yolk cardamom and salt and add that to our large mixing bowl and then whisking together to combine next we're going to take our butter along with the flour just reserving a little bit at the end it's always easier to add more flour than to work with a dry dough then we're just giving this a rough mix now that we have a rough dough we're going to take this to the mixer and knead it for about 10 minutes until smooth [Music] once you've kneaded your dough it should look like this it should be really smooth and soft and spring back when you poke it now it's ready to rise so she's so so put it back in the bowl cover it with a dish towel or some clay film and leave it for about an hour maybe a bit longer if it's winter after the dough is done rising we're gonna make our filling so we have brown sugar it can be either light brown or dark brown sugar along with cinnamon and then we have softened butter it can be salted or unsalted if you're using unsalted just add a pinch of salt to the filling as well to make the filling just add your brown sugar and cinnamon along with the butter to a bowl and mix together until you have a very soft mixture [Music] then you're going to turn out the dough onto a floured surface and start to make a large rectangle you're aiming for it to be about a quarter inch thick once your dough is at the desired thickness you're going to add the filling on top [Music] we like to use an offset spatula to spread this out but you could definitely use just a regular butter knife as well then we're going to start rolling the cinnamon rolls so we roll ours from the short edge because it gives more swirls in the final product to cut the rolls uh we like to measure with a knife so if you just measure about halfway and then measure each half into thirds and each third into halves you'll get 12 rolls about even thickness and then you can put those on a lined baking sheet ready to prove for the second time [Music] now that we've shaped the canadian snyder we've covered them with uh some cling film and we're gonna let them rise until they've about doubled in size or they pass the poke test and that's when we know that they'll be ready to bake so we'll be back when they're ready [Music] we've preheated the oven and now that these are done rising we're going to egg wash them and then put them in the oven to bake for about 15 minutes [Music] [Music] so now that they're baked and cooled i've just made a simple icing out of some icing sugar and water and we're going to ice them and then show you the final product [Music] it's good it's good [Music] [Music] thanks so much for watching this video and following along if you do try out this recipe please let us know in the comments how it goes subscribe below if you want to see more recipes from us and see you next time no i don't like you said it perfectly fine i know um [Music] you
