cater scilla is one of the most well recognized skateboarders today despite being only 18 years old he's well connected within the skateboarding industry from his friendship with andrew reynolds to his countless sponsors and the huge growing list of videos that he's featured in it's clear that cater settler has already made a name for himself in skateboarding but that doesn't mean that it came easy i mean after all even though he's only 18 years old he's already been skating for over 10 years this isn't a story of somebody who had all given to them and it isn't a story of someone who had to pioneer skateboarding into where it is today instead it's just a story of a regular kid that liked to skateboard and ultimately became very good at it so without taking up any more time this is the story of catercilla [Music] catercilla was born in encino california on october 16 2002 and his interest in skateboarding began at a very young age through his exposure to fingerboards later when he was seven years old his brother got a skateboard from his mom's co-worker which kate was upset about because he wanted a skateboard of his own too so after switching off with his brother's board for a while he went with his grandmother cvs and got his first skateboard a spongebob board although he would later get a real board from zoomies which was a plan b and then a girl board cater first started skating with his brother on the patio of his backyard there is a wooden curb high ledge there that they would put wax on and would skate a lot which definitely helped jumpstart his skateboarding skills to the place where they are today after about a year of skating in his backyard of his brother cater would go to pedalo skatepark for the first time and he continued to go there and skate with his brother his friends from school and really whoever else just wanted to go skate with him from then on he continued to keep skating and watch a lot of skateboarding videos on youtube from tutorials to his personal favorite skate video which is a compilation of rodney mullen skating named the best of rodney mullen aside from skateboarding caterer just did regular kid stuff he liked video games he had a messy room and he had to worry about late assignments in school to back to a b but it's not an f right now because i missed this one assignment and i made it up and then simon flips and you [ __ ] suck at those but as cater kept on skateboarding and kept on getting better and better he eventually got his first sponsor the drop although he was shortly later kicked off or dropped off you could say for putting one of their shirts on the ground but in his own words he was hyped to get kicked off because he knew the company was whack although shortly after that he would eventually run into somebody that would change his life forever that being no one other than andrew reynolds himself through andrew cater would join the carcass crew of andrew reynolds daughter jay thorpe from death wish kevin long and andrew reynolds himself caters to the sign of baker skateboards as an amateur in 2016 making him only 14 years old at the time that he was signed and also one of the youngest people to ever sign a baker at the time and in may of 2017 the community of skateboarding was introduced to cater for the very first time in his feature in the baker ams video hey cater what hurts the most i love that in the video kater's skateboarding just stands out be it from his talent and ability to land such hard tricks with so much style or because his board just looked so big on him since then he has appeared at numerous skate demos for the team and in late september 2017 he signed with america and had his first official part release in america's young americans video a few days prior to the video being released he also had his first interview that was uploaded to a thrasher magazine youtube channel where you can get a better understanding of who cater is as an individual i like getting massages shit's [ __ ] nice as [ __ ] that's the funniest one neighborhood pero it's pretty much just like hijinks it's like people games into fights and like hispanic people stomping people's heads out and [ __ ] it's so sick in 2018 cater switched from america to vans and had released a number of partnered shoes with them he also had his own part featured on the transworld skateboarding channel and he also did an impressive drop in at the dime glory challenge [Music] it was no secret that caterscitla was really breaking into the skateboarding scene from all of his features and skateboarding videos to him going to countless skateboarding events and also to his quickly rising instagram following he was also beginning to make a living from skateboarding too from his royalty checks from vans to his growing list of sponsors but despite all of this he was still doing regular kid stuff i just go live i just do normal 16 year old things like hang out with friends that's basically it just hanging out with friends skate skate parks i guess and then just like i don't know whatever just do whatever i can't move into my own house i can't worry about like taxes or some [ __ ] i have to like like i just do fun stuff for now he still lived with his parents he was still struggling in school and he was still learning how to drive then in 2019 the month of january would change cater's life forever to start with he had an am scramble part release followed by a spitfire part released two days later and then to top it off he went pro for baker four days later after that and in the same year cater also managed to make his entry into supreme's skateboarding team as well and in december 2019 when baker 4 released cater had the opening part since the release of baker 4 cater has been keeping it kind of low key with him only releasing a few clips onto his instagram throughout the year and also announcing his departure from vans with his thank you vans part at this point cater is now 18 and the biggest change that i really see is that he seems to love posting himself smoking weed onto his instagram story he has now grown out of his hair and his voice has gotten significantly lower as for skateboarding he's still obviously good like really good i mean i guess that's what happens when you're pretty much andrew reynolds's young prodigy and to be honest the story of catercilla is far from being complete he's still so much more ahead of him and as long as he sticks to skateboarding and doesn't get distracted by drugs or alcohol like antoine dixon or some of the other skaters out there it's safe to say that he has a very bright future ahead of him thank you everybody for watching and i just want to take a second to wish you all a merry christmas and happy holidays i know this year has been the easiest for any of us but i hope my videos made things a little bit better for you and hopefully we'll get a better year in 2021 which is actually the next time that you'll see me because i'm gonna take a little break i'm gonna take two or three weeks off or so just take some time to think of some new video ideas and come back with a fresher better start to
