[Music] hey k-pop fam every success story has humble beginnings and k-pop is no exception hard work and determination play a role in an actor company success and when the artist hits it big so does the company in this multi-part video series we'll be taking a look at companies that were not doing well until they were saved by their artists huge success there are so many artists to cover but before we get started please do me a huge favor hitting those like and subscribe buttons for me follow me on twitter and instagram dared to be while you're at it and now let's get started with part one of another k-pop history video i used story as one for the books like many wannabe entertainers she had dreams of making it big but she struggled in the beginning getting 20 rejections from various companies including jyp but low end entertainment saw something in her back in 2007 and made her a trainee she debuted in 2008 with the song mia or lost child but it didn't meet the company's expectations iu looks back at her debut as one that allowed her to continue to grow as an artist and work harder on the next go-around after moderately successful comebacks hers in 2010 changed the course of her career forever she came back with the song good day and finally achieved the massive success she long deserved the song put iu on the map and helped establish here as one of the top solo artists in korea the song was so big that it was near the top of the charts in both 2010 and 2011. the girl next door continued her success in the following years and this allowed lowen to expand and buy shares and other large agencies low end entertainment is now cacao m and is a much bigger corporation but they owe some of it to iu for helping them to get to where they are today [Music] founded in 2003 ulum entertainment was most known for artists like epikai and nell but with the reputable epic high's departure ulum was placed in a bind luckily though ulum had infinite their very first idol group debuting in 2010 with the song come back again coming from humble beginnings in a problematic dorm and little to work with the group's fame didn't come quickly but after a very heavy promotion push in 2011 infinite eventually took off with songs like be mine in 2011 and the chaser in 2012 infinite's newfound popularity at the time finally brought them out of their environment pride in their music was always apparent in ulum entertainment and infamous major success ended up rivaling the big three companies as they continually landed in the top 10 for several years in physical album sales categories william entertainment used the cash infusion from infinite success to begin training new groups lovelies followed in 2014 and golden child in 2017 as well as rocket punch in 2019 and drip in in 2020. while all the groups have been great for ulam's bottom line none of this could have happened without infinite success in the early 2010s has had a prolific career so far and is now regarded as one of the top solo artists in k-pop but once upon a time she was a nobody not for long though coming from an unknown company mnh entertainment chunga entered the popular k-pop production show produce 101 and instantly made a name for herself after her massive success of the show and her debut with ioi in 2016 changa continued that trend she capitalized on both after ioi disbanded and later went on to have her own solo debut in 2017 with the song why don't you know [Music] all of this benefited mnh entertainment which was able to use changha success to fund the debut of bandit in 2019 and they seem to be doing well so far source music entertainment debuted their first in-house group g-friend in 2015 with blast speed through a series of events like worldwide coverage and their infamous stage slipping viral video of megustas 2 which showed how they could perform under pressure to the growing popularity and viral friendly nature of their music g friend reached new highs by the time ruff came around their hard work has paid off and source music entertainment has become a valuable company that even big hit entertainment sought to acquire it in july 2019. g friends great success was all thanks to making these amazing chapters in their run to which they have made a wonderful story in the making so far [Music] oh you know i have to talk about my girl boa here all right anyway she was the first k-pop artist to achieve stardom outside of korea and top the japanese oricon music charts and her success of japan and korea came at the right time in 2003 just as boa's popularity was growing across asia her label was hitting hard times sm entertainment was the leading korean music label but it was on rocky ground during that period the company's beloved axe hot and ses both disbanded and their investments into subsidiary labels and debut acts like milk failed and xinhua left the company in july of 2003 after their contract expired as a result sm was losing the confidence of its investors and sm entertainment founder isuman said in the interview that boa's massive success in japan in those critical years helped save the company and prove that the company's investment in the japanese market was lucrative and more importantly could be reproduced her success opened the door for sm's next group tvxq to debut and tackle the japanese market simultaneously as well as allow them to set their own monumental records in asia everything happens for a reason and sm and even kpop arguably would not be where it is today if it weren't for boa and her groundbreaking foray into japan [Music] at the risk of being punny or dad jokey here's one of the biggest hits in the k-pop entertainment world wink no you only get one wink big hit entertainment in its early days had artists like 2 am and 8 under their belt with some respectable success they even debuted the short-lived glam in 2012 but the label lost out on a new girl group due to various scandals and with 2am and 8's departure they bet everything on the debut of bts in 2013. no one predicted at the time what bts would turn into and the group almost expanded at several points in their career but as almost everyone knows because we all know they stuck with it and really made it big [Applause] [Music] [Applause] bts's perpetual growth over the years landed him to become one of the biggest artists in the entire world and big hit has ridden the wave big hit saw incredible growth so much that korea's economy grew and saw a boom in tourism thanks to bts big hit turned their fortune to acquiring other k-pop labels like source music home of g-friend and plutus entertainment home of 17 and new east and also uh after school on orange caramel and pristine but you know let's get into that later just to name a few going from a label scrambling to get back on their feet to become a force that shook the industry big hit went public in late 2020 and recently changed her name to high corporation as they aspire to be the new leader and face the next generation of k-pop acts bts's success is an amazing journey that we've all witnessed and with that the label was saved hey that's it for today friends as i said this is only meant to be part one of the series on where i go over k-pop's artist success stories that save their company stay tuned for part two next until then don't forget to hit
