day another Garden cleanup we're back in the poe again this is the third um season for this Garden so far this Garden has been a bulb garden with daffodils tulips Oriental poppies and then when those were passed the annual poppies came up in this bed and the Larkspur and the oxid daisies and the clematis and then um and a lot of primroses now it's time to clean out these beds completely I've pulled out the lar spur I'm saving all the seeds and just dropping them right back into that garden bed so they can come back next year and I've got some dalas growing there in the middle they'll just keep on going all the way through Autumn a lot of things back there need to be cleaned up and I'm ready to put in these everlastings because I'm going to make this an everlasting flower bed for the last season and these little seedlings have just been waiting to get into the ground I just hadn't had a chance to do it so we have straw flowers and Solas and um globe amaran and what else oh status and here are those little lavenders dare I try to put my little lavenders in the ground here in the P have been host to many different plantings so far this year so after digging up all those plantings which was the large ER the Oriental poppies and there was some cat mint in here which I moved all kinds of things just needed to be pulled up after pulling those up this bed really needed to be replenished with some compost so with my weasel claw here I really worked to the soil work some more compost into the soil and inadvertently I have dug up a lot of the bulbs that were in here but it's just so easy to push them right back into the ground because the soil is just so fluffy right now and nice I'll just push those bulbs in with my fingers and get these little seedlings in well when I was digging in this planter it looks like I Disturbed a lot of little creatures the ants are going crazy and I discovered little tiny lizard eggs when cover those right back up those are the little blue lizards that's that run around this Garden so cute you say I'm planting an everlasting Garden well I'm putting plants in the garden at this time that look just as good when they're dry as they do when they're growing in the ground and some of the most popular of those would probably be your straw flowers your uh Globe Amor ramps any of your amirs your status tanzy credia um this is one of my favorites ammobium I just love this a lot of grasses would fit into that category also colula sunflowers are pretty good when they're drying not as good as straw flowers but this uh oh what have we got here uhoh we have an assassin bug who's come to the Garden is this just the weirdest looking creature well like I said you get a lot of visitors in your garden some welcome some unwelcome but I don't see any harm in this guy anyway so here is one of my absolute favorites isn't this the cutest little thing in the world this is called ammobium or or it's also called winged Everlasting or pearly Everlasting this is this one is uh perennial most of them are not perennial most of them are annuals you have to put them in every year but uh let me just walk around and show you where I put them and what they look like as they're growing you or just a handful of the dried flowers and the everlastings that you can plant in your garden in your Everlasting Garden because roses and certain grasses and even weeds make wonderful everlastings there's straw flowers and some roses here's some craspedia more straw flowers I really love the straw flowers and Yaro okay always Yaro and I'm looking for the grasses because those can be really beautiful I only tried two grasses this year quaking grass which is this one this is another quaking grass and I also try bunny tals which I do not see here and here you can see a lot of wonderful seed pods and heads and mosses so to grow an everlasting Garden could include a lot of different plants but I only have so much space and I want want to dedicate it to the colorful flowers so so these seeds are all pretty easy to find and you can always find some used books on planting Everlasting Garden these are the last little plants that I need to get out into the gardens and my Greenhouse has been completely cleaned out so it really served me well this year I got a lot of plants in not as many as I'd hoped I just didn't have enough time but I did a lot of things that I'm pretty happy about these are the Tasha tutor primulas and these need to go in a cool shady area so I haven't found a home for them yet isn't it funny how you can plant something all in the same soil all under the same conditions and you'll get one of them looking like this and you'll get some right next to them looking like that all puny and weird anyway I think they're getting too hot out here cuz the leaves are starting to Crunch up so I really need to find a nice cool Garden for these plants Stella this Stella in a clean Greenhouse everything every tray has been emptied everything's been straightened out in here and it's just too hot to even be in here I'm always looking for a good place to plant my wagon wheels and so inside my wagon wheels folks I have planted straw flowers these were seedlings that I started in the greenhouse along this edge here I've got it covered because of the chickens obviously I put some seeds for globe amaranth and so far I've not seen anything germinating yet and I don't know if I had some bad seed or what along this row I've got some very very tall pink zenyas because zenyas dry really beautifully I just planted the sewed this seed five days ago and I've already got nice little ceilings coming up the the zenas are so great because they come in so many colors and shapes and sizes and they're really really trustworthy this is also a Bed full of zenyas right here the woven beds have dollas in them and seah Holly is solia and here we have some more pearly Everlasting seedlings from the greenhouse and Status purple status and pink status okay every day I check to see if these little eggs have hatched these lizard eggs and I can see a baby lizard right here you can see his a little head if you look carefully him I think it's great if you look around your garden and find out how many little creatures are dwelling in your garden area so much life going on underneath the soil and on the leaves of course there's a lot of life that you don't really want to have such as chewing insects and aphids and caterpillars but there's also a lot of really helpful wildlife in your garden you can also see here oh isn't that cute that little Broken Egg so somebody must have come out oh look here he comes here he comes look he's coming out he's so [Music] little hey there little lizard this a safflower and safflower comes in a pale yellow and an orange at least those are the kind I got and these were also planted from seed and they sprouted pretty quickly too now keep in mind that it is mid July right now and I am still putting in seeds so you know you really can do that this is more straw flowers I love straw flowers cuz they really keep their color they really keep their shape for a very very long time after you pull them out of the garden it's also a good time to get in there and cut some of your plants way down that have already bloomed and you want to get those seeds off of them so after the seed heads have turned brown you want to cut your Fox gloves way down to the ground like these I also put in some Anis Hipp hsip in here I also put in Holly Hawk seed and the Holly Hawk seed are coming up so these are all things to look forward to for next year they won't do anything again this year except for that hsip which probably will uh but as you can see this fox love will grow all through the winter and it will produce flowers for me again it's actually a perennial Fox Glove Warner I did attempt put the little lavenders some of the baby lavenders and some pots so this was the mother plant which isn't doing that great but here are the babies and I say they've grown probably 3 or 4 inches since I took the plugs the cuting from the mother plant and just pop pop them all in this corner in pots I just think they're going to do better in pots because the ones that I put straight in the ground no matter what kind of soil I use they end up looking like this which is not too good some of these I'm experimenting with in pots because they're grasses and I just don't want grasses growing all over my garden so this is quaking grass and then I have another one with bunny tails and this is tanzy which I also know can take over another great plant for drying is rudia and when you do the rudia don't dry them upside down just dry them right in upright in a pot Beav few in a pot oregano not such a great dried flour but a beautiful cut flour once you get those flowers going really really beautiful and here I put some Billy buttons which is cres pedia which are little uh yellow balls little yellow balls and along here more Globe amarath seeds I only see a couple sprouting up scabiosa that'll be good for next year that one's a perennial another planting along the fence where I cleared out some patches this is where the loopin bloomed earlier some of the loopin and now they are done because they do not like the hot weather and I sprinkled in here Holly Hawk seed there's a tiny little Holly Hawk already coming up and once again that will not do anything but grow this year and through the winter and we not got any blooms on that until next year but I also sprinkled in here some florette Farm zenas which were sent to me thank you very much for that and I'm looking forward to seeing those starting to come up because those are supposed to be pretty special vas so keep an eye on that Larry sages are also very good um to use as dried flowers and this one is just now starting to put out some Bloom now before I cut everything down to the ground that was previously growing in this Garden hey you know that looks pretty good actually for oregano that's dried pretty nicely you still have that purple color anyway I T took all the heads off so that I have the seedhe heads and I am always fascinated by the Creative Design of seed heads when I say Creative Design I am talking about our creator who made all the flowers all the seeds all the plants all the Earth the Sun the moon and the stars everything that helps us to grow these beautiful plants in our Gardens but what fascinating little bits of design are these seeds these are the larper seeds are inside here we've always got the poppy heads and this is the Nigella or love and a mist from my vantage point up here in an upstairs bathroom I can get a really good view of the layout of this particular plot in the P so you can get a good idea of how it is the beds are laid out and as I said this is stage three in the Poe today which is the Everlasting Garden so right now we're just in the sewing stage the seeds have been sewn and pretty soon well I'd say in about a month we should have some beautiful boisterous color in here uh very tall plants most of them and colors from pinks to oranges some yellows some some uh lemon yellows butter yellows all kinds of beautiful blooms in here and that will be so exciting to see one of the great things about being a B to view this Garden from this upstairs bathroom window is the fact that I can water it from here with the shower head I can reach nearly the entire garden with this thing makes it very very convenient true that nature is the visible Garment of God and nowhere can that be seen more readily than in your garden and whether you have a little postage stamp Garden or a window box or a terrarium or a vast Garden full of flowers and vegetables whatever you have I hope that you can find peace and Tranquility in that Garden space and it's a great place to meditate on the good things that we have in this world and a good place to pray and right now we certainly all need some prayer so I hope that you will pray for our country in your country wherever you are and I wish you all well until next time for from Hop Long Hollow this is Cherry bye-bye
