[Applause] hey everybody Welcome Back To The Late Show folks my guest tonight is a delightful actress who holds the record for the most Emmys won by an actress in a single role you know her from Seinfeld The New Adventures of Old Christine and vep she now stars in the film Tuesday please welcome a National Treasure Julia Louie drus [Applause] [Music] wow thank you thanks guys you can take your nap a short one lovely to see you again well it's oh hello it's it's lovely to be here it is in fact I adore you so I'm happy to be here well I adore you too I'm very lucky to be your friend and it's nice to see your creative friends do things they've never done before like one of the things I admire about you is that you're always challenging yourself with new things including your your very popular podcast wiser than me which I will have America no just won the 2024 Webby for podcast of the year come on come on you made it that's it I made it I made it I hit the big time and like all all Webby acceptance speeches they can only be five words correct would you mind sharing with the people what your acceptance speech was are we on CBS it's cool listen to old ladies mother I'm not sure what part of that a little bit of that might that's one word that last word is one I guess it is 100% one I don't know and it's plural so yeah take that to your grammar class where did you uh where did you get the idea for the series why do you want to do this I'll tell you I got the idea because I saw this extraordinary documentary on Jane Fonda did you see that yeah and I was really Blown Away by the scope of her life and her experience and the the the variety of things that she had done and it got me thinking wow you know we never hear from old women that we don't we hear from old men sorry we do and but we don't really hear from old women and their wisdom and I thought I need to hear from old women I do I personally do sure and so that is that is the conceit for these conversations I sit at the feet of these wise older women and I get their their Insight their wisdom from the front lines of life and what and how how any wisdom that stuck with you how have you been en wisened oh God I mean how long is this show I mean it I mean for real it I I mean well for example yes Ruth uh Ruth Reichel um said you need to keep trying things that scare you which was particularly amazing because doing the podcast scared the hell out of me and um and I took that to heart and I mean we recently had juli Andrews on and I know Dame Julie Andrews Wonder pardon me I didn't say what a delightful person to talk to yes indeed so so now you're a host now you're now now you're a podcast host you you interview people for uh for for one of your jobs but you're ALS you're also a guest all the time like look at you right there yeah look at it you want me to interview now you now oh or you could just do the show if you wanted to you could just do the show and I would take just a brief nap that would be just lovely what do you like more do you like being over there or do you like being the interviewer I like it here why well I used to like it over there yeah yeah well I mean um I mean it's not that I don't like what I'm doing but um I it's the specific subject matter that intrigues me but really I'm an actor and that's my first love first and foremost like I love it I do point the camera at me at [Music] me uh we're going to take a quick break here but right back with more Julia Louie drus everybody [Music]
