i mean i just explained to you that it's the hardest song and you guys are asking me to sing it i know what you say about me hey it's joshua bassett i'm going to be playing a game of song association with l while social distancing ella's going to give me a word and i'll have 10 seconds to sing or wrap that word into a song i am predicting now that i am going to flop and i'm going to be a complete wreck and embarrass myself in front of however many people see this video so you've been warned before we jump in i gotta say uh check out my song common sense and be sure to follow me for some jackson whitney houston type of song somewhere in that world something that makes you move something that's got maybe even maybe a little jackson 5 funk in there bring a lot of that old stuff back and uh get groovin comment i don't know if l did this on purpose but um i mean common sense tells me kiss the girl goodbye common sense tells me leave it all behind that song was a bit of a journey we tried that song three or four times with different producers and whatnot we ended up going back to the one that was essentially just me by myself you know i just had my computer set up and i hit record and i did uh six takes and i i cut it together and recorded the guitars and did some backup vocals and it was a very simple simple process but sometimes that's that's where the best work comes from is not you know over producing it or over complicating things just being as honest as you can in that moment i guess i have to [Music] common sense tells me kiss the girl goodbye and common sense tells me leave it all behind common sense says the girl's not worth my the common sense ain't coming you come to mind [Music] no no okay this is not cool i swear they're doing this okay this is another one of mine um i know what you say about me i hope that it makes you happy can't seem to get me off your mind that song is a very high song and uh the guitars and everything is uh it's gotta be very exact um and so that was a bit of a reach uh in the studio going over that over and over and over again and uh let's see if we can do a little a little mini um i mean i just explained to you to fix you fix you coldplay boom okay this game might be easier than i thought but i don't want to jinx it here we go miss this is a the one that comes to mind is an andy grammer song and i promise you this you're gonna miss miss me boom easy between oh drink a baby [Music] and people you know [Music] i'm thinking of the song between the bars by elliot smith but i can't i can't recall when he says between in the song i have no idea when he sings between this is really awkward believe oh i believe in yesterday [Music] yesterday love was such an easy game to play now it look now i need a place to hide away oh i believe in yesterday oh i believe in yesterday boom a song that made me fall in love with music is yesterday by paul mccartney um especially when i found out the backstory of that that he dreamt up that melody and sort of uh you know he workshopped it around asked all his friends and nobody had heard it before and and so he thought okay i guess i did come up with this idea it's it's uh melodically lyrically instrumentally perfect it's one of those songs you know and probably my favorite song of all time and uh it's got a very special place in my heart hi watermelon go for for long drives and blasted start to finish hello hello isn't me all looking for i had a split second decision there where i was like do i do the adele one or do the classic and uh i chose the classic but it does good too don't you think i didn't think of a doubt fall does falling work if i use a variation of fall um falling again i'm falling again i'm falling hairstyles again can't go wrong my dream collaboration has got to be ed sheeran um or harry styles either one i wish i wrote cherry by harry styles but that's that's his thing you know it's like i couldn't i couldn't uh i couldn't pull off cherry like harry styles pulls off cherry i think an underrated ed sheeran song for sure has saved myself um the lyrics in that song are just that that whole song is incredible i mean i i love them all dude his entire divide album tenerife c is my favorite that's another underrated one for sure um or uh you need me i don't need you i'm all over the place sorry especially when he does it live he does a live version of this with a loot pedal for like 10 minutes every show i've never seen him live but i've seen every clip from every show he is just a beast and such a huge inspiration and working with him to be the dream deep don't know these words [Music] rolling in the deep you had my moon inside your head and you played it and you played it to the beat i gotta brush up on my adele i don't i don't know the words that one but i do know that rolling in the deep part of it so that's all that matters right call um hey i just met you and this is crazy but here's my
