it's a little loud brother darren um verses one through seven verse one says lord you have been favorable to your land you have brought back the captivity of jacob you have forgiven the iniquity of your people you have covered all their sin salah you have taken away all your wrath you have turned from your fierceness from the fierceness of your anger restore us oh god of our salvation and cause your anger toward us to cease will you be angry with us forever will you prolong your anger to all generations will you not revive us again that your people may rejoice in you show us your mercy lord grant us your salvation grant us your salvation lord in the name of jesus we come as the people of god lord first of all proclaiming lord god how great thou art how great thou art lord how great thou art even in the midst of circumstances how great thou art even in the midst of trials and tribulations lord how great thou art even in the midst of pestilence lord how great thou art lord thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you lord we recognize and we acknowledge that we're not here because of our goodness we're not here because lord we've been so careful but lord we're here because of your mercies that are fresh and renewed every day thank you lord thank you for fresh opportunities thank you for fresh merchants thank you for fresh grace thank you lord thank you lord god the devourer came to destroy us but lord you did not let him come our way father though we have walked in bereavement with family and loved ones far and now lord though many of us know many who are wrecked in pain and with sorrows and grief and physical illness lord we come still announcing and proclaiming that the lord is good and for that lord we say thank you we action our lord that you will continue to bless the remaining days and nights of this revival bless pastor told and lord to continue to go upward thank you lord jesus pray for the souls that will be revived thanks you for the lord to stand before you on this evening and bring the greetings for this joint revival after the year we've had i will say that we need some revival would you all say would you all agree with that psalm 85 6 will thou revive us again that that thy people may rejoice in thee the psalmist was asking god to revive his people bringing them back to spiritual life god is capable of reviving both churches and individuals he can pour out his love on us renewing our love for him if you need revival in your church your family or your personal spiritual life ask god to give you a fresh touch of his love and he'll do it and that's what we're here for this evening that's what we're here for this week to get a fresh touch of his love because we do we need reviving on behalf of our pastor dr lester l cannon senior and the entire cornerstone missionary baptist church family on behalf of pastor bates and the mount zion family we welcome you now if this was a game game seven of a nba final i would say quarter number one he was there for quarter number one the pastor told spoke to you about unsinkable in mark 4 35 41. quarter number two he talked to you about the secret is out judges 16 15 back to who the hallelujah belongs to yeah we've been through a lot but god has been immutable he has not changed he's the same if there's any distance between us and god we've moved he's still in the same place and my hallelujah belongs to him amen all praises to god i'm just glad to be here and wow i said i'm going to stay online the first two nights so that i can you know catch it online i'd have to make that drive i told my daughter and we'll go wednesday and thursday at cornerstone where it's a little closer circumstances change i said come on brill let's just go on and go so we got the kids in the car and we went and we both shouted the whole way home oh my stars it would not have been the same if we had a stayed home and watched it um online i am happy to be here and and glad to be participating uh for these few moments on this program um i'm going to uh deal with the word restoring i'm so happy and inspired by sterling and um by my young cousin i've never heard her speak i've never heard her say much of anything but morgan got up here and done that thing last night i am so proud of you yeah give her a hand she did a great job and sterling did um an excellent job as well and it is my task to talk about restoring and psalms 85 verse 6 says will doubt not revive us again that the people may rejoice in thee restoring we've talked about recovering returning and now restoring i remember when we were youth and young adults there was a song that we used to sing and it said take me back take me back dear lord to the place where i first receive you take me back take me back dear lord where i first believed there's no joy like your initial joy when you first receive christ you're you're beside yourself you're happy you're you're excited you're full of joy you are exuberant as owens would say um in survival kit the first stage in survival kit is the excitement stage but those of us who went through uh survivor chris you would you was ready to talk to a rock uh to a tree to a tree stump to a wall anything because you are so excited about this wonderful thing that has just happened in your life and you want to tell everyone you know and hands down is not up for discussion or debate that the best youth and young adult ministry of all times was when we grew up at a morning star and here at cornerstone baptist church under our pastor dr lester l cannon senior we were excited to be in church we were excited to be at class to have activities we went to visiting churches conventions conferences fellowshipping with every what other church is citywide revivals youth classes sunday night live uh all around looking for a church to go to on sunday nights we were having fun we were growing we were laughing we were studying god's word pastor took us through a 60-week discipleship it's only 52 weeks in the year right we know that was longer than a year he took us through a 60-week discipleship class and guess what we were sad when it ended because we have become so accustomed to coming to that class into learning and to growing and and we knew and learned how to share our faith the conferences on how to share our faith uh pastor bates accepted his calling when he was 14 years old and we traveled with him everywhere every church was calling him to do a revival or whatever and we were up to do an a in a b selection you know before he preached and we went everywhere with him supporting him singing fellowshipping genuine friendship among us no stress no drudgery no begging or pulling no one had to make or force us to go to church no bribes uh to get us to participate we didn't see it as i have to but rather i want to i get to i can't wait to but now it's just the opposite there's no joy there's no excitement no exuberance now is i have to go to church i gotta go back down there to that church again or we find every excuse not to go and even before the pantheon we can't blame it on the pandemic this was going on before the pandemic this was a prevailing attitude and posture of the way too many believers we see it as a duty rather than devotion we've lost our joy and now the only thing that brings us back is trouble and trials heartache and pain near-death experiences loved ones dying but my question is why does there have to be tragedy before there's transformation why does there have to be chaos before there's change why does there have to be devastation and doom before there's decision why does there have to be eviction before there's excitement about who god is 119 verses 9 through 11 says how can a young man keep his weight pure by living according to thy word with my whole heart have i sought thee oh let me not wander away from thy commandment thy words have i hidden in my heart that i might not sin against now against god let us do it now ask god to restore us unto the joy of our salvation take us back take us back to our joy take us back to our love take us back to our peace take us back to our excitement our kindness our gentleness our faithfulness take us back to our love for one another i want him to be in the sanctuary around my brothers and sisters in christ we are in dwell once but we need to be filled on a daily basis lord help me to live my life in a way that pleases you and bring you the most glory take me back take me back dear lord to the place where i first believed amen one hallelujah if god has done something for you that you know you couldn't have done for yourself would you give him the best praise you can give him come on all over this house come on why don't you open your mouth i know you got your master and just tell god how wonderful he is how great he is hallelujah come on i dare you to open your mouth and bless him oh god hallelujah bless your name bless your name glory to god i was glad when they said unto me let us go into the house of the lord they used to sing a song back there that says i was glad glad to be at the service one more time i don't know about you but i'm excited to be here tonight when i look back over my life and i look back over this past year just the fact that i can come in this house and lift my hands and praise god and hear the word of god i came expecting something from god tonight i don't know about you but i love god more than i did on yesterday hallelujah on tonight we give honor to dr cannon and to dr bates amen can we celebrate can we celebrate them tonight hallelujah we thank god for what we have received on these last two days i don't know about you but i've been blessed i've been blessed i wish he could just preach friday and saturday and amen just stay here amen i tried to get him to stay one more night and amen but he had to go listen tonight this week we've been blessed this week by dr tolin morgan and he really doesn't need an introduction amen but to be politically correct tonight amen we thank god for this mighty man the god who comes from warner robbins georgia amen pastor of the heavenly father his son our savior the lord jesus christ who hung for six hours one friday and died until death died three days later he comes out of the grave not as a weakling but with all power in his hands 50 days later he sends the holy ghost to reside in the preside on the inside of us and what a joy it is for us to not only be his creation but to be his children and we thank god for this undeserved privilege of coming together again in the house of prayer to glorify our risen christ for he is not dead he is alive and we thank god for this opportunity of worship we honor the bishop the pastor the overseer the angel of this house pastor l l cannon come on church let's give god praise for this man of god come on we can do better than that let's celebrate this man of god hallelujah 42 years of pastoral service to this extension and expression of the body of christ and we celebrate him uh not only do we celebrate him but we celebrate the fragrance of this house his wonderful wife that sits and stands with him come on church let's give god praise for her lady cannon god bless you amen amen we praise god for her and for the cornerstone church family amen we thank the lord for you and for again this opportunity to share in worship um i haven't i've only been back in service with people for the last this will be the third month now and um you know i'm not going to act like i've been in church for the last year i haven't so to be in the presence of god and in the presence of god's people is a privilege amen and a joy to be gathered together again in the house of prayer we salute and celebrate my friend and brother pastor maurice bates of the mount zion church [Applause] we've had the honor to share with that expression of the body of christ for the last two nights i again want to thank god for your brotherhood and your hospitality man and we thank the lord uh for you and for the fragrance of the mount zion church first lady bates come on church let's thank the lord for her amen amen well i learned last night the hard way uh any preachers in trouble if they have to get up behind sister bates hey man hey man she blessed our hearts didn't she on last night amen amen we thank god for the mount zion church family those of you that are present and to all of the pastors and preachers who are present here tonight and to this music ministry that has blessed our hearts and to all of you the men and women of god that love the lord and are called according to his purpose it's good for us to be alive in the land of the dying and it's good to know that after all we've been through we still have our right minds for he will keep you in perfect peace as you keep your mind stayed on him amen amen amen if it is your custom that you stand for the word of god i ask that you would do so and um while you're standing i want to summon your senses and invite your intellect to the book of acts acts chapter number 12. acts chapter 12 and it is there that the holy spirit has highlighted for us this context of scripture beginning with verse number 12. acts chapter 12 verse 12. your bible should read and when they and when he had considered the thing he came to the house of mary the mother of john whose surname was mark where many were gathered together praying and as peter knocked at the door of the gate a damsel came to hearken named rhoda and when she knew peter's voice she did not open the gate for gladness but ran in and told how peter stood before the gate and they said unto her you are mad but she constantly affirmed that it was even so then said they it is his angel but peter continued knocking and when they had opened the door and saw him they were astonished but he beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace declared unto them how the lord had brought him out of the prison and he said go show these things unto james and to the brethren and he departed and went into another place now as soon as it was day there was no small stir among the soldiers what was become of peter i want to tag this text keep knocking keep knocking william james who is recognized as the father of american psychology once said that our beliefs are really rules for action the things that we believe either directly or indirectly consciously or subconsciously guide and govern all of our actions and therefore the question is not why did you do that the question becomes what do you believe there is always some belief whether temporary or long-term that rules all of our actions you and i are in this church tonight because we are governed by a set of christian principles a christian world view that god has some type of involvement in every aspect of our lives and that god governs not only our lives directly but uh the circumference of our lives we are governed by a set of rules that regulates all of our actions for the christian one common rule is this element called faith all of us in here have done some things according to our faith we have believed certain things according to our faith we have expectations of god according to our faith in god but we must be very careful that we don't have faith in faith that we have faith in god god often reminds us not to have faith in faith because periodically you will ask him for something and he will not do it so that we don't have faith in faith and we are subjected to god and god's rule and reign and when god does not do it we are resolved that god knows something we don't know and so we rest in the choice and the decision of god even if his choice and decision is in disagreement with what our preferences will be we are governed by certain rules and actions that dictate those actions whether we are conscious about those rules or in our subconscious the context that we've read in your hearing today is another one of these episodes in the life of peter and the people of god whose actions make us question what do they believe when we read this story we discover that as was commonplace in the infant church in the early church those who were voices for god were subject to one of two things the miraculous or the perilous those who were subject to the work and call of god endured persecution as a matter of fact uh throughout the book of acts we discover not only the the influence of the holy spirit but we also discover that in that day and time being a christian was a crime and these who served the lord clearly with clear conviction did not mine enduring persecution for the name of the lord jesus christ the church's first bishop is this person by the name of peter finds himself in prison for the third time this time each one of his imprisonments increased in penalty because the problem is he kept getting out of jail and the government had to make sure that they increased the maximum security and in the first 11 verses of acts chapter 12 they increase security and he gets out again and we find him on his miraculous release in verse 12 and the text says when he had considered the thing he realized that god had done something in the aftermath of it that he was not cognizant of while he was in it thus ladies and gentlemen is the opening of this little easter speech tonight because verse 12 shares with us something potent about this whole issue of deliverance if you are familiar with acts chapter 12 you will remember that peter was in maximum security and while he was there the bible says he did not know what was going on in his conscious mind that god had dispatched an angel to release him out of prison and he did not know what was happening in his conscious mind as a matter of fact the text says he thought that he was dreaming and when he gets out in verse 12 the text says he considered the fame he considered the thing the word there in its greek text is the word sunido which means to see completely to see completely for him to have considered is to see completely but you'll notice he didn't see it completely until he was out of it completely ladies and gentlemen uh thus you and i are alerted to this issue of deliverance because when you are in a situation you cannot see it completely because while you're in it your testimony is under development and you don't really know what you were in until god brings you out i can't get any help here and by the time you get out you have figured out what you were in and while you were in it you could not figure it out until you got out of it and you understood what you were in which says to us ladies and gentlemen that deliverance is not official until the person being delivered can comprehend their own deliverance you you you you once you figure out what god brought you out of then you've been delivered so ladies and gentlemen here is uh uh uh some some some helpful insight for you maybe you are not delivered until you can figure out what you were in maybe you can you can once you're out of it and can decipher and discern what you were in that alone is a clear sign that you've been brought out of what god has brought you out of but ladies and gentlemen when we peruse through the the movements of this passage look what peter did peter got out of jail and the first thing he did was go to a house where the saints were gathered together praying i'll try this out here first thing he did when he gets out of jail he goes to a house where the saints are gathered together praying i'll try this side here first thing he did was when he got out he went to a house where the saints were gathered together praying first thing he did he gets out of jail and the first thing he does is go to a house where the saints were gathered together praying i'ma try this one more time he didn't come to church to get a miracle he got a miracle and then found the house where the saints were gathered together praying and went to the place where they were praying i i i'll shout myself ladies and gentlemen just in case you have forgotten and you're stricken with immediate amnesia you and i were in lockdown and god brought us out and the first place we ought to find is a house where the saints are gathered together praying unto the glory of god i don't see how you don't want to be in church now after all god brought you through when you was on lockdown the first thing peter did was he found a house where the saints were gathered together ladies and gentlemen find me an open church where the saints are gathered together praying and i'm running in there but i'm not going in there to get a miracle i got a miracle and then i'm going to church i thought i had about 15 miraculous people i'll make number 16 who testify that i'm happy in church right now because god did something miraculous in the street and i couldn't wait for them to open the doors of the lord's house because i had to find a place where they were gathered together praying and giving god to glory we don't always come to church to get a miracle we get a miracle so we can come to church have i got any help here he finds the place where they were gathered together they were in mary's house biblical historians suggest that because she was housing the lord's church in this text that her house was relatively large and that she was an affluent woman who was well off and the whole church was able to gather in her house and the bible says they were in there having prayer and while they were in there having prayer the text says in verse 5 that they were praying specifically to god for peter acts chapter 12 verse 5 says they were praying and what they were praying for they were praying for peter peter shows up at the house where they praying for him and when he gets to the house where they praying for him he knocks on the door little sister by the name of rhoda hears the door knocking and here's the knock on the door she goes to the door and she's asked basically somewhat of uh who is it and the bible says she recognizes peter's voice she doesn't see him he knocks on the door he identifies himself by calling bob through his voice she knows his voice maybe she was at uh acts chapter 2 when peter stood up and preached the first post-pentecostal sermon and she remembered his sermon maybe she was at acts chapter five when peter walked past and the shadow of his shadow cast on sick people and as he walked past them they were getting healed maybe she was there at the trial when they tried to arrest him and remembered his voice but she knew his voice because she had been around at some point around the declaration of his voice and she was so excited that it was peter the bible says she didn't open the door she ran back in there to tell them peter is at the door this way i want to pitch my tent tonight many have faulted this girl because she didn't open the door and i want to suggest it wasn't her assignment to open the door it was her assignment to stop prayer she had the assignment of being god's answer y'all slept so let me try this again then they're having prayer meeting they're praying for peter she goes in and says peter is at the door i'ma try this one more time they're in there praying for peter and while they're talking to god about peter peter is at the door they're so busy talking to god that they don't hear the door knocking but it's her job to answer the door because the text says in a one-word biography that she is a damsel and everything we need to know about her is tucked away in damsel come on let me help you damsel means she is a slave she's a female and she's young i'll try one more time she's a slave she's a female and she's young i'll try one again she's a slave she's a female and she's young and based upon all of those criteria they have already convinced themselves that god ain't going to speak through her i knew you weren't going to say nothing so let me shout myself in here they've already convinced themselves that based upon her role she's only good for serving she's not good for messages and the bible says she has the assignment of being god's answer she goes and runs in and tells them what y'all praying about is at the door the problem is they didn't stop praying and listen to her because she's young female and a slave i won't pitch my tent here this why you got to keep knocking ladies and gentlemen because if you keep knocking god will favor somebody ladies and gentlemen here's my theology for this text you just can't have faith for your request you got to have faith for god's response because god has a bad habit of responding through rejects i'll preach myself happy i won't just testify to y'all i don't deserve to be up here tonight because i i've got sin on my record and i don't care how you judge me i'm just trying to share my testimony i'm just bold enough to share mine while you're sitting there acting bougie and spiritual so let me talk to the real people you don't deserve to be in here anyway but when you look back over your life there were some people who rejected you based upon who you are based upon how society said you are but yet god has a habit of raising up the rejects and giving a voice to the voiceless sometimes your faith has to be placed in god's response and not just in your requests because god often answers in ways you don't expect lord i can't get no help here we ain't gonna listen to her she's a female she's a slave and she's young she has no experience she has a role of servitude and she really is not a person whose word we trust and god uses her to be his answer because he wanted to place favor on the servant that they thought was just on the leader [Music] i'll shout myself some of you ought to be grateful that god isn't as prejudiced as some of us think he is god will use the servants just like he'll use the leader and the answer may not come from the front it may come from the back the answer may not come from who you think it'll come god has a way of raising up the rejects and giving voice to the voiceless and significance to the subservient he says i'm gonna put favor on the one who y'all think that is not worth listening to and i'm gonna make her the answer what you in there praying for she's gonna give the answer well his detention his attention y'all i want to argue pastor bates that it is highly possible that verse 5 says they were praying for peter but they were not necessarily praying for peter's deliverance because pastor bates if they were praying for peter's deliverance then they would have expected rhoda's report cause whatever i pray for i'm waiting on it to happen and when somebody come tells me that what i've been praying for happens i'm not gonna sit back and say no that ain't really had happened if i prayed about it that's what i expected to happen [Applause] i want to suggest pastor perkins that rhoda was an indictment on their supposed faith because if they was really praying for peter to be delivered they would have received rhoda's message because that's what they were praying for they wasn't praying for peter to be delivered they were just praying for god to be with peter because they really expected peter not to come out of this thing and rhoda comes lord have mercy rotor comes to say what y'all was who y'all was praying for is really knocking at that door let me let me let me see if i can argue my case i ain't got nothing but the bible i don't have no cliches watch what the text says the text says when she said peter's at the door they gave two responses their first response was look girl you crazy i didn't i didn't make that up it's in the bible they said look girl you are mad the word mad in the greek literally means to be insane or out of one's mind stop time out time out pastor peters i want to suggest that they're telling on themselves of how they really feel about rhoda because let me ask you a question if you've been praying for something or somebody to be delivered and they get delivered and somebody come tell you that what you've been praying for is at the door who you've been praying about is at the door and you don't receive that report which one of us is really crazy [Applause] [Music] i want to suggest that you can't be so quick to say who crazy because saying who crazy may be a revelation of the person who's saying who crazy i'm gonna try this one more time you can't be so quick to put your mouth on somebody else because you will risk telling on yourself i can't get no help here okay y'all still ain't feeling me if you think i'm crazy why you got me working for you if you think i'm crazy why you got me serving for you apparently i'm not the one crazy [Applause] but it's a telltale it's a telltale church because rhoda lord hold your boy right here pastor bates rhoda was their servant their slave she wasn't crazy when she opened indoors she wasn't crazy when she picking up utensils she wasn't crazy when she picking up clothes she wasn't crazy when she following your agenda she wasn't crazy when she serves and your purposes but the minute she start being used by god now she craves do you know folk like that as long as you're serving their purposes they all right with you but the minute you start walking in what god has for you now they got a problem with you you loved me as long as i was doing what you wanted me to do when you wanted me to do it how you wanted me to do it but by the time god started using me now you got a problem with me ladies and gentlemen i don't know whose word this is for but you will find out how people really feel about you when god gets his hands on you [Applause] as long as i'm doing what you want me to do i ain't crazy the minute i start walking in what god has for me now i'm crazy ladies and gentlemen you got to keep knocking because the knot gives context to favor somebody to favor somebody the knock is calling somebody out of the the back room it's calling somebody out of the dark out of obscurity to have voice and presence in a house that nobody would listen to doesn't just favor somebody but she goes and knocks on the door they tell her two things they said lady you crazy and then they try to process her message by saying the the person at the door is his angel so you're going to reduce the knock i heard to a ghost you didn't see come on come on and the joke of the text pastor perkins is that the last time i read the bible ghosts ain't never had to knock on the door ghosts know how to get through closed doors as a matter of fact peter is knocking at this door because an angel stepped in his closed prison in the beginning of the chapter and got him out of a closed prison if it is a ghost it has no need to knock cause ghosts don't have a problem get through closed doors if it is an angel thank god it is an angel but if it is a real angel they don't have a problem getting through closed doors as a matter of fact you went here today cause an angel got through your closed door you don't know how to you don't know how to shout let me help you all night and all day you had angels camp round about your bedside campground about your house to make sure you got up today and to give god the glory so not only are you disrespectful you got bad theology because if it is an angel angels don't have to knock through doors but it was their way of minimizing her mind and reducing her message because she's not the one that they think god will use to be the answer but god favored her anyway if you keep knocking god to favor somebody if you keep knocking the second thing this texas table to teach the god of free somebody i said god will free somebody pastor where do you see that here it is y'all here it is if you got a bible and can read it the door is closed peter is on the outside of the door he knocking he didn't stop knocking just because she didn't open the door he kept knocking wait y'all but he kept knocking and as he kept knocking rhoda never came back to the door to open the door the folk who didn't believe it was him stop praying and came to the door and they were the ones who opened the door realized it was peter they went to go hug peter peter said hold on don't hug me so fast i want to tell you how i got out i was on my way to death god sent an angel to bring me out of a prison out of a mighty hand of herod and that's how i'm here tonight all right since y'all missed it here it is y'all if y'all saw that scene the way the text has it written peter wasn't the one in prison it was the people in the room who were in prison and god sent peter to bring them out lord have mercy today y'all gonna try this one more time peter's at the door knocking rotor didn't go back to the door to open it peter kept knocking and the people in there went to the door open the door which means y'all peter's job was not to go in peter's job was to pull them out because they were the ones in the prison peter was the one free they were the ones bound who has god called you to set free who has god called you to come out of their prison of fear and to be able to work and stand for the lord jesus christ because it's not it's not god's will for them to be locked up in this house in fear peter was brought out not so he could go in but that he can bring them out they were the ones in prison and because he kept knocking he freed some people and finally church if you keep knocking you'll favor somebody and you'll free somebody but finally church you keep knocking you'll fix somebody come here come here if you got a bible and can read it this is a fix-it moment for peter come in it's a fix-it moment for peter because just just a few weeks ago in matthew chapter 26 peter got interrogated by not one but two damsels he got interrogated by two damsels and they asked him one question aren't you the guy that was running with jesus he said no it wasn't me what me i don't know you you got mistaken identity that wasn't me and in acts chapter 12 he's in another position to be interrogated by a damsel and this time he does not deny who he is the first time he denied jesus and himself but this time god set him back up to have another chance to fix what he messed up lord have mercy today just two three weeks ago at our lord's crucifixion and now he's in the face of a damsel and he's got another opportunity to affirm the power of the lord jesus christ and he said this time i messed that thing up but this time let me tell you how i got out the lord sitting angel to break me out of prison and now that i've been delivered i cannot deny the fact that jesus christ is lord and this power is still active in the earth because he doesn't brought me out i'm trying to tell you if you keep knocking god will give you another opportunity to fix what you broke the first time i thought somebody would get happy right along there i said god i'll give you another opportunity to fix what you're best of the first time thanks be to god god isn't just the god of another chance he's the god of all chances have i got any help here and he'll give you a chance to fix what you messed up reposition you to do it all over again maybe y'all missed your story so let me help you here's how this story looks it looks like this a preacher went to prison he's in jail he's supposed to die the next day the lord sends an angel release him out of jail he goes to where the church is at gets the church out of a place of fear and deploys them to start spreading the message [Music] i'm going to try this one again a preacher is in jail he's supposed to die the next night the lord sends an angel to get him out of this dark dungeon he gets out he finds where the saints are assembled brings them out and deploys them to spread the message i'ma try one more time a preacher is in jail he's scheduled to die god sends an angel to get the preacher out of jail when the preacher comes out of jail he sends him to the house where they're praying to get the saints out and now to deploy them to do ministry does that sound like somebody y'all know one friday a preacher was on his way to prison and they had killed him and hung him for six hours but the lord sent an angel three days later to roll the stone away to bring that preacher out of jail and to release the kingdom to do the kingdom work does that sound like somebody y'all know his name is jesus and if you love jesus you gotta understand he was brought out to bring you out [Applause] thanks be to god for jesus that always gives us the victory thanks be to god that he was brought out to bring us out and if you've been brought out you ought not to act like you're still in [Applause] if you've been brought out ah yeah you ought not to act like you're still in have i got to win this here now we've been in here for a little while and some of y'all still ain't moved yet i want to remind you you are not in your house you are no longer on lockdown but god has brought you out of a horrible pit and since you've been out you ought to have something to say for our master have i got myself awareness in this place i said since you've been brought out you ought to have something to say for our master i said since you've been brought out you ought to have something to say for our master he was wounded by our transgressions bruised lord our iniquities and the chastisement of our peace was upon him and by his tribes that he did a miracle for you in the street and you walked in here tonight to find the saints praying and praising god have i got to win this here and since you're in here tonight you ought to have that testimony that i made it out by the power of god and since i made it out i will keep on knocking because if i keep knocking god's favor may be on my life if i keep knocking god may use me to free somebody if i keep knocking her god just may fix it what he'll position me to be able to fix what i messed up the first time anybody here can testify commonweal i said god will god will i said god will give you another chance i said god will give you another opportunity to fix what you messed up the last time have i got a witness here the bible says that they stopped praying and went and opened the door and answered prayer was on the other side of that closed door and that's god's word for somebody god says you've been praying long enough your answer is on the other side of a closed door all you gotta do is continue to knock all you gotta do is save that weight upon the lord [Music] [Applause] [Music] they'll walk and not faint just keep on knocking and one day the door is going to open and god has already answered your prayer now which all do me a favor look at your neighbor don't touch them i said look at your neighbor and tell them neighbor why are you trying to figure it out he's already oh you got to get your preacher voice on i said why are you trying to figure it out he's already worked it out the bible says that while they were praying god had already put the answer at the door that means that while you trying to pray about it he's already answered it and if he's already answered it you got to shift from prayer to praise now i need about 10 of y'all i'll make number 11 that's ready to shift from praying to praising if you believe that what you've been praying for god has already answered your prayer i want you to take the next 10 seconds and give god a thank you please because you believe that what you've been praying for you've been knocking and god has answered it i hear jesus said ask and it shall be given seek and you shall find knock i wish i had a bible church the bible says knock and it shall be open unto you anybody here who's ready to receive what you've been asking if you believe that you've got what you've been asking you got to praise him now if you believe that you've been gonna get what you've been asking let everything i said let everything i said let everything that's got breath i praise him [Music] praise him everything that god has for you it's on the way if you believe it don't take your mask off but open your mouth under your mask and tell god thank you that what you've been praying is on the other side of a closed door just keep knocking and god will i said god will i got to quit but just tell somebody be not dismayed whatever be tired god will take care of you beneath his wings i'm feeling pretty good in here will [Music] yeah yeah [Laughter] [Music] listen church listen everyone's standing everyone's standing everyone says the word of the lord for you is keep knocking don't give up don't quit you are as close to your answer as soon as that closed door will be open and your answer is waiting on you to come open the door here's what the bible says the whole constitution of how this event happened was that the people of god were caught between prayer and a miracle while they're praying a miracle is happening it was only a matter of time that who they were praying for showed up now they could only pray to god they couldn't tell him how to do it y'all ready because if they would have told god how to do it it would not have included rhoda because they were already convinced that god doesn't speak through a female a slave and a young person that god would not send the answer through a person who fits that profile but we're blessed today church that while we have pastors who give leadership in the body of christ god can use any of you to be his answer and you got to be willing to be bold enough to be used to be the answer and not be the problem the devil already got enough people who are a problem he wants to use you to be the answer so why don't we just do what the first church did why don't we just pray and every time we pray pastor bates we're caught between talking to god and god responding i can't tell god how to do it because i'm just not that smart his thoughts are above my thoughts his ways are above my ways i just got to be open to receive how god chooses to answer my prayer amen and i've got to be willing to understand that god can use anybody to be an answer to my prayer the person who is standing next to you may need prayer tonight and may have walked in this church tonight with any type of particular burden or struggle or challenge and i just believe this has been on my heart for many years i don't believe that we can have revival without prayer i believe that if we pray revival can break out in a way that we don't expect because god can do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us so i'm not going to ask you to hold your neighbor's hand i'm not going to ask you to touch them all i want you to start doing is just starting just start to pray for the person who just standing next to you you may you may not know it but god can use you to help them to get through the rest of this week they just need to know somebody's praying for him would y'all just do that right now why don't we just start praying for the person whose hand you don't hold their hand but you're just standing next to you and let's not whisper come on let's turn this into a prayer meeting tonight we've heard the word of the lord now let's manifest it jesus said my house shall be called the house of prayer come on would you start praying for that person come on come on come on start praying for that person this is what we need to do more of in the lord's house just a time of prayer come on be be god's answer for the person that is next to you be their answer be their source of strength come on be their source of strength be their intercessor come on be their intercessor i'm praying for pastors tonight i'm praying for pastors tonight i'm praying for pastors tonight you've had the burden of trying to lead your church through these uncharted waters this pandemic took something out of you it took something out of you i'm praying that god will restore your joy for preaching that god will restore your joy for leading that god will restore your joy this thing took something out of us i'm praying that god will restore your joy my prayer is that god will give you a fresh word i'm praying that god will put bodies back into your church ministry back into your church vision back into your spirit i pray that you will not fall into the trap of this contemporary temporary time that you'll lead god's people back into a place of wholeness come on come on pray for somebody come on pray for somebody come on pray for somebody they need this moment that somebody in this church feels like they've been out here by themselves they need your intercession hallelujah hallelujah [Music] now at some point during your prayer if you believe god heard you you got the shift i said you got to shift i said you got to shift i said you got to shift from praying to praising because you believe god i said you got to shift now and if you believe god heard what you prayed start to praise him now and thank god for the victory come on church open your mouth and give him glory don't let that mock that mass muzzle your voice come on give him glory everybody come on give him glory everybody you you you are an answered prayer you just received [Music] an answered prayer hallelujah now let everything that had breath [Music] i said let everything [Laughter] that's got breath praise him [Music] hallelujah [Music] [Music] oh he's for those of us um me oh because by then i had gained some experience in church and with judge people and i'd heard some church people talk about some other folk when they came forward thing yeah here they go again they ain't about nothing sometimes you wonder how christians can get into the church house with such attitudes amen are you wondering but let's don't let's listen wish so and so was here i tell you what let's do let's do what the preacher asks he asked us to pray for one another as we stood by one another let's pray for the person that we wish were here and then listen for the lord to direct us as it relates to that person that we wish were here and perhaps give them a call or a visit um and maybe tomorrow night they'll be here who knows and if not tomorrow night then you will be given some opportunity to come into their presence and there and them into yours very soon are you glad you're here tonight amen [Applause] did you get as i did enough courage to keep knocking amen well were your eyes open to the extent that sometimes it may be that we spend more time in prayer than we do in praise or that we often get locked into praying and never performing as the lord would have us to you you can do that because how do i know that you are not praying for me and how do you know i'm not praying for you for you for you and we say to each other and it seems to be a catch-all when uh we to each other what our problems are we just kind of cut the conversation short by saying honey i'm praying for you yo with me i'm praying for you and at some point at some point the very people we're praying for we ought to be able to meet together in praise together is that right amen amen amen what a preacher what a preacher here yet we don't want to put all the focus on him because we'll be seeking the devil on him do you hear what i'm saying amen and because the lord has sure enough gifted him amen and you know satan doesn't like that you know satan doesn't like that at all he doesn't like what's happening here these four nights three of them already gone by and you know satan is upset about that and you know he's going to do something because he is the small g.o.d of this world he's going to do something and we just that's something to pray about let's pray for one another that we don't uh get a roadblock put up in our way between now and tomorrow uh that might prevent us from coming overcome whatever it is and the way to overcome it is by talking to the lord about it uh i i i i don't want to minimize anybody's presence here tonight but i certainly want to maximize the importance of my good friend of over 30 years uh closer to 40 uh pastor butler traveling all the way from reno nevada i don't see any companion with him where all right he does have someone with him i just want to say he traveled alone and that's a long way to come but not for pastor butler pastor butler will make that hop in no time i've known him to do it i've known him to do it for many many times very few friendships that um that i have had the privilege of gaining and that the lord has allowed me to uh enjoy that i have enjoyed for such a long time without any kind of problems to arrive he's been beneficial to me and i hope i've been half as beneficial to him thank you pastor butler for being here and i hope you're not turning around going home tonight be here to friday say that means he'll be here thursday amen how many of you all this is your first night being in the revival aren't you glad you came uh i don't have to ask you to come back i'm i'm i'm like rhoda now uh peter's at the door hey man he's at the door and you can join me and you can say to somebody maybe somebody you left at home somebody you might have encountered at work today um or in the neighborhood you can say to them our prayers was answered the prayers of the of the saints were answered we were asking seeking and knocking and if you think your prayers have not been answered do what somebody talk to me keep knocking keep knocking keep knocking who was it that kept knocking in in the text it was peter the one who who needed it least amen he was already a walking miracle the one who needed it at least but the ones who needed it the most were a little slow believing they were in there praying for him and then they got spiritual and it's amazing how people can get spiritual on you yeah go somewhere and sit down girl peter's in jail oh no that's that's his spirit amen but everything we know about what the bible teaches about all of that tells us that god answers prayer doesn't he answer prayer amen amen and let me tell you something the person praying know when god has answered his prayer i didn't hear nobody you you know and so so the flip side of that is what the person praying also know when god hasn't answered amen yeah you know no he's faking it no you're faking it just just just keep praying until you can turn that prayer into praise amen let's give pastor bates a big hand [Applause] for the spirit used him to initiate this revival this week and um we had to try to find a way to squeeze it in had some things going on we've been this pandemic you know for over a year our members just was thoughtful enough to give us a celebration after 42 years and pastor bates of course one of those who he closes out on the fifth fifth sunday and then of course as the lord would have it um my wife lost one of her sisters and we had to find a way to get it in but the lord had already figured it out for us it worked out just right it worked out just right and normally sister many and myself would be this time of the year normally we'd be on vacation uh we'd be probably down to that water vacationing you all didn't get that nobody some of y'all haven't been to headwater we would we would go to atwater just just to come down we're not used to getting on no plane or getting on a ship but nothing like that going way off that was too much still left undone for us to go too far so we just hop in the car and run down an hour and a half to add water the two of us as a matter of fact as a matter of fact a few years ago how long ago pastor bates many they remember dates real well we were there first sunday of june a few years ago when we got word from one of pastor kimbrough's daughters that he was gone that's what she said to us and we said gone where he had taken flight and his spirit had exited his body and we had to actually again we was kind of like the people in the prayer meeting there when wrote i said gone where he's he's he's gone finally he had to put it in layman's terms he has passed last time we talked to him during those times pastor bates got smacked myself had gone down to visit him the hospital he was doing what we thought was verifying and uh i couldn't quite calculate that in my head i said do you mean pastor kimbro has passed he says yes and we were halfway between here getting ready to come back here in bakersfield and so we just gathered a few things out of what we've had taken to add water and traveled on down south to be with the family and uh pastor i've lost and that's since two pastors in my lifetime and i know exactly what it's like and we are thankful to god to had such men as the late dr h.a green of mount zion bakersfield and dr kimbrough of people's church in our lives and i'm i'm happy to have all these pastors these men in my life at the eve of our ministry thank you all so much uh for coming and thanks for a very rich ministry that the lord has given us for these 42 years now there's one other thing that we that we need to do at this time that's for people both present here and those who are on various platforms and that is we want you to help us be a blessing to this preacher you heard him say he's only been visibly back in his building from a virtual perspective for three months and you all know if you part of mount zion are part of of cornerstone and some other churches that are present here you know that the lord has blessed us to be bold enough to challenge the powers that be some some states have been tougher on churches than this uh they put it out there said and only certain numbers should gather and all of that and we said um what what what was the word they were using about about whether or not you should gather whether or not you're essential and i hurry up and say it the very first sunday we came here the church is essential amen for jesus said that uh one soul is more valuable than the whole world and all all the governors and mayors and so forth were trying to do was save some jobs and try to get some people some money who's trying to save some material things that eventually is going to disappear anyhow but jesus didn't say one's soul that's true too but just one soul is more valuable than the whole world now is that some value you know you and i are not the ones who put value to things god is some people think things are valuable because of what they cost financially amen and some people think things are valuable because they said it's valuable and it's in their possession amen god says what's valuable and he says one soul and we are praying and desiring that at least what we spend in money will be enough to get at least one soul into the kingdom but not only one into the kingdom but one back to fellowship with the saints amen see the hands of pastors in here i see the hands of some pastors these pastors would agree with me in saying that we haven't seen some of our members doing this whole pandemic amen and we gotta we gotta be honest about it we can't we can't kick ourselves too hard about it it's not that we haven't offered some opportunity is that right uh we've done the best we could and some have found a way some sheep have decided to follow the shepherd in this case the undershepherd and some have decided not to and so we've heard three topics already and very good job has been done on those three topics and the final one i think is what fellowship the final one is fellowship i want to thank my daughter tammy for the one tonight and ironically both of us master bates and i have had our daughters to stand and we are grateful to god for them for standing we intentionally didn't call in the preachers this time we intentionally called any preachers and we went we wanted to make sure that you know when you give a preacher mike you you that's a problem so we didn't call into preachers plus they get many opportunities many opportunities and we're so thankful for the ones that we've heard and we have one more on tomorrow night fellowshipping and rejoicing tomorrow night right and and the preacher has told us we need to learn how to rejoice uh we need to learn how to do a little exercise and with each other we you hear him saying don't don't touch them but just point at them and look at them but we can rejoice without touching each other pretty soon we'll be back to hugging pretty soon we'll be back to these strong handshakes and all of that but right now let's learn to rejoice thank god for the recovery and all of the other we as base and i talked about what we think it would take to sustain us financially we believe that enough people would come out to where we'd ask each person to give one hundred dollars at least or more we would be able to take care of the things that we need to take care of now there are some they're awesome thank you dr peters his father's my preaching partner amen um you you know that you know that [Music] you can't go to an airport and say i'm on my way to oakland california and pittsburgh california to do a revival for dr bates and canon and then they'll just stamp your hand or something and give you a free pass it doesn't work like that is that right it doesn't work that way you can't show up at a hotel uh me and my wife and son and daughter were down in bakersfield to the it's just precious and when we went to the hotel they were not merciful at all amen it was anywhere from 109 to 126 a night per per room and we didn't want to rush because um minnie's elder sister faye is there and she was the last one to help house uh sister precious and of course at her age she was taking it pretty hard so we didn't rush off we stayed an extra day amen so you know it's costly don't you amen some of you may have said well pastor about i've already given already given a hundred well that means you gave it so easily until the lord and for you to give more hello somebody i don't i don't want to mess up that game plan for the next time to say well i'm gonna wait till friday the next time but if you really find it within your ability even though you may have given what we asked for if you find it within your uh financial strength of faith to give more we want you to give more um on monday night when i went to uh mount zion uh someone that was one of one of the priests one of the pastors gave me a book and in the book he says now pastor there is there's a bookmarker in there that you don't want to let get away and i opened it up and it was a 100 bill and i said well that's there's my there's my gift for the night i wasn't gonna say well i got mine no no and come tuesday night i trusted the lord that i give another hundred and tonight another amen and tomorrow night at least another whatever it takes pastor bate's gonna keep me informed and we're gonna talk about how things are looking and we hope you will be here as you are tonight as a matter of fact uh will you come back tomorrow and bring somebody come back and bring and bring somebody so let's have our officers to come and stand one behind each chair and then i'm going to direct you to direct you to come we want you to do it in a way that you don't have to encounter you've seen the you've seen the commercial uh where uh two people one going into the restroom another coming out and they got caught in a narrow hall and holly no knew which one to go first and they end up scaling the walls sliding by each other to keep from risking contamination but what we want you to do when i call for the people over here don't double back please don't double back you run into someone but just walk out and come back around and come back to your seat the same over here just go out this way then come back around go back to your back to your seat and the same way here other words just keep walking and you'll find a door open and you can come back to your seat without having to bump into each other now we don't want to we don't want to take for granted that that this pandemic is behind us it's not some people are still dying from it every day is that right every day and those of you who are on various platforms at home uh we're seeing where as many as 600 plus people have been watching and uh we trust that we have that number again tonight and tomorrow night it's a matter of fact there's room enough for you to come down if you you can get here come on down and be with us in person there's nothing like saints worshiping in person i'm going to pray and we're going to ask you to respond uh by obeying the lord let's church lines for we know that we have practiced many prejudices right in the church you had to heal peter of it and you're willing to heal us of it as well let us not stop at the boundaries of cities and churches but let us mix and mingle and go after souls let us get up off our knees long enough to go and open the door thank you lord for this powerful preaching of this preacher we pray in jesus
