Joe Beda talks VMware Tanzu with Duncan Hewett at VMworld 2019

[Music] so here we are at vmworld 2019 in San Francisco here with Joe Biden Soto with just a dance you know tan - on stage give us some I guess feeling of how when you have envisaged Anzu delivering value to customers well you know as we've brought together so many of VMware's investments around kubernetes we really wanted to to take it from the point of view of creating an integrated experience for customers and this includes the big three announcements that we had on stage today which are welcoming pivotal which provides you know apps are where it really starts and ends that's where the value is delivered and pivotal provides the application developer experience working hard to bring them to the kubernetes world they're already well on their way doing that and a project specific where we're taking kubernetes and really enhancing vSphere with it it's going to create a better vSphere and it's also going to create a better environment for running kubernetes on top of East fear and really create the best place for running modern applications and then finally we're introducing tons of mission control which really brings these things together with one control point so that both operators can create provision infrastructure they can set policy around who can access it and capacities and all that and then developers then get a self-service you know freedom to be able to actually do their best work and so we really like we had all these things in motion and we really wanted to bring it together under one umbrella so that that folks really viewed it as a total solution instead of a bunch of pieces that that didn't connect yeah I mean what's really interesting particularly you denied BJ we see this massive growth of application as organizations looked at leapfrog and deliver new capabilities so this feels like it actually really provides a complete platform yes that's exactly the the the the problem that we're trying to solve is I think every company out there is trying to figure out how do they become a software company how do they actually use software to accelerate their business because there is this feeling that if they don't accelerate their business then you know somebody else will come in and they'll actually use software to disrupt them and so you know I think our view from the from VMware in general is we really want to give those companies the tools that they need so that they can really compete in sort of the software driven enterprise world that we're living in today well I think it's really exciting Joe because it you know for all our customers who are struggling with this application development world and then to bring it with the infrastructure we're really in for a fun Drive oh yeah I think I'm so excited about it this is why you know hep tio joined VMware really excited to see pivotal come onboard and you know I think we're really set up to do some great things for customers all right well thank you Joe and thank you so much for having me you
