♫ MUSIC ♫ Hello friends, welcome
to our YouTube channel. Today we are back with
a new bus journey for you in which we will go
from Jammu to Kashmir. Kashmir is known for being a great
tourist place in the country and the world and in today's video we will take you
from Jammu to Srinagar in JKSRTC bus and along with this we will
also know about the latest situation of Jammu-Srinagar
National Highway and Kashmir Valley. So friends, let's start this video. Right now I am in Jammu and I
have to take a bus to Srinagar. Buses for Srinagar run from
Jammu Tawi Railway Station so I reached here early in the morning. Here from Jammu Tawi Railway Station,
many buses go to Srinagar in the morning. There is no fixed time,
the bus leaves as it gets full. There is this booking
counter here in this corner and from here you will get
the ticket and seat number. These are mini AC buses which
are leaving back to back for Srinagar. It takes 7-8 hours to
reach Srinagar from Jammu, so you can reach
comfortably by these AC buses. These buses have 2x1 pushback
seats and a total of 18 seats, which means it will give the
feeling of a tempo traveller. I got a front seat in this bus but
I am looking to get a bigger bus. Meanwhile, this big ordinary
bus arrived to go to Srinagar. This is Ashok Leyland's BS6 bus
and in this also I have got the front seat, so I will go in this now. He is the driver of our bus and he told
that the bus will leave from here shortly. The time is around 8 o'clock. The bus was full as
soon as it reached here but now we will have to
wait here for some time. Then after about half
an hour the booking staff came and gave tickets to
everyone in the bus itself. The ordinary bus fare from
Jammu to Srinagar is Rs 550, whereas if you want to go in a mini
AC bus then the fare is around Rs 800. Our bus is completely full of passengers. Actually there is only one
seat in front of the driver, but here seats have been made
by installing a separate bench. I am also sitting on one such extra seat. Then around 9 o'clock our
bus started leaving from here. The bus arrived here at 7:30 AM
and got full as soon as it arrived, Still, the bus stopped here for 1.30 hours because the booking staff only
got the time now to cut the tickets. Our bus is full for Kashmir only
and there will be no conductor in it. So at 9 o'clock our bus left from
Jammu railway station for Srinagar. Talking about the route of the bus, starting from Jammu, this bus
will reach Srinagar via Udhampur, Chenani-Nashri Tunnel, Ramban,
Banihal, Qazigund, Anantnag. This distance is 250 kilometers. After leaving the station,
diesel was first put into the bus. If the journey is long then
the diesel tank should be full. After this, it took us a lot
of time to leave Jammu city. We are now going towards
Udhampur via Jammu bypass. Jammu is a big city and is connected
to the rest of the country by NH-44, There is also a broad gauge rail
line to Jammu - Udhampur and Katra which will soon be connected
to Kashmir valley also. Apart from this, there is also
a domestic airport in Jammu from where flights operate
to various cities of the country. This is Tawi river. Tawi river flows through
the center of Jammu city. This river originates from Kailash
Kund near Bhadarwah and after Jammu, it joins Chenab river near
Marala Headworks in Pakistan. So after leaving Jammu and
passing through Nagrota Bypass, we have now reached Ban Toll Plaza. This is the first toll plaza of NHAI
between Jammu and Srinagar. After this we moved ahead on this NH-44. Let's know some things about this highway. NH-44 is the longest national
highway of our country. It starts from Kanyakumari, Tamil
Nadu, located in the southern tip of India and ends in Srinagar, Kashmir. So our entire journey
today will be on this highway. The total length of this highway is 4112 km. This Jammu-Srinagar highway
is also being made four lane, most of the work has been completed. But the work of this four lane is
still going on in Chenab River Valley. Many tunnels have been
built on the highway here, due to which the travel time
has reduced significantly. Trikuta mountain is visible in front on
which there is a temple of Mata Vaishno Devi. Now, a little further from here, the
road will be diverted from Domel to Katra. Yes, of course, a cup of
tea is definitely worth it. Our bus is going to stop for tea ahead. Most of the passengers in our bus have
reached Jammu by train in the morning and have left for Srinagar. I also reached Jammu from Chandigarh
in the morning in a UTC Volvo bus. So let's drink tea now. So here in Domel our bus stopped for tea
and breakfast at this Friends Cafeteria. There are other JKSRTC
buses stopped here which are going towards
Katra-Reasi and Udhampur. Our bus stopped here for about 20
minutes and is now ready to move ahead. And there is no conductor in our bus, that is why the driver has to see all the
passengers whether all have arrived or not. From here, NH-144 starts on the left
which goes towards Reasi via Katra. To go to Mata Vaishno Devi
you have to turn left from here. And we moved ahead towards Udhampur. There is a long line of trucks here,
all of which are bound for Kashmir. According to the road conditions,
they are sent forward little by little so that there is no traffic jam. In Kashmir valley, all the goods
are transported by road only and this NH-44 is the lifeline of Kashmir. But soon USBRL i.e.
Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link Project will be completed very soon, the load on
this highway will reduce to a great extent. Most of the work on that rail
link has been completed and soon that rail service will
be dedicated to the country. We will know the rest of the things about
Kashmir Railways in our upcoming video. And that is in front of Mata Vaishno
Devi temple marg on Trikuta mountain. Ardh Kuwari Temple and Hathi
Matha marg are visible from here. And here on this side is the bridge
of Udhampur-Katra railway line. This railway line will further
join Kashmir Railways from Katra. Then after this we reached Udhampur. Uhdampur is about 70
kilometers away from Jammu and after the construction
of the fourlane and tunnel, the journey has become quite smooth. Now we have reached here
from Jammu in just 2 hours But when there was
an old double lane road, it would have taken at least
3-4 hours to reach Udhampur. Udhampur is a big city of Jammu
and Kashmir and a district headquarters. Udhampur is named after the
king of this place, Udham Singh. Here on the right side is the
railway station of Udhampur. There is train connectivity
to reach Udhampur but if you want to go
Kashmir by bus then it is better to get down at
Jammu Tawi railway station. Because Srinagar buses run from there. Here there is an issue of
getting a seat from Udhampur. Right now we are moving ahead of Udhampur and all the traffic going towards
Srinagar goes through the bypass here. So this journey is being completed
very quickly on this four lane. Now ahead when we reach Chenab Valley,
road construction work is going on there and there is traffic jam there at times. That is why our driver has also
driven the bus at a decent speed. The driver says that if
there is a traffic jam ahead, I don't know how much time it will
take, so let's leave from here quickly. The lower Himalayan mountain
range of Patnitop is visible in front. First one had to climb this
mountain range and reach Patnitop and then descend into the Chenab
River Valley on the other side, but now a tunnel has been
built under this mountain range. Now we are reaching Chenani village. From here there is a separate route to Patnitop. Beyond Patnitop, you can also
go towards Doda and Kishtwar. We have also made Chenab Valley
video series in Doda, Kishtwar region and on the same side there
is also remote Varwan Valley. You must also watch those
videos in the playlist of our channel in which you will get complete information
about Chenab and Warvan Valley. So the old path of
Patnitop has separated and we are moving towards
this mountain in front. Now Chenani-Nashri Tunnel will come next. This is the toll plaza of
NHAI just before this tunnel. After crossing the toll plaza, one immediately
comes to the Chenani-Nashri Tunnel, which has now been named
after Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee. The starting point of this
tunnel is in Chenani village and the end is in Nashri village, hence it is known as Chenani-Nashri Tunnel. The length of this tunnel is 9.2 kilometers and this single tube tunnel has made the
journey from Jammu to Kashmir much easier. Whereas earlier it used to take
more than 3 hours to climb the entire mountain via Patnitop, whereas
the journey of 30 KMs was also more. In just a short time we will cross the tunnel
and reach the other side of the mountain. Then within some time we crossed
this tunnel and reached Nashri village. Chenab Valley is on this side and Pir
Panjal Mountain Range is visible in front. And as soon as we crossed
the tunnel we got a traffic jam. So our bus is stuck in the jam
outside this Chenani-Nashri tunnel. After crossing this tunnel we
have now reached Ramban district, Here the left side road from the tunnel
goes towards Batote, Doda and Kishtwar. Before the construction of this tunnel, vehicle used to meet here
while passing through Patnitop. Now, if you want to go from
Jammu to Doda, you can proceed from here by crossing
this Chenani-Nashri Tunnel. After some time our bus
started moving ahead again. But not very far, then
again there was a traffic jam. Here it is being said that
there is a landslide point ahead and the traffic on both sides is being
made single lane and taken out one by one. That point is still 4-5 KMs away and
traffic jam has already started till here. It is not known how
long it will take to open. So right now there is no
other option except waiting while looking at the snowy
mountains of Pir Panjal. Everyone is passing time sitting in the bus. Then after some time it also started raining. Slowly then the bus started moving forward. Here we had to wait for
about 5 hours, which was a lot. At this time we would have reached Kashmir. And this was the landslide point
due to which there is a jam here. As we told you that the work
of making Jammu-Srinagar National Highway
four lane is going on, hence this landslide is happening
here and this soil is smooth and the more it is removed,
more comes from above. The road on the other side is also sinking due to which there is a
traffic jam here day and night. After this our line is clear but there is a long line of
vehicles going towards Jammu. We wasted a lot of time
here and it is already evening. Then comes this Peehra tunnel. Right now only one tunnel
has been opened here and work on the second
one is still going on. It is raining lightly continuously
and it will become dark in a short time. We remained stuck in
the traffic jam for 5 hours, other passengers went
here and there to eat food, but our Driver sir
could not leave the bus that's why he still had to have lunch. So our bus stopped here at this dhaba and seeing the bus stopping
everyone started shouting. I was here in support of the driver that those who don't want to eat
should remain seated in the bus, but the bus will stop here. The passengers were just
watching for their own reasons, but one should also understand
the condition of the driver who had been traveling with the
help of that tea since morning. So here in Chandarkote, eat hot
Kidney beans rice at this dhaba. Actually, I too had not had lunch
earlier so I was feeling hungry now. It would have been fine if
the bus had not stopped, but if it had stopped, I had my meal here. So after having food here, we moved ahead. Beyond Chandarkote we
reach the banks of Chenab river. Chenab river which originates from Baralacha
La Pass in Lahaul, Himachal Pradesh. There Chandrabhaga river is formed by
the confluence of Chandra and Bhaga rivers and in Jammu and Kashmir it is joined
by Sansari drain and Marusudur river and it is known as Chenab River. After this, this river joins
the Sindh River in Pakistan. Now we have crossed the
river and come to the right side and will reach Ramban in some time. This is a landslide prone area and a protected tunnels for the
National Highway is also being built here. The situation here has
become worse due to rain. This is Ramban city which is a big
city situated in this Chenab river valley. This is also a district headquarters
of Jammu and Kashmir. There are 20 districts in Jammu
and Kashmir Union Territory, out of which 10 districts
come in Jammu Division and 10 districts come
in Kashmir Division. Ramban is the last district
of Jammu division and after Banihal we will reach
Anantnag district of Kashmir. And as soon as we crossed
Ramban, we got jam again. And here it is already night. Today we don't know when
we will be able to reach Srinagar. Actually, there was a landslide point behind
the tunnel, this jam is also due to that. To avoid much
traffic jam at that point, traffic is stopped in
patches at various places. And here people have made 2-2 lines. Now when big buses or trucks
are coming there from the other side, there is no place to pass. If everyone had stayed in one line then
there would not have been so much problem. A large number of people
are really trapped here. If you ever come on this Jammu-Srinagar
highway, keep a stock of food with you because here many times
the entire night passes like this. However, the work of four
lane is going on in full swing and the road is being improved
by making many such tunnels. But it may still take a lot of time. The problem here is on this
stretch only because the Chenab river is quite down here and
there are steep slopes nearby. After Ramban, we reached
Banihal at around 8 o'clock, continuously climbing uphill
and getting stuck in the road. Banihal is situated in the lap
of Pir Panjal mountain range and is at an elevation of about 1650 meters. Here I have also started feeling cold. Ahead of Banihal we came to four lane road. And there is a lot of
snow around the road here. Now the road till Srinagar has
been completely constructed and from here onwards
we will cross the Pir Panjal Mountain Range through
the tunnel and reach Kashmir. Here on the left side is the
railway station of Banihal. So now we have reached
Banihal-Qazigund Tunnel. While Chenani-Nashri
Tunnel was 9.2 kilometers long, the length of this tunnel is slightly
less than that i.e. 8.4 kilometers. This is a double tube tunnel, that is, there
are separate tubes for coming and going. Before this tunnel was built,
one had to reach Qazigund by crossing the 2832 meter high
Banihal Pass, which took 4-5 hours And that road remained
closed during snow times. And on the other side of the
tunnel there is snow everywhere. Had it been day time, things
would have been different because right now nothing
much is visible at night. And here again the traffic going
towards Jammu has been stopped. Thousands of vehicles are stuck
on this national highway today and it will take the whole
night to reach Jammu. Srinagar is about 75 KMs away from Qazigund
and the road is four-lane and straight. There are high mountains around
the valley and open fields in between. Kashmir division has more population than Jammu After this we reached Srinagar at 10:30 PM. Today that jam wasted 6-7 hours
of our time otherwise we would have reached here in broad daylight
and things would have been different. Whatever is acceptable to God. So here the bus dropped all the
passengers outside the TRC bus stand. After dropping everyone here, the
bus went ahead to park at the bus stand. I had booked my hotel here in advance, so I took an e-rickshaw and
came straight to my hotel. Here in Srinagar, the entire
market closes as soon as it gets dark and the time is around 11 o'clock. It is not safe to wander
outside at this time of night. So after coming to my
room, I slept comfortably. Friends, with this we end today's video. In the next video, we will show
you the famous Dal Lake of Kashmir after that we will go to Barmulla
in the unique local bus of here. If you liked this video then
