as you would expect the fallout continues this morning from Prince Andrew's interview at the weekend in which he broke his silence on the allegations against him surrounding his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein royal editor Russell Meyer's is here in just a moment first school let's go to former BBC royal correspondent Jeni bond who joins me live from Dayton Jenny like I said my toes were curling so much they are still curled up it was a car crash interview wasn't it well it was in the headlines this morning a testament to that I'm afraid and she reminded me of the panorama interview Diana gave and I sat there then in 1995 taking copious notes I did the same on Saturday night but the result for Diana was some sympathy in the morning there is none to be found by Prince Andrew now I'm afraid it was a very uncomfortable watch she was ill-prepared for it his excuse for that photograph saying simply I have no recollection of it being taken the photograph of a woman he has his hand around her waist and yet he says he he never met her as far as he knows I mean it just didn't add up did it and the result are horrific headlines this morning absolutely and no not a hint of remorse no a hint of the fact that it was a it was a ridiculous friendship to get into and to continue and nor thought indeed for any of the victims a third there was no self-awareness at all yeah I don't think so awareness is something Prince Indra has ever suffered from Greg yeah I must say it was a glaring omission Emily Maitlis gave him an open goal at the end he look like a job interview she said is there anything else you'd like to say and he said well no I think you dragged all that is required out of me I mean that any junior PR person would have said the first thing you do in this interview is express remorse and horror of what these victims of EPs time went through he did no such thing the only apology he made really was to the royal family he said I've let the side down so once again thinking about himself and his own family no indeed and it's like he's it's almost like he was pressing a self-destruct button and I do wonder where just somebody like that go from here how on earth do you even begin to advise them or because clearly doesn't listen to anyone I mean what do you do where do you go from here it's hard to see where it goes from here I think you know we may be looking at him being marginalized from from the royal family because he's displayed such a pooling judgment the other glaring obvious point in that interview which did not add up was when he said in 2006 when Jeffrey Epstein had an a warrant for his arrest issued the Prince said well obviously I I ceased all contact with him so for four years he had no contact with him but in 2010 after Epstein had been convicted and served a jail sentence suddenly the Prince thinks oh I better flight in New York and tell this chap that I no longer can be friends with him I can't be seen with him in public why did he have to do that stay in his mansion have dinner with him and then tell him I can't be seen publicly with you where did he choose to do that he went to the most public place in New York Central Park walked around with him to term I can't be seen with you and of course then he was photographed and hence all all the route that's followed mixture maybe of stupidity and arrogance I guess and the sweating thing you know whether or not he can sweat or not is going to follow him tease leave isn't it I mean that's how he's probably going to be remembered yeah he's come across as extremely undignified and now he's a laughingstock yes the headlines this morning showed that you know the prints of Porky's they're going to be talking about them you know the pizza man who can't about it is he said you know he was embarrassed for he didn't say he was embarrassed for his family but he just said you know it's caused the problems the Queen must surely have given her permission for that interview because it was done in her house certainly I mean the decree had told that the Queen did give her permission as you said it was filmed in bucking implements but there's a lot of because he said don't when his PR guys resigned over this room and there are other people whose heads must roll here because other departments within the palace who I've spoken to have reacted with complete astonishment they are dumbfounded that this was able to go ahead and Andrew complete lack of self-awareness no apology no no remorse and you know this is a man with two young daughters and as Jenny said there he had an open goal he could have said I appalled all of his crimes and I made grave errors of judgment and all he said was well mr.
