JELLY ROLL DAMASCUS STEEL!!!

hello welcome back to the workshop it's fantastic to have you here again now I get a lot of video requests people ask me to make all sorts of things but there is not a single thing that has been requested as much as general Damascus so today we're going to try some jerry roll the basket everybody hope you enjoy now my whole understanding of what what general damascus is is it's where we take our two different meals now of course i use 15 and 20 and 1080 fields with my damascus you will look together you draw out into long bar and then you roll it up and then weld that together here editor you have a pattern of spiral so we're going to see how that goes really I stack my billets kind of with an alternating layer come here instead what I'm doing is I'm going one two three ten eighty one two three fifteen and twenty one two three again ten eighty reason being I think this is going to look best with really bold bold [Music] now time to put this in the fire to the fourteen nineteen hundreds of their top-ranked put in that I'm not going to keep he'll go after a full of energy I'm full of it before without lucky however it was well but I've always been told to use luck so from an experimenting and failing I think keep it safe [Music] [Music] what my thing concerns about it he loved it that's on oxide in court okay trouble is that's not the feel that we want in there and if I brings up two well be mean I try to weld at the maps inside let's get a foreman inclusions that can be a really big problem and it's of course the wealth effect some trying to jumps out as long as I can hit it on the side often can of trees a little bit in that and then as I roll it up you want to fall out [Music] I can record holding it on the Pilkington power hammer again I'm a little nervous about how to forge well this exactly because there's no like a normal well we have them stacked like this you hit down all the weld subs are getting hit where it's a spiral you sit down it's actually pushing out one of these weld services what I think I'm going to have to do is I'm going to have to roll it as I Forge weld it in the direction of the wrap and work really super super gently just to try and get it stuck hopefully it will hopefully there's not too many inclusions in it hopefully this works beautifully [Music] [Music] is struggling a huge amount right now to get this to well I tried the first people that NP is just would not well it just kind of kept popping back up as we went around to that one other side so I cut it off kept trying to weld it again but it's super difficult keeps wanted to try and come undone on me and I just got to keep putting it back together every here I'm flexing it back to the forge getting it super super hot and just working it I think the trick is going to be to just keep working it and working it and working that well for a really long time it's going to be smaller billet than I'd like but probably going to be the only way to get this to work [Music] [Music] think I've got it welded we'll see so it's finished forged is it solid other inclusions I don't know we'll find out I'm now going to grind it I'm going to grind both places and we're going to put it in the acid it's a lot smaller than it started I'm just super super pleased with how this came out after a lot of welding and a lot of failed attempts at welding and even more failed attempts of welding and after finally getting it together I actually have some general Damascus that's that's awesome there was a good period there where I thought that this was going to be a video with sale involved turns out it wasn't anyway thank you very much for watching I would love to hear what you want me to make out of this little piece of jellyroll Damascus tomorrow so leave a comment below if you're new to the channel go check out some my other videos he should have subscribed because I'm going to see you tomorrow on the very next episode have a great one bye bye
