Jeff Slade reviews the Gold Hog Mats Le Trap Sluice and a Hand Held Dredge

[Music] [Music] [Music] so what kind of sluice is that pretty much a fan-made the flare is a team player okay the aluminum box is I had else you made your own but yeah the leg brackets came from gold hock and he was making those he's not making those anymore aha the cover is American prospecting and you know this is put together works great in the early spring right now there really isn't enough waterfall problems we can run it with the cover on it okay I'll set it up and show you you know having having it so you can put legs on it and Jack it up and move it around and the screen helps a lot especially if you're trying to get the water flow just great two different mats can I put in here there's you know again these are the gold hog mats it's a 10 inch wide strip and these are the sections the the you are mat that he uses for cells so that's where everything goes to first right okay and then the other section this next section is a scrubber section so he makes all different mat profiles and you know you can change them out to whatever you want I use this typically when I've got a lot of water you know like super fast water yeah and the reason for the high riffle is when you get into a lot of clay and stop it you know happens to gives you more turbulence it cleans out the mats quicker I've used the you are under riffle stuff in a dredge you know in the copier box you can put that in there yeah it looks good for you know just quick identification right catch and stop what's in the box is actually his Razorback Matt which is what they suggest for stream sluices and the upper section again it has a small riffle and then a series of even smaller riffles what happens this has a little ramp on the front of it a lot of the gold would whoop that ramp and stick you know right in that one section right there oh okay so so this worked pretty good for getting the black sands a garnet so what it does is it keeps the garnet and black sand down okay again it's an active exchange mat that's pretty good so uh so this mat here does a pretty good job at just not pack it up right like prepared to like a regular like ruffle all right okay cool okay wait to see it in action oh let me get it loaded up and ready to go for you every water yeah is it important to classify this systemic okay even better okay oh that was pretty neat though tortoises online yeah there's one outfit that makes them and it fits you know it fits the 850 to now what other things took some monkeying around with to get it to work right because certain mats when you put that cover over the top it changes the water wall across the top of those mouths okay so really the lower the profile the mat the better it works so I run it with vortex you know if you've got super fine gold and that's all you're after you know again the reason I like to build my own stuff is because you know different spots require different yeah do think you name some places I'll put vortex in it I find for Tex whoops do it up with your wild a Medusa here you know no love to play it tends to fill up pretty quick I mean you can see I put that you know that's our to clean itself out pretty well you know right now it's not even working that that well you get closer you can see yeah you can actually see some of the particles reverse and actually come up behind them so this one did you build that yourself a little rubber gasket on the end of it okay so you got PVC pipe going oh look yeah looks like a threaded rod it's a MacGyver deal that's probably too complicated explain right now but yeah I mean I'm just go on my you can you can feel them I mean there's different ones you can buy you the commercial one yep and so when you pump it just kind of just work the bottom so that's just gonna put all the stuff right into the bucket boy nice does it get clogged a lot or anything like that not much that's good well I've got this feature on it which on a nice warm day it works great but see if I can point that in the opposite directions probably got anything the bucket yeah anyways that's perfect it's perfect for a bedrock trying to get the last little bit out of the cracks what's up one should use the Dragons you can't compare this to but or you got mice and to do primarily just use that for getting stuff out of the bedrock okay is there like a classifier screen on the one little okay so let yourself it just Alka I had it's got a look at a meal it goes across it I just taped in there so that's a good idea so you don't get too many clogs you know once you get it clean down yeah another piece of equipment they have to drag around on the right situation it could really come in handy [Music] that Matt there was just one piece always I always thought there were sections [Applause] so again I'm gonna reverse roll it what that does is it opens up all the nooks and crannies that are in it because we first roll it nice and tight the ends are always a pain in the ass good way to strip this but you know there's nothing in there she's black well that's pretty easy clean oh you're just reverse roll and dunk that's it they're pretty easy yeah you know left it too much either there's all your fats or traits for what you know I haven't been working all that hard that you know you're talking a couple of cups yeah yeah look at quarters up [Music] [Music] again you're looking what's in here I've got some big garden Oh again you see how hard that is to move throughout no that's all that what I've got left is garnets and magnetite and if I put a magnet in that because that sluice wasn't running as fast as it could have been you know I've got a lot more garnet in here there aren't it's a curse as soon as a garnet and another mineral called star white because another one that looks like that I'm starting to pick up small pieces that I'm washing down you know you can see how high up in the pan there's a piece right here you can see how much I worked it I've got it you know piece of gold sitting way up in the stack or in the pile it wasn't driven down yeah yeah so guys that think they can pan up here in Vermont on the Brooks they'll lose stuff like that oh yeah all right I mean that's I drove that down into the bottom with yeah so you can starting to see it come up oh yeah nice so yeah nice so that's pretty typical what comes out of here pretty good and you only worked after what maybe a couple hours I haven't been working very hard and bullshitting with you yeah I know I again but clean up the stuff goes into a five-gallon pail I take it home I've got a you know I'll take out the big stop I'll classify it's like probably a 3/16 or something like that yeah it's a piece of stainless steel when there's be no it's actually from a real operation slotted screen stuff I'll pass it over that then what goes into the bucket I've got to clean up sluice with it recirculates and it's got that gold hog washer matt has a piece of you are mad in the top of it it runs up on the side it has two or three sections of this of that washer Matt and then on the bottom it's got a piece of the Razorback now cool and that'll take that bucket you know I'll take half of a five-gallon pail of concentrates and run that takes you know ten minutes five ten minutes you know no classifying just run it right through it do it do it and that will probably pull out game 5% of the gold no no eighty-five ninety percent of it all right let's check on your gold this is from so far this year okay from this spot that I'm in right now okay so this is all the main brook here and you can see you know sighs there isn't any huge pieces in here you know you might have some oh I don't know eight to twelve mesh semi picker size but you know most of its in the probably 20 to 30 mesh yes I stuff a lot of 30 yeah how many 20 30 so I mean that's again that's from wow that looks that's that's this year out of where I'm digging right now and that's what a half is that a half ounce of I oh yeah that's probably a half ounce not bad that's only halfway through this yet you got a late start here because of ice in this spot probably from the mid April may was pretty much a bust might have got in here you know probably around April 10th somewhere in there yeah and I don't my prospect most weekends I'm a weekender just weekends so you know mostly Saturday you know and I don't bust my ass this one is from last season again that's the site Brooke and if you got some there's there are there's one in here is it sig one right there there's one that's over a gram there's an 8/10 in there I mean I know if I couldn't get that big one to sit up but this was pretty much of Vermont Gold Rush up that one Brooke Wow single season last year that was just from that one Brooklyn season yes yeah they just can see that one piece for every tour at the top of it and I mean there's some there was some good-sized stuff it's very good you know we walked into a spot was on bedrock you could look down and just pick the pieces off it just that was that crazy up to be allow Leah oh yeah that's yeah that's the big piece that's really good that's a grand yeah it's about 1.2 1.3 Somali looks like a really nice low yeah right it's pretty great too and one other guy right beside me work and pulled out a piece that was just a little bit bigger than that area the same spot Wow so looks like all the big chunky stuff came off the side work yeah there's a huge quartz vein that the system that runs up through there if you see balled up under here but again I mean let's just why that drop bottom sluices and unless you have the right conditions and the right material watch it go pretty good though you know the craft what you need $5 plastic sluice box you know one of my complaints is that it's not sturdy enough a lot of guys like Jax got a piece of plywood across the top it is I've got a couple pieces of aluminum it likes the float away I've had instances where I've gone to pull it out of the stream and lost everything that I just oh man you know if I'm doing this I usually run three buckets three buckets or buckets of classify throw up and then I clean now bring you there so you added those pieces of aluminum it comes with a plastic piece across it it's really made as like for a high banker guys use it two of them they'll put them together for a high banker I got you the frame and you know for a stream so you just cut them back out of it and you add the edge ribs yellow LCU added that uh yeah right there beside nothing must make it a lot more rigid no it's good the pack is carried and I mean that that in its salt take it anywhere with you and I mean you can I'm Sami run it before you can just put unclassified stuff you know p 3/4 inch stop running right now it's running way and i'll some guys you take this with them they'll have this with their dredge and they just click out whatever is in their dredge box and they put this in it at the end of the day with their dredge running and they'll run they're you know they're concentrated material from the dredge is a cleanup they run it right through it huh is it this will fit right in your your box okay I think that's 14 inches across here also fit right away yeah that's an easy way to do it I can see one from here pick it up put it right in now the trap has on one side hesitant and see it yep so that's you always run it to that side you know pretty easy no targets Neela so do you have a particular pan you like use it or just anything you like the proline one like a 10 inch pan or 12 inch pan you like the bigger refills been in the small ones like those right there yeah this big proline makes the best pan of any other what it is but again if you look at the the concentrates even from you know this this is material that was classified in one buckets it was run through the trap if you compare the concentrates of this to what came out of the gold hog Matt these are dirty they've got you know more lights and more ships particles that kind of stuff so again it's not to me I do a lot of process engineering and what I do for you know business yeah it's not as efficient as those five guys I see see you left over like a lot of left over with all kinds of junk yeah you know and darn it I'm still got garnet pretty good size stuff but there's a lot more junk in this that I've got to get rid of that I've got a pan you know I'm bringing if I bring this home you can see look at the size of the garnet this in this this is out of a trap so too much in the pan reason I like the bigger pan is because I can back pan it you know work the bottom down just sit here and rock and I'll take what's on the bottom and just take it and dump it out but this is unclassified stuff so pretty tough to do it probably should put some more water in here see we get you know you get that's a piece of magnetite that size and you can see already up so we're we I haven't even started working this down this is up on the second riffle and I'm picking up gold already so you know here's a smaller piece here it's sitting stratified on the top of this you just with the amount of magnetite and garnet that's up in here very difficult to get it to run down into the pan panning see that piece go down right there buried it you know right there I'll just quickly run this down see what we got not as much as earlier but again this is just two buckets of classified material and you can see how tough it is to get work it down it just I mean this stuff just sits glued in the bottom of the pan heavy stuff right and you know I'm picking up some smaller pieces of gold should they have a couple in the bottom there's some they're showing up another piece there some up in here there's one right not as good as you know I'm washing some over on the side yeah before you're done be right I was Donald deeper there's a decent piece there you know so that's flood material along the edge there that's what we just ran through pretty quick [Music] [Music] [Music] as you can see my hose is way too far gone I'm having tons of problems with it started to split all of a sudden there is that's just one section a couple sections all the duct tape it's all full of holes all the way down it's just too far gone so I'm gonna switch it out take this [Applause] oh yeah look at that sings roached this one me this one here has no holes just switch the nozzle off let's guess what just nozzle off and back in the water [Music] it's false what you see here the whole thing [Applause] so this is what's happening all the way down the hose I don't know why it's happening I keep this inside the garage but I'm not using it so it's not UV damage and it's only a year old here's another spot that's the same thing down in there and then right here right here down there all done the whole hose all at once here's another little tiny spot just starting right next to it but I goes to show you don't buy cheap hose I think the hose is only like 130 dollars I was 20 feet long so this is probably uh just a cheap hose I guess but this one here this one's the the 155 Cana flex 155 g gy hose this stuff I could just tell right off the bat it's just much more rugged this is the one that my dredge came with but uh I switched it out I thought that I was over there I would be a good hose and that's 20 feet this one here is probably only maybe 12 15 feet this was a little shorter so I went with a new hose but I didn't work out so back to my old one let's we'll put it back on a dredge and I'll get back in my hole all right let's go [Music] [Music] [Music] sandwich time to check out the box let's see what we got for today [Applause] [Music] all right that's pretty clean there's one there and there when they're when there when there it's one that I showed earlier that's nice like that one I usually get a bunch tides in the core help yeah there's another one I'm hiding in the corner [Music] oh yeah picker good one they're not that's rock this one too lay that stay safe over there all right finish my lunch back in the water so it's 548 bend in the in the hole all day so it's time to clean up I haven't checked the box yet since uh it's about two so I've been reading about three hours I can pack it up see you could see through the screen I got a nice picker in there I didn't even open the box yet but I saw it right through the screen damn he's got good eyes these are skips to say why do you think they're good I think I see it you can spot I do you just bottom come on away Wow look at that sucker sit right there good for you you gotta have four more in there I know there's a couple other ones right there yeah Wow you ever find anything here we see wet see way up there in the back where all those rocks are up there yeah take it apart please be surprised how many oh yeah right there get off and then you're off and they just stick right there yeah Wow God look we gotta check this out
