something very very critical something we need to talk about and it's future balance it's dying and i'm scared okay so that's exactly why i'm making this video as you can see from the title today i'm going to show you how to make a future bounce base okay specifically the jay escar signature bass nobody's going to teach you how to make it better than jsk himself that's me okay um the general is pretty much dying because i mean spotify is only supporting staff house and stuff which i'm not arguing about i'm just saying that there's not that many people making future bounds so i now have a purpose in life and my purpose is teaching as many people as possible how to make future balance the best way possible because that's the problem that's the main problem with future bounds it's so hard to do like it's hard to produce not everyone is able to to make like good future bounds um so that's the thing i'm here to help you create good future bounce okay that's what i want this video to do i want you guys to get like get like super inspired and go ahead and sign all this great amazing music thanks to this tutorial um if we can do that and hopefully revive the genre i would like be able to die happily okay i don't want to make this any longer so let's just hop right into the computer we're already here that was so fast this is how the bass sounds in my latest song i'm just gonna play the bass not the song um without any side chain sounds like this there's a lot of things that go behind creating a good baseline okay but in this case we're just gonna focus on the sound design on another day i'm gonna go in and tell you why i do all this but just to make it simpler if you're making future bounce you want your bass to bounce okay so adding slides and stuff like that is crucial for future bounce but we don't want to talk about that right now we just want to focus on creating the sound itself so what do we do first we open zero um for the actual song i did use two vsts i did used silent one for the sub you can actually see that it's a sub from my silent one sound bank if you want to go get it it's in the description um but that's pretty much it however i don't think it's necessary for this tutorial we just want to create this the base and then we can we can create the sub within the actual silence okay so in order to start create a note and just leave it looping so you can get the the sense while you're making it okay so this is how it sounds [Music] very simple and we're putting it exactly at g3 so it's a very low octave you can be doing this on ableton and that's fine you can use anything so the thing about this sound is that it's usually very digital or very spectral uh wave tables you want it to sound like a growl so we're gonna do that real quick um i have many many many wave tables but you want to find like the most basic spectral sounds which are the monster sounds because this space is pretty much like a like a monster okay so let's use monster one for this example or let's just scroll through them while we listen to them let's see how it sounds now i have it open sounds really good let's move let's play around with this wave table position [Music] pretty simple what we're going to do here is open an envelope or actually click on the first envelope lower down the sustain and some of the decay and leave it around here so 700 milliseconds and for the sustain it should be like around nine like minus 18.8 dv um if you play it now it should sound like um but only volume wise it just sounds like a plug what we're going to do now is link this envelope to the wave table position we want to achieve that e wheel kind of sound this sounds a little bit bad so we're gonna play around with what sounds good within the wave table around here it sounds good just for the sake of the example you can actually lower the octave one down to make it sound a little bit more like robotic you see just by taking it one octave lower it now it sounds better now can we make this better yes we can and one of the things that i would do normally for this bass signs would be adding a bend minus um thing and normally this just makes it a little bit more like um growly so as soon as you open it it sounds like this and you can move it around but for this example we're just gonna leave it like around here and just drag envelope one into bend minus and let's see if it sounds good i like the way it sounds like that so we're gonna leave it like that okay pretty simple bass line sounding pretty good um this filter actually i don't know why this filter was opened but this is the filter that we're gonna use we're gonna use pp12 which you can find on multi you can click on multi then go pp12 okay normally it will be off i don't know what's going on with my computer but normally it will be off now when you click on pp12 you will be creating two resonances and there's something very very important here okay but in order to explain this i'm gonna have to use my voice here's an eq with my voice and when i was starting off with future balance i remember that nobody would make aggressive melodic future bounds it would just be like someone would do something super aggressive but no melodic and that would be someone who would make like super melodic but no aggressive so i wanted to merge that and i wanted to also add stuff from other genres so i started doing stuff that people wouldn't do and that's how js car became to be who it was or who it is um and the idea here was to recreate a growl and usually whenever you're listening to a growl their resonances in the back or around there around the sound making it sound like a vocal kind of thing and that's what i wanted to do the thing is you need to understand how resonances work and in this case if you open parametric eq for example and you do the exact sound that you want to create you can get an idea of what to do with filters and stuff like that it's kind of crazy but look at the eq and this is exactly what i did okay this is going to be kind of cringy but if you do a yo yo yo yo kind of sound you can see that it creates resonances around the low mids going up to the mids and resonances going from the high mids to the mids now open zero again now that you have the pp here you want to add a little bit of resonance i already added some i'm pretty sure you want to play around with this cutoff so we can move exactly the same way the eq was moving okay so link envelope one to cut off and make it move also we need to move this other frequency because there was two frequencies playing now link it using envelope one and move it to the other side if we remove the filter this is how it sounds with the filter sounds like this which is a little bit better for what we're doing okay real quick let's go into compression and let's put a little bit of threshold let's activate this as a multi-band just so we can get a little bit better idea of how it's gonna sound in the end um this is basically ott that sounds fantastic to me that sounds fantastic and it's sounding really good as of now um for this you can basically go ahead and use this base as it is but i tend to take it a little bit further and add another wave table again it has to be a spectral one or some sort of digital sounding thing um we're going to use four randomly i'm actually selecting this randomly and let's listen to this sounds horrible but put it on the same filter um put it one octave lower and let's see how it sounds without it with it so it's adding more frequencies on the mid highs which is really good um but we want to play around with it a little bit more let's listen to it by itself this one's really good but i don't think we need to add really anything to this let's try to add a ben minus just like that just a simple bent minus here um just makes it sound a little bit better now let's put these together ah that sounds pretty good as it is um we can actually go ahead and add a sub again one octave lower um and for now this sounding pretty good um normally i also like adding a hyper dimension and put this all the way like 20 something like that the mix on the hyper also you can add a dimension and what i do with adding a dimension of my bases is i put it at 100 and i put the size on two very interestingly i learned this from like future i mean dubstep producers and normally that works really good sounds like this it's a little bit too wide so i would take down the mix we don't want it so wide okay now you can put this up direct down because we don't we don't want it to be affected by all of this stuff now there are some other stuff that i add but this is mainly like like um taste wise all right so you can add a chorus but put the mix down literally just the way you open it if you remove it it gives it a little bit more body to the sound so just around 30 something like that it's really good um another thing that i like adding is actually distortion tube distortion and literally just the way it sounds when you open it it's really good so let's listen to it um so like around 80 or less and to finish off the sound this one's crucial this one isn't taste you add a filter here and you normally use the mg low 24. what you want to do with this is basically make it talk a little bit more uh you want it to close down when it's playing so when normally when you drag envelope one to the cutoff um you will see this so you want to click shift and then alt and then right click it i mean left click it and when you left click it you will only get it to one side and that's what we're going to do so when we do that let's play around with it normally something like this is what i like we're basically creating a um we're kind of creating a heart style kick here it's a mixture for a hairstyle kick and a growl so that's pretty interesting um now play around with it and add as much you know cut off as you want normally i like it this way now go ahead and add more drive and you can even add some resonance um this sounds pretty good but normally you can even go one step further and add an eq and what we're gonna do with the eq is basically what we're doing with the filter so we're doing it twice we're gonna do it twice so open the eq and click on this little peak type of eq now add some gain around 9 decibels for both of these um open it up a little bit more so leave the keyword center 50 something like that and now we're gonna automate the frequency so we can actually move it around so it goes like wow wow wow right now this other should go down and this is how it sounds this is a little bit too much so play around with the frequencies you want to play around with the gain again as well i mean just as simple as that can really turn your your bass into a different type of bass um let's remove the eq and let's listen to it with it it adds a lot more mids and that's what we want it we want a mid sounding bass line okay now the bass line it's pretty much done you can actually go ahead and add like some noise at the beginning of the base to add a little bit of clickiness like this but it's not really necessary and again inside serum we're pretty much done what we can do afterwards is normally adding what i like doing is adding a parametric eq just the normal one not a parametric eq 2 or anything just a normal one and boosting some of the frequencies there are actually some presets inside here that are called ah ah so i really like the ah first the a1 um let's listen to it this sounds like a format effect or formant filter whatever it's called um if you play it it sounds a little bit more vocal even more vocal however it is too much so we want to take this down and maybe play around with the frequencies a little bit more so taking this closer to the other ones if we remove it if we add it i know it's a little bit it's a lot of resonance but it sounds really good in the end um after after adding this normally you can add a bit crusher as well um for this example i was using a bit crusher so let's use a bit crusher now i'm gonna use tall bit crusher for this and i actually already have all the things i saved i saved the bsd with all the details on it so it's usually like a 32 bit depth and also a 12 sample rate everything else there's a little bit of high shelf and the dryness is not all the way up i'm just adding a little bit of high frequencies to this but not as much [Applause] play around with as much as you want and actually something very important that i forgot let me put the melody of the original of the song and see how it sounds there's something very very key that i forgot to tell you guys if we play the melody the way it is it should it will sound really weird and here's why let's play it it sounds horrible so the problem here is that there is no legato no portamento so make sure to go into your file and activate or like serum and activate your mono your legato and also take your portamento to like 69 just for the lulls okay now play it [Applause] [Music] that's much better if we actually combine it with a sub with an external sub it sounds much better because a sub inside serum is not as easy to manipulate as you would with other external plug-ins so if we play this together it sounds like this that sounds amazing and honestly the possibilities with this are endless i don't really like the sound of this wave table doesn't matter you can just use another one and out of like don't even move anything just just change the wave table and see how it sounds [Music] this one sounds much better and you can actually remove ben minus and see how it sounds play around with the with the wave table position you don't like that one either you can just change it let's change all of them actually this one sounds amazing okay we're not done yet this is basically i'm trying to show you exactly what goes through my head okay i don't have a like exact way on doing things um i i have some rules the ones that i show you but normally the magic happens when you just try stuff no rules okay so that's why for example here we change the wave tables and now out of a sudden it sounds fantastic [Applause] without this one let's see how it sounds it's like some vocal weird growl and that's what we wanted now you can even go ahead and make this even better by adding by making the second oscillator um seven semitones higher so that way it sounds like some future house base um so add seven semitones it should sound good i'm sorry if it doesn't put it one octave higher now this is a little bit more it sounds more harmonic and if that's what you're going for do it okay i'm giving you guys the possibility to create the best future balance that you can again go ahead and try different filters as well are really really key for making this um usually the ones on multi are amazing especially because you can go even more complicated right now we're just making it like vocalish but only with two filters but you can go ahead like and choose weird flanges uh weird miscellaneous stuff and the possibilities are gonna be endless and trust me if you learn to do this correctly it's gonna help you be able to create any other type of sound because with this sound design tutorial you're basically learning like the basics of making a growl which is crucial okay even though you might not make dubstep growls are amazing um so yeah this is how it sounds again let's listen to this is so good you can play around with the levels yeah now you can put it one lower and let's put the semitones at zero this sounds fantastic and actually just because i like you guys a lot let's put this as a free download what do you guys think all right um that was it for the tutorial hopefully you guys enjoyed i'll see you maybe this week as well if you guys really like this video um so i can show you guys how to do the leads all right and after we finished with future bounce and you guys want me to teach you something about like let's say um slap house if you want to get those streams i'm down to help you out all right um this is it if you want to connect with me all of my socials are js car instagram's js car facebook's js car and i actually use stick talk a lot so if you want to go check out my tick tock it's js car again um yeah i'll see you guys around bye
