This reminds me of how Chris Nilan was an all star game selection in 1991 thanks to his wonderful coach Mike Milbury.
The NHL stopped letting coaches pick all star selections after that.
Coming from a habs fan like Baruchel, not surprising. Nilan was one of the toughest, but best or greatest? No chance.
Name the five greatest fighters of all time.
Nilan, Nilan, Nilan, Nilan, and Nilan.
The
30 for 30documentary film "The Last Gladiators" about him was excellent. I can't imagine playing for your cities most hated rival, then playing for your hometown...all the while fucking beating up both sides. Like not only to be hated for playing, but literally punching both sides...I don't respect many Boston or Montreal players, but he is the exception.Best fighter in habs history, maybe. Nilan wasn't even the best fighter of the 1980s.
Of course he is bias, but come on... McSorley, Probert, Domi?
Pound for pound... I give it to Rick Rypien.
