Oh hell yeah.
It looks like a really long telephoto lens was used for the distant shots to warp the perspective, making it look extraordinarily steep. There is a side view (2:34) that really flattens it out. It's not as big a deal as he is making it out to be.
Yeah... I live less than 20 miles from that bridge, teach at two schools practically next to it, and have ridden my bike across several times. It's steep, but that's it. There's plenty of visibility and drivers are used to cyclists thanks to mirrors.
The only reason people are afraid of this bridge is because they have to accelerate hard to make it up.
EDIT: The easiest way to do it is just to go along the side route, and that way there's no issue with traffic. There aren't many pedestrians, so the path is almost always clear.
6%? That's as small of a grade as we get around here... That bridge wouldn't even serve as a warmup. Although, I wouldn't be able to resist the urge to sprint up it, that'd be a nice little jolt.
I would be terrified of making that climb
I'd train on it. I love a climb and this isn't even the worst I've seen.
5% grade isnt much, the scariest thing about that bridge is how little space you have
