Damn...i got emotional. I manage to visit it last year in february, just before covid19 become wild. I am happy i manage to show it to a friend who never knew such places still existed and the culture around it.
If arcade gaming in Japan dies it’ll be a massive death blow to the industry overall
I'm honestly surprised they've lasted this long, still sad to see.
That was well done. Question for everyone in this thread. Even though it seems like this had a lot to do with the new owners of the building, I'm sure Covid was a part of the closing as well. Do you all think Covid is the main reason for these arcades closing and they'll bounce back or is it a sign of the times and they will go the way of Music and Book stores?
Also, what do you guys and gals think the future of an arcade would look like? I could see smaller spaces with advanced multi-cades like Polycade and Exa Arcadia.
Arcade bars seem to be a way to keep arcades running(while funding them through alcohol sales).
I really doubt arcades are dying anywhere. People are always looking for a reason to go hang somewhere with their friends and not to mention nostalgia. I wouldn’t worry.
