Hello. I'm Aki, a minimalist who is a school teacher in a small village in Japan. Today I'm going to talk about seven simple habits that make my life more efficient. These habits are the ones I've been trying and I feel it really works in my life. I think these can behabits that you can easily incorporate into your life, so please watch this until the end. ① Wake up early The morning is said to be the time when your mind is refreshed and you can work creatively. So everyday I try to get up at 5 o'clock as much as possible. This is because getting up at 5 o'clock gives you more time in the morning to start your tasks. For example, let me give you a rough introduction to my usual morning routine. 5 o'clock Wake up Clean my room Go for a walk or run outside Picking garbage Drink smoothie Make matcha Six o'clock Workout Shower Stretch Create to-dolist Write in my secret journal Check e-mail Check Cryptocurrency 7 o'clock Typing practice Check and reply to YouTube comments And from 7:30, I usually start doing my usual work. Mostly in the morning, I'm thinking about Youtube scripts, editing videos, planning afterschool class, and doing other creative work. Then, I always go to afterschool class in the afternoon. Personally, if I wake up early, I am able to focus and to do more work in a day compared to waking up late.. Therefore, I recommend you to get up early. It’s so good. ② Drink matcha As I mentioned in my morning routine, I drink matcha every morning through the Chanoyu, which is the way of making tea. This habit helps not only to improve your health but also to improve work efficiency as well. Because matcha contains as much caffeine as coffee, it helps you wake up. It also doesn’t give you a caffeine crash like coffee. In addition, it contains a lot of L-theanine which has a relaxing effect and polyphenol, which helps to improve your focus. In fact, according to a study by International Food Research, drinking matcha helped increase concentration and work speed. The tea ceremony every morning not only my mind, but also improves my work efficiency during the day. If you like matcha, drink a cup of matcha every morning to help get the job done efficiently! ③ Minimalism First of all, it is a minimalist’s trait to have few possessions. This is a fundamental habit for living efficiently. The reason is that th e less things you have, the more time you can possibly save. For example, you don't need to use a lot of time to look for things. One of the biggest advantages of having few things is that you will know what and where things are located. For example, if you have a lot of tableware, do you ever lose track of where things are placed and end up wasting time? But if you don't have many things, you will know the location of each item, right? Therefore, if there are few things, it will not take a lot of time to search for them. Also, you don't have to feel stressed like "Where did I put it!? Ahhhh!" In this way, if you have few possessions, you will not be stressed out searching for or choosing, so you can always move swiftly and efficiently like a ninja. And as a result, you can save a lot of time too. ④ Creating a to-do list Like in my morning routine, I make a to-do list every morning. I think a to-do list is the method that many people use in their daily lives. I am one of them. I am using this notepad. What I like about this notepad is that it's small and the paper is detachable, so you can take it with you wherever you go. Then you can check that at any time. I used to make a to-do list on my computer, iPad or iPhone. But I think this is the most productive way for me. Because I enjoy the feeling of crossing things off, kind of like a game. so I can enjoy finishing the tasks. ⑤ Secret Journal This is my secret Journal, and it’s divided into two parts. The lower part is my English diary that I write at night. The important part is the above part. First, I write H, G, L, which means Today’s Hightlight. What I am Grateful for. What I wanna Let go of. This is based on the method from famous Youtuber Ali Abdaal. Of these three, I think Today's Highlight is very important when it comes to productivity. Here, I will write what I absolutely want to achieve today. For example, today I will edit the video and upload it to Youtube I'm also blocking that task in google calendar to make sure it gets done. In my experience, deciding on the highlights of the day you absolutely want to achieve will increase your daily motivation and productivity. I think doing this or not doing it will make a big difference in your daily productivity, so if you are interested in it, please give it a try. ⑥ Typing practice I practice typing Japanese and English every morning. The reason I started practicing typing was because I thought that the faster I typed, the more efficiently I could do my job. When I think about it, I spend a lot of my time typing. For example, whenever I make a Youtube video, I write a Japanese script and an English script at the same time. So, I thought that if I simply doubled the speed when typing, I would be able to finish my task twice as fast. That's why I started using a Japanese typing app called e-typing. I continue every day as much as possible. And as a result, my typing speed got faster and faster as shown in this graph. At the same time, work efficiency has improved dramatically. I still need to practice English typing though, but I will continue to do my best. ⑦ Pomodoro method Maybe you might come across this method. This is the method I use when working or studying. Basically, 25 minutes of work, and 5 minutes of break time. By setting 25 minutes on a timer, you can concentrate more on your work or studies compared to not setting a timer. The reason for 25 minutes is that 25 minutes is said to be the most efficient time to work and keep you focused. I've been using this method for many years, and I think it's much more efficient to work with time in mind. I always set and use this "Focus" app. It's a free app, so if you are interested in it, please give it a try. Summary So, today I talked about seven simple habits that make my life more efficient. As I said at the beginning, these habits are the ones I've been trying and I feel it really works in my life. So, I'd be glad if you could incorporate some of them into your life. Also, if you have any beneficial habits, I would be grateful if you could share them in the comments below. Because I want to know your great habits too. Well then, thank you for watching as usual. Stay safe, have fun I hope to see you in the next video! Bye bye!!
