beginning to recover because we are back with Superstar Janet Jackson who just surprised us I mean I always admired you so much and I would watch you on TV as you know a child actor and I was like oh I she's so amazing and I just admired you so much and you were someone I looked to um to to relate and and think oh well she's doing it and doing it that's so cool okay um and then you stepped into music and you changed the world there was nothing like your the the the phenomenon of like everybody wearing the key I wore the key in my ear for years you know the clue of course I'm we had a key clue hello hello now I get it you watching us not get the clue wow I did I wore a key in my ear for years I would go to the record store every single time you had a record coming out and I would go opening day and like buy the record and you also were like the first female like dancer that ever was you know on par with like your brother and other you you were just this magnanimous force and performer how did you do all of the things you have done this is your life Janet Jackson wow what does that feel like to hear Drew tell you how much she all of us it's a little bit embarrassing but no honestly it's very sweet I got a I got a a a video message I think it was must have been last year from you someone had given to me and said this is from Drew and she saw your documentary and she wanted to send you a message and it was the sweetest message thank you you so much for that I meant it I really did it's very sweet thank you well you know you were asking me the question but it's it's you said how did you do it it you know it's teamwork it's not just me so I I've from whether it's it's my family and the very very beginning of my career and then going out on my own and having people that understood my vision and supporting that and and going all the way as far as we could take it with like to the you know there were times where as a as a female and I again I don't think in terms of gender a lot you know I never had a chip on my shoulder I thought oh because I'm a woman I don't get opportunities I think I've had the luckiest opportunities and if anything they were mine to screw up or get right and I but I it was it was so amazing to watch in the documentary how for a while there was such a strange expectation because you were a female it was it was always uh about being true to myself um yes there were moments several moments where I was told I couldn't do that because I was a female I didn't let that stop me um and I never thought about okay I'm the sister I'm the baby obviously I did I I didn't want anyone to know that I was a jack it was a little too late but but I didn't want anyone to know that I was a Jackson why because I wanted to make it on my own I wanted people able to and love my music for me not because of my family's last name but when my brothers were successful I was what two years old and I was such a t boy hung out with my brothers all the time there we did a lot of the photo shoots they did I was at so we'd take pictures together so you know people kind of knew who I was so to speak you know and always you get a lot of attention just being the baby of the group regardless so when I finally came out with my my very first album I had already done but good times different strok oh my God I watch you on everything every single thing you ever did I watch I think a new kind of family before that with Rob low and Eileen Brennan and and TMA Hopkins and and then went on to fame and so on and so forth so so it was I guess kind of wishful thinking on my part but that's why I finally did the the album that was named Janet period cuz I finally got my Wish by just naming an album by my first name and not having my last name on it and um except for your Janet Miss Jackson if you're nasty which I still say well you know this is crazy because I mean we're all sitting here together with two incredible icons right and I'm wondering more one well yeah but we have some can we look back at some some stuff here and I want would love to get both of your thoughts and some things we're going to go to the '90s right Drew take a look at [Music] [Applause] this can we look back at some at some stuff here and I want would love to get both of your thoughts and some things we're going to go to the '90s right Drew take a look at this this was you Dre at the uh 1995 MTV VMAs I remember that moment very well tell me about moment um well I I found I had this wig but I was like for whatever reason I'm going to break out the wig throw some daisies on it and I designed the dress so that it had 1940s sort of Rita Hayworth out of Gilda you know um it's beautiful thank you so much you know why I bring that up because in 1995 the VMAs you were there too right was I I guess so I wasn't there you are for for scream you won three Awards with your brother you dominated with 11 BMA nominations for scream you won three for best dance video best choreography and best art Direction you were at the same place at the same time I'm I'm sure we were numerous times by the way I'm I can't stop staring at your outfit this every your head to toe look remember we were talking to you guys about your head toe look these boots this puffer coat your bangle how what is a recomendation that you could give us about something that we could do for our own personal style today oh my gosh or tomorrow what would Janet Jackson say like do this I think Comfort is number one comfort really cuz I'm looking at you at the VM VMAs that outfit was fabulous was that comfortable the yes yes it's very comfortable as a matter of fact I I I want it to be comfortable normally it's the high heels and the this I had a pair of big oversized slacks and a crop top I was very relaxed very comfortable you said I'm going to wear this yes and you made it the coolest thing to ever wear right well I I don't know about all that but yeah I was comfortable can we talk about Rhythm Nation sure okay um that's like a redefining kind of album how such a new sound how do you where does that come from you go into the studio and you think I just want to make something that's never sounded like anything else before well I mean you can say all of those things and you have all of these ideas of of of what you love for it to you would hope for it to be but with myself and and like I said it's teamwork Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis yes and we were just making music that that we love that we we felt being true to me and and and enjoyed every step of the way well that leads me to the 2000 MTV Movie Awards um is it true yeah is this fact true that Janet of course we love you in movies Poetic Justice hello is it true that you were almost in The Matrix no no no well you look like it right here yeah cuz that makes me think you should be in The Matrix it was um o what ooh this is horrible I I can't I I I can't I can't remember the film but Hal Berry played Storm X-Men but I I couldn't I couldn't because I was I was just embarking on the Janet tour but I think that's what you're confusing with it wasn't the Matrix it wasn't the Matrix wasn't okay it's so hard when you like are thinking of doing a film and then you don't end up doing it I have so many of those experiences and do you still does it still to this day like well yeah mine was I've never said this out loud Boogie Nights oh I there was a moment where we were talking about Boogie Nights and I I I think it's when I went and did Ever After and I went in a very different direction yeah but Ever After was so great it did yes I'm curious though because I love you in movies would you ever do another one uh sure I would for sure you remain open to things yeah i' I've I've gotten scripts throughout the years but it's really something that really has to resonate with you what would you ever fize about doing in a in a movie I would still love to do it I I would love to do an action film as a matter of fact my father wanted me to so I promised him that I would at some point so interesting I would love to do it and I love anything that's kind of futuristic so that's why when the whole X-Men mhm I know well we want it we'll go see you but you've been a little busy hello 20123 soldout tour with ludicrous you're continuing this tour your tour this year starting in June you're back on the road yes here in the in the States but it's it's a little different tell us I'm looking at [Music] [Applause] how starting in June you're back on the road yes here in the in the States but it's
