>> JESSICA LEVINSON, A PLEASURE IS ALWAYS. THANK YOU FOR HELPING US GET THROUGH THAT. >>> HURRICANE BERYL IS MOVING THROUGH THE CARIBBEAN. IT BRIEFLY STRENGTHENED INTO CATEGORY 5 STORM ON TUESDAY BEFORE KING DOWNGRADED TO A CATEGORY 4. SEA WATER USUALLY ISN'T WARM ENOUGH THIS TIME OF YEAR TO PRODUCE THAT KIND OF STRENGTH. MAKING THIS THE STRONGEST EVER, AT THIS EARLY PART OF THE SEASON. AT LEAST SIX PEOPLE WERE KILLED WHEN THE STORM MADE LANDFALL IN GRANADA ON MONDAY, AREAS OF JAMAICA ARE UNDER HURRICANE WARNING'S IN ANTICIPATION OF THE STORM ARRIVAL EARLY WEDNESDAY. RESPONDED TOM HANSON IS TRACKING THINGS FROM MONTEGO BAY. TOM, WHAT IS THE LATEST ON THE GROUND? >> Reporter: AS YOU CAN SEE, WE ARE OUTSIDE THE MONTEGO BAY AIRPORT AND JUST MOMENTS AGO BEFORE WE WENT LIVE, THERE WAS A MAD DASH OF PEOPLE WHO WERE TRYING TO GET ON FLIGHTS BECAUSE THEY EITHER HAD FLIGHTS TODAY IN THE NICK OF TIME OR THERE WERE EXTRA FLIGHTS THAT WERE ADDED. FOR INSTANCE, AMERICAN AIRLINES ADDED THREE EXTRA FLIGHTS TODAY AMONG OTHER CARRIERS. PEOPLE WERE REALLY TRYING TO GET OUT OF THERE AND THAT IS AFTER THEY SAW ALL THE TERRIFYING IMAGES COMING OUT OF THE ISLANDS, THAT YOU JUST MENTIONED. BEFORE THIS, AS WE SPOKE TO PEOPLE ON THE GROUND, TOURISTSS AND DRESNINS ALIKE, THEY TOLD US THEY WERE NOT CONCERNED BUT ONCE WE TURNED THE CORNER INTO THE UPPER CATEGORY FOR A REGION INTO THE CATEGORY 5, PEOPLE STARTED REALLY LISTENING AND TAKING IT SERIOUSLY. THE MAYOR OF MONTEGO BAY, HE SAYS THAT PEOPLE SHOULD BE TAKING IT SERIOUSLY. THIS IS NOT A CRY WOLF SITUATION WHERE THEY CAN JUST BRUSH OFF ANY OF THESE ADVISORIES OR WARNINGS. THEY REALLY NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO THE FORECAST AND PLAN ACCORDINGLY. BECAUSE THAT STORM SURGE, THE STRONG WINDS, THEY ARE GOING TO BEAR DOWN ON JAMAICA. WE ARE WATCHING THAT VERY CLOSELY. THAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN IN THE MORNING HOURS, THROUGH THE DAY TOMORROW. THIS IS SHAPING UP TO BE A POWERFUL STORM EVEN IF IT HAS BEEN DOWNGRADED FROM CATEGORY 5, THE CATEGORY 4, NO JOKE. THAT IS 130 MILES PER HOUR TO 165 MILE-PER-HOUR WINDS. CONSIDER THIS, THE DEBRIS THAT IS PICKED UP IN IN THESE KINDS OF SYSTEMS, IMAGINE THAT HURLING THROUGH THE AIR. AT THE SPEED OF ESSENTIALLY A PASSENGER TRAIN, AND THAT IS THE CONDITION THAT WE ARE GOING TO BE FACING TOMORROW ALONG WITH THE VERY DANGEROUS STORM SURGE, WHICH AS YOU KNOW, CAN OFTEN BE ONE OF THE MOST DESTRUCTIVE PARTS OF THE HURRICANE. SO CERTAINLY A SERIOUS
