now this is a fantastic collection of jewelry and being so varied there must be a story behind this what is the story well my father when he was a young man he and him and his brother used to knock on doors buying bits of broken jewelry bits of broken jaw well whatever they could buy right and when the war broke out they sent him into the dockyard and we had a lot of people always hard up everybody got to know that Joe if you wanted in here you always buy it off you so and lots of things he kept he sold all the broken bits and most of the gold stuff but he kept odd things and therefore his pension really United unfortunately he got either year after he packed up work and this was what he bought this is very exciting I'm going to start with this piece here so this is a hard stone cameo between 1760 to 1820 there's something special about it which you've probably noticed is that the classical woman that's been carved in this hard stone she's wearing a necklace set with diamonds yeah but this is called a hobby a and a hobby a means a cameo that's been dressed so she's being dressed with beautiful little old cut diamonds like old mine cut diamonds what is nice to see is that you've got this beautiful carving here and then a much later one to the late Victorian carving depicting Prince Albert a young Prince Albert that's who he is and it's sardonyx it's a hard stone cameo that I knew and then we've got the locket with the diamond motif star motif on the front and this is a relate Victorian and then we've got the emerald and diamond broach of about 1925 there's no marks on it it's probably in platinum the craftsman has even gone to attention to detail going to pick it up and turn it around to the side and these wonderful little cabochon emerald finials that are on the edge there now that to me is a sign of a craftsman going that extra length to really try and make something special now I'm always a nightmare when it comes to going to dinner parties because I'm always my eyes always looking at other peoples jewelry laughs so my eye suddenly when I was standing here I saw this ring and I thought whew this is an interesting ring but you didn't show me this is a Chris of feral cats I I never want my father pay for it what did he pay five pounds five pounds my goodness me right and that was how long ago I don't know I suppose at least fifty years ago I mean my fingers this finger is twice the size of this one because it's never allowed to grow so but it's gets a bit tight in this beautiful sunlight that cat's eye there it's just so prominent which is the way that it has been caught and the crystal barrel is a stone in its own right I would say that you're talking today around about four thousand pounds I haven't finished it this is what we're supposed to be talking about not you me so this Xavier hard stone cameo here I would say this is in the region of about 3000 pounds now we're over onto the Emerald and the diamond now the emeralds are and quite paling here from a value point of view so that you're looking at about four thousand pounds for that one and then you've got here the late Victorian locket and the hard stone cameo here which are probably about six to eight hundred pounds of that one and probably 1,500 pounds for that one so collectively with the ring you're talking about thirteen to fourteen thousand pounds amazing well I mean I think your your father unfortunately didn't enjoy his pension but you certainly able to enjoy yours yeah so thank you very much okay thank you you might have noticed
