Jack Daniel’s Barrel Proof Rye… Will It Wipe Out The Competition?

it's so beautiful it's such a beautiful palette so the problem for me I'm struggling with right now and I know we're supposed to be ranking him right now but I'm still struggling I'm still I literally have the numbers right here and I'm like fighting myself to grab them this one has such a beautiful palette but it's not as well balanced and as impactful as this one what do you value more the overall quality and impact or the absolute just delicious palette David's gonna go for beauty over brains [Laughter] why is that so funny to you it makes sense no reason at all Jamie that I'd go Beauty over brains bro today we are going to be testing a new bottle we just got a hold of which I'm very very excited for Jack Daniels single barrel barrel proof Rye this particular bottle is coming in at a 133.4 proof man I am excited for this one I loved that special release that they did a couple years ago of Jack Daniels single barrel barrel proof fry and uh well now that it's regularly available as they say I'm excited to see how it holds up against some stiff competition tonight [Music] Knob Creek cast strength Rye coming in at 127 proof brown sugar a little bit of like pepper getting a little bit of like a caramel corn Okay and like a kind of a us um like a tea a little bit of like a sweet tea it's sharp I have to hold it away just to get some of the flavor notes because it's a little uh might be a little on the proofier side yeah oh now I'm getting a really nice like sweet corn kind of like what you said and there's caramel there it's it's really really on the sweet side of things there's a nice caramel note there's a little bit of a a fresh kind of undertone to the whole thing even though it's got a lot of sweet notes yeah yeah there's kind of a fresh note to it it's like a sweet mint you know that come out I have it's not necessarily like a strong mint very very mild mint what I really like about this one is that it the flavors seem really balanced yeah it it had that spicy sweet um solid proof presence it like really did all come together very well very well Alberta premium cast strength Rye coming in at 122 proof a lemon drop or like a a lemon head it's like a lemon head it has just like a faint sugar and and just this really there's a little bit of a lemon yeah a lemon head but it's like an earthy Lemonhead there's like an earthiness to it a little bit of like a soft Barrel like a a an old musty Barrel so pull it back a little bit do you get any floral notes like I I get like a white flower whether it's like a lily or some kind of yeah I don't know it's a very pretty floral note that's true oh that's like maybe a little bit yeah oh that smells good that's like honeysuckle I'm getting almost kind of like a grapiness towards the end it's it's a really nice grape it's almost like a really ripened one with added sweetness yeah it's it's it starts out with this really kind of a honeysuckle and like a sweetened um do you ever like a sweetened um I guess really sweet simple syrup and then it kind of turns into from there it kind of goes to that grape note you're talking about I'm shocked this one I was looking at the color and I was a little skeptical because it's so light and then after after having it on the nose and I got that lemony sweetness lemon head kind of thing I was like oh this is not gonna do anything for me and then I tasted it and I'm like wow yeah that has a really interesting palette there it's just beautiful it's nice and cozy and to me it's not as like the first one was more of like a bourbony sweetness dessert too yeah this one is more of like a fresh floral sweetness yeah yeah I like this one it's nice Jack Daniels single barrel barrel proof ride coming in at 133.4 proof yeah there's toast there like a toasty bread a little bit of jam but is that apricots maybe or some kind of uh peaches it's like a peach marmalade with like um like a pie crust caramel it's a little bit of like a little bit of a fennel kind of that for that Herby note yeah you had to ruin it for me I get fennel when I go close but like when I'm far away I get all those sweet notes that I want those desserty notes a little bit of a spiciness there yeah I'm getting a chocolate covered a touch of peanut butter on there too peanut butter pretzel you know the the salty peanut butter pretzels it's kind of like that proofy great mouth feel all these had great mouthfeels they're also High proof great mouth feels very syrupy and viscous across the board this one [Music] Cody in a rich kind of way like the middle one was pretty it was easy it was still really good but it didn't this one's sticky getting a little bit of a tobacco a little bit tobacco spice yeah I'm getting it on my barrel down the throat this one kind of lingers it's it's really warm on the on the back end of the throat and now I'm getting like a chocolate chip cookie that's good and it's almost it's almost turning into now like a sugar cookie towards the end yeah like a nice warm fresh sugar cookie there's a little bit of a tankiness with that Barrel quality that Char barrel with uh some kind of tannic note my third place was this one it was a sweet mint honey caramel after it was great at first after going back to it after trying these two it went to peanut brittle and I don't love peanut brittle and then it also caused when I went back to it it started numbing my mouth yeah I had kind of a peanut shelliness to it yeah when we went back to it at first tasting was amazing and then after that it just it just didn't hold up well to the other so it was my third place as well cool my second place was this one so I absolutely loved the flavor notes in this one it was like honeysuckle a beautiful flower I got um a lot of lights like a grape this really fresh like white grape kind of thing sweetened to Perfection it was so good I'm still not sure which one that that's ranked for me I'm having a real hard time and I still can't figure it out all right so I'm gonna go with this is my second place I think I'm gonna agree with you um they are so close like from like first and second to me this is the distant third these two were so close it's really hard for me to pick and it really hurts me to put this one in second place so when you call it a rye too and I'm tasting it now that I know it's a rye I'm not saying I pick up a lot of tea but I'm saying I pick up almost like a flavored tea it's like a really sweet um it has the fruit note on it it's a pretty one it is it's beautiful beautiful tonight we picked brains over Beauty Beauty this one is the winner number one this one just had all those dessert notes for me it had a richness it had a completeness it brought me salty and sweet and combined it it's it's an impressive Rye I will give you that it has the best mouth feel the best overall experience a whiskey experience uh it is I you know I think I know what it is it's the highest proof one if I if I'm guessing right um I never this actually the first time we've ever had it so I'm very very excited for it and uh overall it's a tremendous tremendous ride it's like it's like pure beauty versus a better balance and overall experience I never considered myself and head over to the heels like kind of Rye person Rye guy as people say yeah I see myself like I liked most I like the top two I was in love with and had a hard time deciding at this point I think I know what each one is I forgot how good a bottle this one is it's been so long since I've touched the bottle I forgot how good this is where where are the bottles David um they're all over the place let's go so this is Alberta premium cast strength Rye this is a limited release Canadian rye whiskey coming in at 122 proof and uh this is a really good 60 bottle um it's been allocated at times in Virginia but overall it's not that hard to get a hold of and it's tremendously good um so yeah and then the Jack Daniels is a new bottle they just released this as a a common release we just got it and uh pop the cork on it tonight I think that Knob Creek came out in 2019 or 2020 um it was a nine ten year old whiskey but it's calf strength right 127 proof and uh it's it's uh it's pretty darn impressive for a Kentucky Rain third place a premium coming from Canada no surprise Mr Jack Daniels you did it again man I will say that Jack Daniels single barrel barrel proof bourbon at 65 dollars is probably one of at the barrel proof one is is one of the best buys that you can get is in in the 60 range of bourbon to get something of the quality the Rye is a new addition to that tradition and it continues the tradition in every way it's it's affordable and it's assuming they can keep production up and and meet the demand for it that is a tremendous bottle of rye whiskey that is a stellar Stellar bottle if you use I'm kind of on the fence about rice sometimes I like them sometimes I don't like them sometimes yeah so there there are you know the US has a long history and tradition of rye whiskey rye whiskey was the thing before bourbon was bourbon so there's a new documentary that's just come out I think it was actually released today and it's called Empire rye and it talks about the history of rye whiskey I think it's on Apple TV you might want to check it out but uh that's not why we did this video it just came to mind but uh yeah this Jack Daniels is a an incredible Rye um I think Rye for us bourbon lovers of which we both are we sometimes Overlook the quality and deliciousness of a really good Rye Whiskey this is findable um it's supposed to be findable now moving forward uh usually it's somewhat findable yeah no okay it's it's been out for years now it was a one I think it was a one-time
