all right we're here with Florida's Jack caglione ahead of the championship series we're going to walk and talk but first we're standing kind of right where Mikey Robertson had the catch to send you guys to the championship series has it kind of sunk in yet what are your emotions you know what's going on with you in your head this week oh I mean emotions are high for sure you know Mikey definitely needed that um honestly it was awesome off the bat a lot of people probably thought that ball was gone but did you yeah off the bat I did um the way this Field's been playing though it was pretty nice to see it stay in and see Mikey hang on to it how's this week been for you just you know emotionally has it sunk in what you guys are doing right now honestly not yet not until the last game probably um you know we're taking each day like a day at a time not really focusing too much on the future they just kind of staying in the moment so I want to rewind a little bit to your freshman season you're about to go to Florida you're recruited as a pitcher and then you blow out your elbow when you think back to that injury and you know how you where you are now do you think you would have been somewhere different had you not had that injury you know not leading the nation in home run honestly I'm not sure but I just know you know God has a plan for everything and everything kind of happens for a reason yeah when do you ever reflect on that time what you learned you decided not to red shirt that year what did you learn watching uh how much I hated watching and not playing honestly um you know just not taking the game for granted having it taken away for so long was it was tough it was hard kind of rehabbing everything from TJ but you know just kind of prepared me to be on a stage like this which was nice so as both a pitcher and a hitter can you kind of think to a specific favorite moment as both a hitter and a pitcher in your career so far probably Georgia was probably the best game so far that's probably my favorite um why through solid I think I threw like five innings um we had the lead then became like a really tight ball game hit two homers hit a grand slam had a funny little celebration afterwards so that was probably like the most memorable game this year so far for me for both hitting and pitching yes you checked all the boxes in that one so let's talk about your family a little bit I know you point up at your parents after home run stuff like that your mom's Puerto Rican your dad's Italian thinking back to Growing Up what did you kind of take away from both of them and their unique backgrounds I like to say like my dad's coaching kind of prepared me to get me to where I am now but my mom's genetics probably you know had a good pull in that as well um yeah I'm really just thankful you know for the support system that they've kind of created for me and everything like that um you know they're my rocks just like everybody else it seems but yeah they're really special if you're going to the caglion house for a team dinner what's the food is it going to be Italian like what's the meal what are you guys serving oh my dad's like a big Baker okay Christmas time comes around like we'll make cookies he makes like this homemade biscotta that's really good um you know we got all the Italian dishes um like any risotto picada all that type of stuff and then my mom's side of the family you know they'll bring all the all the Puerto Rican dishes you know the rice and beans and all that type of stuff so do you have a favorite uh I'm more of an Italian guy when it comes to food I'm not gonna lie oh yeah I don't think your mom's gonna like to hear that no probably not so I've seen that you know you had to you have to eat like 5 000 calories a day how on Earth do you fit that into 24 hours like what is your eating schedule honestly it's like any opportunity like they're shoot around you usually grab a bite or something um luckily Chipotle is pretty big serving so I usually go to Chipotle about once every day or so once a day yeah back in Gainesville it's been a little bit tougher since we've been here but back in Gainesville it's like a once a day thing you're eating before bed right when you wake up oh yeah I mean it's like four or five protein shakes a day um you know the three meals with the dining hall and all that type of stuff the food that we have for us at the field so really I'm just taking full advantage of what they're giving us all right so just how excited are you for this championship series all SEC match up between you and LSU rematch 2017 it's gonna be awesome it's really fun what can we expect you know as fans watching this matchup what do you think an intense two to three games that's for sure um you know they're a great team we're a great team it's definitely going to be a dog fight to me back and forth all weekend and all that um yeah it's gonna be really exciting really fun all right jack best of luck in the championship series thanks so much thank you
