It's Show Time! Let's Do THIS!

uh they're okay but once again park and we struggle and truly giving the judge a really really good look [Applause] well what's up guys this is daniel and houston and emily from arms family homestead and today is finally the day for what we're showing our heifers today's the day of the show we're probably gonna make this about a two day vlog because we just got here the heifers houston and grumpy that's what we call grandpa we call him grumpy houston and grumpy brought the heifers up for us last night because we were in oklahoma city for weston's regional basketball game they won by one point so they get to play again tonight at eight o'clock tonight but anyways it's early this morning we're gonna get out here and get the heifers all washed up blow dried and get them ready and then we should show sometime around noon one well we'll see it should it might move a little earlier than that and then we'll go to basketball tonight and tomorrow we'll have the premium sale so bring you guys along for all this and see what kind of wild adventures we get into houston's a little nervous about going in the show ring i think i'm scared i'm not gonna win last night he was pretty upset because there was some pretty good competition here there's some good looking cattle out there and we don't have a lot we're in a small county so there's probably only 30 total beef maybe less than that so there's not a lot but uh there's some pretty good ones so yeah let's go [Music] so [Music] [Applause] so [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] you ready yeah are you no you look nervous it's all right you'll do good pearl looks ready she's nice and calm emily you ready yeah are you excited i hope we don't have to go against them well there's a good chance you might if you win you both win your class you all go against each other behind there is more extended but at the same time you know unless you have enough body depth to go to go with that length you know structure once they're on the move uh they're okay but once we get them parked we struggle with truly giving the judge uh you know a really really good look of what he wants we're gonna go ahead and use the young man for a class winner in this one you'll be in one but i just like the levelness of top on this one i think this one's just a little stouter at the ground a little [Music] houston arms come on come over here good job excited yeah emily's going in next [Music] okay um just going to keep these heifers how they walked in in this ring and it's a tough call and you know the young lady here that's going to win the class and some other individuals guys we got no birthdays on these animals uh for a judge we you know a breeding animal um you know we have no birthdays so i can gauge you know with her everything matches up i think she's a lot more honest right behind her shoulder than the black heifer and that stand that's going to stand too where i really like this straw colored heifer to win is out of her front end she's a lot straighter and truer coming right at you she has more flex and give to her knees she toes ahead straighter right off of her front two when we get on top of this black pepper she wants to get two she breaks too much right behind her shoulder she has plenty of hair there and that scares me once we peel all that hair [Music] we're all off to be competing against each other now there's going to be one more heifer coming in i'm going to judge her all three of us go back in okay go ahead no i saw you at your house like on a couch did you sit on a towel that's kind of where i was guessing that that effort won that second class out we got that around harry in front of me um and i you know i don't know if she did it the first time but you know you kind of caught my eye the second time that she walks in in here i don't know if she's just a little nervous or not she wants to pop those rear pastors just a little bit and you know that would serve me if it's a long building issue you know but for her you know when we look at her you know she probably just runs out of body depth and runs out of muscle and just that sappy middle that that one behind her has this one is second to none in this division folks when we have that much power and mass and do-ability at the same time if we look at the base of that shoulder and see how smooth it is and how it lays in that affordable that's hard to do oh man you'll be [Applause] champions well we just made it in from the livestock show it's four o'clock we gotta leave at five and go two hours after that basketball game so not much time but i could not be any more proud of those two kids right now houston won his class it was just a class of two but that's alright he won his class and then emily won her class they went back in the ring with uh the other class winner and houston was he was not excited about competing against his sister because he did not want to lose but emily got reserved breed champion so their first time in the show ring is a success we didn't send houston in with a show stick we just sent him in with his heifer on a halter and said go have fun and going into this thing my goal my game plan was to get houston and pearl in the ring together do their thing and come out and everybody be calm and cool i'm telling you what it couldn't have gone a whole lot better really they they did awesome and i'm excited about that they're excited about it we did really good emily was competing against a black heifer there that was raised by a very very well-known angus breeder in our area it was a very good little heifer and emily didn't think she had a chance at beating that heifer and she did so that was a big success we're always happy about that so we'll see how they uh how they feel about it over the next few days and weeks but i would venture to say they're probably gonna be bit by the show bug but anyways we're gonna go watch some basketball tonight uh regionals well i mean we lose one game we're out so it's today if we win we'll play tomorrow but uh premium sales tomorrow i know some of you probably don't know what a premium sale is or understand how that works so all the kids are going to go through the show ring through the sail ring and you're not actually selling the animal it's more of a fundraiser like a community fundraiser for the kids so there is an auction but the animal still goes home with the kid at the end of the night and they get to keep the money so that's the that's the prize at the end of the year after all the work and everything for the kids so we're excited about that but anyways i'm gonna go in the house and get changed and back and forth back and forth and here we go [Applause] uh uh wow [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] uh 100. [Applause] [Music] um i think whopper's ready to see his girls what do you think yep you want to help me get their halters off of them whoppers gonna make it difficult hey pearl come on come on pearl look out dogs get back dogs get back dogs hey go get butterscotch it's fine pearl are you happy to be home i know whoppers missed you here you're free well the heifers are home the show's over the premium sale's over houston went home with jacoby he shorted out on us but it's been a long three days and i know those two heifers are happy to be home because they've been tied up in a barn for two and a half days now and they're tired so the premium cell went well butterscotch didn't quite cooperate but like i said they've been tied up in a barn for two and a half days totally new environment this is their first show this first time they've really been in that kind of environment so it's expected but uh i think the kids had a great time did you have a good time do you want to do this more in the future is this something you want to pursue more yep so if we do that obviously we're not just going to be getting a heifer for one show next year probably probably hit some jackpots and some other things so that our heifers have a little bit more experience when it comes time for the county show but i think next year will be a lot better this is this like stuff going into this we knew this was a first year thing we were going to try something new we didn't go out and get you know the most incredible heifers you could ever imagine this was just a starter set of heifers and um i think pearl probably could have worked out she could have been a little bit um easier going for houston's first one but he was he's a little bit nervous throughout the whole time but he did good i'm very proud of him i'm very proud of emily both of you did a good job and uh it's over and i'm exhausted i'm tired i know those heifers are tired they're running and bucking and playing with whopper now they'll probably be laying down out here sleeping soon so that's it for this video i hope you guys enjoyed it maybe in the future let us know what you guys think do you want to see more livestock show type stuff we gonna should we get more heifers next year and uh keep pursuing this thing i think the kids enjoyed it i enjoyed it it's a lot of work yeah it's a lot of work for a long time leading up to it but uh it's a lot of fun so guys thanks for watching we hope you enjoyed it y'all have a great day and as always we'll see you on the next video peace gopro flashing you
