"It's going to be a really tight season!" 👀 | Albon, Norris and Russell preview F1 2024

I really do feel like that the Haggard old face of of Formula 1 in Britain but I've got the bright fresh young faces of George Russo Lando Norris and Alex auor who've been having a lot of fun and actually I suppose rekindling some childhood memories out on the carting track you all carted against each other actually not sure we did cart against each other Lando and I carted when we were maybe when you was a baby I did when I was in when we were 12 when we were 12 I raced at Alex but I always like Lando and I looked up to Alex Alex was like our hero he was my hero okay I won't ask who W anyway but good but well yeah um but it is the eve of the Season listen there's been a lot of Doom and Gloom around uh the capabilities of of your teams and others Catching Red Bull can you lift that Gloom just a little bit Lando yeah absolutely I mean Williams are looking very very quick at the minute um faor I don't know why they're laughing but uh yeah I mean we're looking good Mercedes also looking very strong so Alex is the favorite but uh I think we can I think we can catch them up okay fair enough I'm glad you are the favorite Alex um I mean it it's you're stronger year on year um can you be upwardly mobile from sth in the constructors or that that that cash converters team RB whatever they're called are they going to get get ahead of you um they made a huge jump I think you've already seen it uh in the testing um but it's close out there that's that's one thing which we've um which we've realized is that there isn't really backfield team anymore there there's a huge Midfield pack and then there's kind of like a top five which is where these guys are belonging to but um we're not far away a couple tents a few tents will'll we'll be there but we we don't have it right now yeah but I mean you know you you you can improve year on you and and what's it been like a year now of of James vows in charge someone obviously George knows very well but what kind of differences he worked on that team I would say this is actually his first true car um he joins the way the timing of him joining last year meant that he didn't really have much impact on on where we were um so what you've noticed or what we've noticed is that the car feels totally different there's been a huge philosophy change culture change as well um it does create setbacks in some ways because we've we've really changed the car to a point where we we need to understand it we we're a little bit we're not lost but we are figuring out where where we need to be on it um three days of testing isn't enough so we we we are still discovering what we need to do but otherwise you know James has been um instrumental in in the way that he's he's changing the car that was the kind of thoughtful intelligent answer we know for the end of these for you had a year of Andrea Stella who has been a revelation in that job as well Lando so what what can he do over the can you improve as much over the course of this year as you did over the course of last year um I think we can improve to to the same extent as we did last year probably not because it was such a big step step you know we improved at least over a second in one season which is not not easy to do but um I think we've taken steps forward already in in different areas but just not in enough to to say we can challenge against Ferrari and and Red Bull for the time being but uh with Andrea with everyone you know with with Rob and and David that we've had come into the team um in moreas than one we've been able to to take some big steps forward which is very helpful but uh the Gap to the top is still very big so they've taken another big step over the winter and need to try and make sure we keep up with that I know you want to win this year your first win you hope Mercedes can win again this year is the good thing that now you've got the redesigned car everything you bring to it will fully integrate with with the kind of Base architecture you have yeah I think so the last two years it's been really challenging the car hasn't been performing as we wanted and it took a long time to understand why that is and I think we've got a really good base now to to build upon but as Lando said you know Red Bull are are really in a strong uh place right now they're a step ahead ahead of everybody I think it's going to be a really tight season between you know ourselves McLaren Aston and and Ferrari so there's some excitement for second but obviously we we want that excitement for for first okay well listen great to have three young Brits account you as well born in Britain Al you're right like you drive under the tie license I know I know and I I wish you all the very best for the year ahead Good Luck lovely to see fiercely competitive onent trct but really good friends as well off it
