It's Bath Time for the Mares

hi guys welcome back to my channel and welcome to Apollo's first bath or first bath for all three girls of 2024 they need it they're fuy they're ity let's get them bathed first things first I've just set up everything I need um Sponge because my lck can be a little bit stupid that's just being nice as well I just need to set up a few more things and then we'll get cracking on with the first horse well this was fun bathing Apollo I wasn't going to Bath Apollo first actually because it is obviously her first bath and I was ideally going to go do the other two girls first but Apollo had sort of finished her breakfast so I thought right she's still got a way to go for her breakfast so I will take her for a bath and she can eat as she goes so it was a good idea at the time it just didn't work all that well um what I found with appy is that she really hates having her back touched even with the sponge and the brushes that's something where working on with her but to say the the truth she was absolutely good as gold really considering it's her first bath and the first time she's actually having a bath and obviously dad was there he was watching and not doing anything but with Apollo moving around a little bit we just wanted to have a little bit of extra strength or lines holding on her mainly because she is very quick when she wants to do something or something scares her or she panics so having two lines actually did help a little bit didn't stop her from moving around all that much but she is a baby didn't really blame her so it was about taking in her stride and how she liked it and obviously giving her a lot a lot of Praise yeah I do swear I didn't mean to that was mainly because I touched her bum literally I touched her bum with a sponge and she jumped should have SW her already know that one but they yeah it happens in the moment sort of things um so get her there was a bit of a issue around her bum especially trying to Bath her tail God that was filthy you should have seen the amount of mud that was in that water that had come off of her tail it was yuck but now she's B and she's all clean which I actually quite like um but yes very good experience for her so hopefully with the more and more we do as it is lovely weather right now and it is beginning warm I think the temperature today is about 26 so it is very warm and it was obviously a nice time to Bath the girls oh you're being so good good girl there [Music] girl you good what you doing what you doing to you e what you doing to you good girl I'm covered all your I'm covered in all your food I smell like freaking oh sorry Dad right good girl you're doing so good the one thing I didn't do very well is preparing my clean water bucket for obviously rinsing off now I do have a hose pipe thanks to Adam but I forgot to bring it so it was a spare of the- moment bathing them sort of thing so clean bucket of water fresh clean water just to rinse her off different sponge again so I have two sponges one for the Soaps and one for rinsing off sorry guys I'm not very well at all I have a very horrible chest infection coming I believe but she was good considering none of them likes being rinsed off obviously using warm water but none of them liked it they're all a bit funny about being rinsed off but can't really blame her which is but she will get used to it and you can hear tricks call a lot so does Dixie actually Dixie called whilst Apollo was out and so did tricks which is the first time ever that they've actually called um so a little bit they're all getting together sort of thing and um yeah but rinsing off now so clean water yep there we go and I moved very quickly when I seen her legs come up I was like no so she what she does is she'll lift her right hand before she kicks out or strikes or anything like that so it's like yeah I'm kind of used to you now I'm moving out the way eat the Hedge I don't care if you eat the Hedge eat the Hedge no Apollo you're going to scare yourself back up back such an idot dad keep hold of it or let go stop it silly it's just water you're going to have to get over it out loud it stop it just shut up and eat you did earlier sake well now maybe she'll stand still stop stop it being [Music] get should prob get yourself now off now you calm down really go see you just don't let your back end beinged your chest and your sides and everything like that done see one hello hello up back up back up see no problem sorry cat I pinched your black bucket oh bath and tricker time now tricker is normally the best one out of my two big girls a two bath Now tricks can be a bit funny about places being touched around her but that's normal I'm completely used to it uh tricker on the other hand needed a bath because she still has quite a lot of her winter coat left she is deshedding but she's deshedding to the point point that um she's patchy everywhere if if to say at least she is very very patchy in places so we we needed to give her a good bath just because of how much she was scratching now Trix doesn't normally scratch in her stable out in the field she will roll if she is very itchy that's Dixie um but yeah to get her feeling more comfortable in her own body bit like human we decided to give her a bath as well technically all three were getting a bath anyway but tricker definitely needed one now you can hear dad um moaning about the head collars that's mainly because I put Dixie's Head color on tricks Now Dixie and tricker fit both sort of head colors but not all the same all the time like this one was just that tiniest bit tight so it went on the last hole but it fitted and I was bathing I wasn't going to use my really good head collars for bathing they're going to get wet and Soggy and ruined so no my fluffy head colors that they're wearing at the moment was not used for bathing same Principle as Apollo or same principal in bathing any of my girls I always have a fresh clean bucket of water ready for rinsing off when I get the hose connected I'll be using the hose for rinsing off but here I was using my pink rubber Curry conb just to help loosen off and obviously give her make sure she had nice good lather on her so the shampoo could work I did a mixture of shampoos with tricks I did a bit of tea tree oil um and mint shampoo along with the day M calm day and Martin Gallop enhancer shampoo well the coat enhancer shampoo um I did a little bit of a mix just to help tricks really don't know why I did that mix I just felt like you know what we'll put a little bit of this in here and a little bit of that and see what we come up with so yes it was a little bit of uh let's try it everyone has different options when it comes to bathing me I just like yeah let's bath them they need bathing let's bath unfortunately I can't bath them in the winter which is what I would like to do what you saw there was tricker literally tucking her bum in because I the bucket hit the corner b of her bum which none of them like even Dixie hates it as as well so you'll see that again where Dixie shoots forwards and then like you're in my backside get off wasn't in her you know what I mean going to shut up now cuz I'm making a right fool of myself but did do their tails all three had their tails done trickers was filthy as well hey tricky yeah at me I don't you come back a little bit H oh what I was I going to say sorry lost train of thought so rinsing tricky off she is relatively good can't really say anything bad about her she's relatively good two rinse off she was doing these horrible little well not horrible they're quite cute I would say but these very grunt noises every time he touched a certain part of her belly or her back it was just like really I know it's a little bit too cold but you need to be rinsed off and this was quite funny cuz Dad was constantly talking to them all and I'm trying to stand there and go yeah okay and Trix just wanted to move like away from me she was getting fed up at me at this point but I was soaked but because it was so warm I was like sweating my ass off but being cool getting soaking wet while trying to Bath these horses because let's face it no question when you've got a bathing time unless you have the facilities like for these amazing showers that people have and you know not tied to a gate post um yeah you probably don't get soaking wet when you have one of those horse showers but we don't and I don't mind not having a horse shower I like doing it this way I can monitor how warm the water is and yeah B basically make sure I get all the suds off but that's me one of those you Lear live and you learn okay cater yeah jump you thank I know but if you don't let me get out come on come on come on come on you been a good girl so far just got your left today a good girl give good first time CH yeah that was good tear up I can't do it don't tear up all right chicky TRS you have to wait a minute i' got to reset everything for Dixie good girl just SP the to I didn't swe SC to end obviously with a tricky sweat scraping off and swing the tail the iconic spin your horse's tail when you bed it believe me I think I got more W spinning H tail than anything else but she does look relatively well in herself they've been weighed they've been measured cuz we had to check on Apollo's height and growth and how she's growing throughout obviously this time period where she is bound bound where she is more likely to grow shall we say so yeah monitoring them keeping an eye on their weight especially with laminitis going around I am very much monitoring my girls how much time they're getting in the field how much time they're in their Stables what work they're doing but obviously we have a lesson on Wednesday with my lovely instructor CLA who I have already had a lesson with but I haven't filmed it because I was mainly focused on riding and listening to what she was saying rather than have I got the camera in the correct position have I got this anyway right on to Dixie Dixie was very much yeah let's go let's face it she was like yeah okay the other two have gone let's go she was like forward marching out of that box out of the stables and it was like okay yeah you don't know what's happening yet so this happy little Larry girl keep it up gave her a bath she is bathed and I will explain that in a little bit tricker was calling constantly um when Dixie was away not so much when Apollo went but when Dixie was away Trier was definitely calling but then again it's the same as when Trix goes away from Dixie Dixie calls but she's slowly slowly accepting that it's okay if tricker goes away because she does have Apollo there all the other horses tricker is taking a little bit more time for her to get yeah okay Dixie's gone but I've still got Apollo and I've still got the other horses around me so that's fine it's just taking a little bit of time tricker is the oldest by the way so that is that as well this one quiet quiet I know go hi baby you shut up right now she's being really good okay so whil I am sat here watching this back as well I'm going to say as I tried to say at the end of the Vlog that I will set aside a day or two to go down and do a vlog of deck who is Devon ecin Crisis Support they obviously Bas in Devon they are very close to me they literally 2 minutes down the road from me and obviously I have known deck for quite a while along with the team that is working there to support the amazing horses that they have but I am asking you guys if you could back in today okay almost done almost done myy easy easy you're almost done girl you're almost done my love good girl for on her legs right come on M my girl it y That's it all three done come on my baby come here good girl good girl well done well done right talk you through a little bit about the stuff we us when baffing for Dixie we do use the gallop no it's not it's the nap tea tree and mint shampoo because she can become very very itchy especially in the summer and she does react to fly bites not very well so the mint and tea tree do help her it eases her skin especially where she's been scratching and itchy but the other two girls trigger was B in the Gallup Galore which is by K Dayton Martin in color enhancing shampoo now obviously I've had two bay horses for absolutely ages where'd you go I've had two bays for ages Apollo got bathed in this as well now it does say four bay horses she's obviously a chestnut so she got bath in it as well so I'm interested to see what kind of colors it brings out on her cuz she's gone a very golden groovy sort of chestnut color old girl here you can see has really helped be shed some of that horrible winter coat that she still had left but right now none of them are talking to me other than Dixie because they've been bathed but this one oh you are coming to say hello was very good for her first ever bath a few little mishaps but all in all a very good little girl hopefully with some more encouragement and Trust she will get used to being bathed an awful lot more because you're very good you're just very nervous of things and you were good as well my love you take a lot longer to do than anybody else because we have to make sure that the shampoo and all that gets right into her man and then down into her roots to help where she zipped you excuse me don't make me use it on you to wash your M get off hello happy hello happy okay now you going to be wet tomorrow look at your Coke now starting to shine you look a lot happier still a little bit lean but she is on a nice feed now and Dixie hello my love hello what's that sweetheart they beautiful Madam is eating she's still soaked the tricker is drying off very slowly as well is she oh so she is didn't bring up her coat as much as I thought it would get the boot polish out no I'm not putting boot polish on I just it's taking most of that shedding yeah stuff off of our back you might need another one but for now not too bad that ends this Vlog on bathing the horses guys um but yes if there's anything you would like to see in the upcoming Vlogs just let me know I am
