Amen. Iβm thankful for a team like CityAlight in the current worship music scene.
I will never not need to hear that Christ paid for all my sin on the cross. I can find my sin daily and it hurts. Sin does breed fear. Only the blood of Christ can encourage me and show me healing.
I hadn't heard of CityAlight, but I like this.
Kind of seems to be in a hymn meter
I LOVE CityAlight. I just heard this yesterday, and the lyrics are sound, as always.
Their song βThe Goodness of Jesusβ is absolutely beautiful, as well, and I find myself listening to it on repeat sometimes.
I'm a huge CityAlight fan. I just love the depth of the solid theology and the music is amazing!
Their last three songs before this release are my favorite (Yet Not I, Jesus Strong and Kind, Your Will be Done). SO, I was super excited for a new song!!
I was disappointed. While it's still a good song, it's nothing on what CityAlight usually create. The lyrics are not quite as profound (it seems much more generic -Maybe that is Hillsongs influence?) and the music is harder to sing than a usual CityAlight song.
I live in hope that this is a once off, that CityAlight will continue writing some of the best christian songs/hymns of our day.
I'd be interested to hear if anyone else was disappointed/the song was less than expected. Soli Deo Gloria!
City Alight is an incredible group. Too bad their music have been removed from the chinese apple music, which I use.
Hot take: I didn't like this song.
For context, I found them in 2018 when Yet Not I was released and loved them and have introduced quite a few of their songs to my church (I'm a worship leader). I was really looking forward to this release and was prepared to instantly add it to our rotation but was disappointed when I heard it. The lyrics are great as usual but the music and melodies feel very forced. Almost like they came up with the intro, the verse, and the chorus and just meshed them all into one song. Just feels clunky.
Love CityAlight! I haven't listened to this one a whole lot though, but I do quite like it
I love their music! I have two of their albums on Amazon Prime. Norton Hall Band is also one of my favorites.
