more of a crusade than a commercial Enterprise and this enigmatic model promises to increase electric vehicle adoption rates by up to 50% by 2030 how will the model 2 dominate the electric car market and why Tesla seems to have accurately predicted where we would be by 2024 since they announced plans to produce an affordable electric car in 2020 because every other car manufacturer in the truest sense in the US has made it abundantly clear that they don't care about addressing this issue seriously they've even seemingly sabotaged the industry by half-hearted attempts to release extremely impractical electric car versions they previously produced perhaps you've set aside $6,000 to buy a Chevy Bolt from General Motors a renowned budget EV notorious for its shockingly slow charging speed battery malfunctions and explosions pressure to produce affordable electric cars comes from two different sources firstly consumers want cheaper electric cars EV penetration rates in 2023 had reached 30 to 40% in the US so this technology could completely change the game secondly automakers in China and Europe have now lowered production cost to the point where the cost of manufacturing electric cars in China is about a third lower than anywhere else in the world the rest of the industry is looking over over their shoulders wondering how they'll compete globally as Chinese cars begin flooding their traditional markets it's a great question in fact no car manufacturer including Tesla will survive in the long run if they cannot produce a cheap and competitive product for the current Global Market scenario let's quickly look at what's happening at Ford right now is the companies just announced their own $25,000 electric car and development and that's because they finally grasp something that Tesla has known for years one of the main reasons CEO Jim Farley cited for uing a smaller and cheaper electric car platform is the competition from China he specifically mentioned the new byd seagull a compact 4-door hatchback from China with a starting price at under 10 grand now we're witnessing a reverse in their previous Direction with electric cars to build a much smaller vehicle and they say the new compact platform will also support the design of small pickup trucks this comes as we've seen for nearly abandon its goal of having the F-150 Lightning for 2024 something Tesla has long known about large vehicles and electrification not going hand in hand and certainly while there are some large Teslas like the cybertruck most of the vehicles Tesla produces and will produce will always be Compact and aerodynamic an essential aspect for Tesla's survival in this context is a completely new manufacturing process that the company claims could save up to 50% in construction costs and accelerate production time the unbox process essentially revolves around reducing the amount of work done at each stage of the the production line avoiding any unnecessary movements or disassemblies of the car or its parts during the move down the production line many also believe that some or all the frame components of the model 2 will be high-press diecast a process that not only helps reduce manufacturing cost but also save space on the factory floor traditionally the chassis is formed from hundreds or thousands of Metal Sheets which are then spot welded riveted bolted or bonded together to create a complete shell for example seats will be directly attached to the battery pack under the floor so the entire assembly is then lifted into a fully painted body shell to avoid having to remove and reinstall the doors Next Generation drivetrain and Battery Technology will also be crucial for cost reduction Tesla says they'll achieve a 75% reduction in Cobalt for future batteries and eliminate the use of rare earth metals in the motor until now there is no detailed information about which drivetrain will be revealed for the model 2 but it's likely to follow other Tesla models and be offered in single and dual motor versions with a possibility of high performance versions being introduced later all predictions about and from Tesla must be evaluated on past experience there were rumors that the model 2 would start production at the gigafactory in Shanghai in 2021 at that time Chinese sources indicated that this would be the first new car designed at Tesla's China design center and would be manufactured on a new assembly line being built at gigafactory in Shanghai the selling price was said to be 160,000 Chinese Yuan equivalent to under $25,000 however in 2023 reports emerged about a new Tesla Factory in noo Leon Mexico where the model 2 would be the first car produced later with interest rates Rising Elon believed that the Mexico Factory might be delayed until economic conditions improved then there were speculations followed by Tesla's announcement that the production of the model 2 would actually begin first in Austin everyone in the automotive business sees China as a threat to their business model and rightfully so the Chinese government's invested billions possibly hundreds of billions to make the country a leader in electric vehicle technology Now Chinese companies are eyeing foreign markets where industry leaders see the wave of cheap Chinese cars flooding in the near future byd is even building its own car carrying Fleet to bring its cars to foreign markets in fact the products China releases to the market are some of the most famous copied models meanwhile the model 2 Redwood is positioned as a comp compor to Conventional family hatchbacks with a length of about 13 ft this could be achieved through a slightly higher rear roof line while still allowing for a conventional Hood with space for recently revealed a battery pack which is a lithium iron phosphate battery that they claim lasts a million miles now we know there are many lithium phosphate batteries currently reaching a million miles but this is different cattle's building a plant in the US currently licensing their Battery Technology so now we've got Tesla Ford and General Motors all soon to be using cattle technology to produce batteries in the US in the near future Tesla is currently also using lfp and some of its vehicles and this could be an integral part of the technical composition of the cheaper model along with new assembly methods the company is reportedly preparing to deploy the selda frame technology on the german-made model y as part of a Cooperative relationship with China's byd lighter and more compact than conventional module-based structures this technique saves more space allowing for additional cells to overcome the lower energy density of older lfps it has about 10 to 15% higher energy density cattle CEO Robin Jang revealed in an interview with Bloomberg that they're working with Tes to develop new battery chemistry to enable faster charging however Jen didn't delve into more details when he said that they're working together on Battery Technology to charge faster he only mentioned they're researching particularly new electrochemical structures referring to cell chemistry with an initial capacity of about 10 gwatt hours in 2021 Tesla announced that fixed storage units like the power wall for household users and the MEAP pack for a large scale fixed energy storage would be converted to lfp batteries partly due to the availability of iron although the project targets stationary Vehicles expanding into lfp batteries for electric cars seems entirely conceivable according to an Insider Tesla also sees the deal with cattle to purchase equipment as a cost-saving measure to set up new facilities to bolster overall battery production Tesla has expanded the gig Nevada plant in collaboration with Panasonic located about 15 km East Areno this is where pan Sonic manufactures 2170 cylindrical cells for the US made model 3 and Y and Tesla aims to produce 4680 cylindrical cells at this plant for the semi among other things Sparks toown is right next to Reno so Tesla's new lfp MEAP pack cell manufacturing plant with cattle will be located very close to their Panasonic facility furthermore in Texas there are actually four different locations that Tesla's recently leased within one Regional location which seems like Tesla will also be many manufacturing batteries there and they are really pushing hard on this plan with a target of 20 million EVS we don't think they'll reach that number over 10 million seems feasible because the $25,000 electric car not only fits that price point but will also be very appealing it'll be groundbreaking it'll be very impressive and honestly this moment is crucial for Tesla to make a new move for the company according to catle Battery Technology could serve various market segments such as buses light trucks heavy duty trucks or anything you can think of like the model 2 Redwood which is quite versatile for everyone it's a lithium ion phosphate battery and obviously it also needs a charging speed of around 350 KW of course you need a compatible charging architecture and Tesla is doing well with this with their very Advanced charging system a suitable system for that but yes that's very very fast charging it doesn't degrade after a th000 Cycles so imagine if you go exactly 300 M on every cycle you're saying even after 30,000 Mi of driving it won't grade cattle says if you use the first 60,000 mes then you might see a 5 to 7% degradation of the battery apparently cattle they never lie about high longevity batteries they also introduce batteries with lifespans of 600,000 Mi and a million miles it performs well in cold conditions as well as high temperatures without losing efficiency though it seems unbelievable this is the first lfp battery that can do that and it also has a better energy density than previous types of batteries that Tesla's used in the model 3 and model one why so we believe that those are two types of batteries that Tesla could use in the model 2 it's a great solution for the shock we witnessed with a cybertruck Tesla stated that the more affordable model tool will be introduced with a 48 volt system of the cybertruck because the company will still maintain the other technical specifications the new low voltage 48 volt electrical system which enables cybertruck steering by wire function will be transferred to Future Tesla vehicles it has been praised for its agility especially beneficial for the large and heavy cyber truck in those tight garage spaces or narrow parking lots Tesla even plans to release an update to increase the cybertruck's turning radius by expanding the current 3° rotation of the rear wheels to a whopping 10° however what's often overlooked is that the rear wheel steering and driveby wire system were made possible thanks to the introduction of the new 48volt low voltage architecture for Tesla it requires significantly fewer copper wires while allowing smaller current transmission to the front and rear wheel drive Motors something that couldn't be achieved with a 12volt architecture Tesla seems intent on transitioning entirely to the 48 volt architecture in the future including model twos of Redwood intended for the mass Market set to be released in 2025 it's still unclear whether the 48 volt low voltage system on the model 2 will be combined with the cybertruck's high voltage 800 volt fast charging architecture enabling a 20-minute charge time on the Supercharger so far the rumored battery of the model 2 Redwood is said to have a capacity of around 54 kwatt hours as it resembles a small compact crossover but weighs over 30% more than the model 3 potentially pushing its range to new heights of over 300 miles moreover Elon Musk has been noted as saying that Tesla is achieving a two for one goal regarding the cost basis of the model 2 platform referring to the goal of cutting production costs in half by 50% compared to the requirements of the model 3 this means that the cost of goods sold for the model 2 would be under $220,000 so even at an average price of $27,000 Tesla would still be making nearly $9,000 profit per car even from an affordable mainstream electric vehicle like the model 2 furthermore a concept that could be a Quantum Leap for Tesla's electric vehicle and humanoid robot systems is the Improvement of limitations in AI training and full self-driving computation Tesla's full self-driving technology has made commendable strides in enhancing Vehicle Safety as is evidenced by the latest statistics with the autopilot feature activated Tesla vehicles report an accident on average every 5.39 million miles driven in stark contrast to the national average of one crash per 670,000 mies this indicates that Tesla's use of autopilot is approximately 8.04 times safer than the national average for drivers in the United States even without autopilot Tesla vehicles are still 1.49 times safer these figures underscore the significant safety benef benefits of Tesla's technology on the road although it has not yet planned the ambitious goal of being 10 times safer as outlined in Tesla's master plan part two after over 3 years it seems that Tesla's fully automatic driving beta program FSD has come to an end this change was highlighted by the Electric Vehicle
