Is This THE CHEAPEST ROOM in Sri Lanka? Galle Coast

the beautiful Gul for is a UNESCO world heritage site in Sri Lanka most visitors choose to stay out of town at a beach either up or down the coast in this video we'll show you our amazing budget option at o cabins only 4 kilm North and also the lovely Beach option at unat tuna so it looks as say there's a new place being built but at the moment there are five small cabins like this oh they are so cute and look at that we've got the the one closest to the bar and seating area but with the least number of steps so that's pretty cool Welcome to our humble abod you going to give us a tour Le yeah here's the tour inside it's fairly simple we just have a palm fronze roof there we've got a mosquito net which is going to be very handy and this is our bed lovely mattress with some blankets some sheets enough room for our bags and things I've just realized in ventilation lots of ventilation so this is our home we've got electricity there so that's good we can plug in and charge and we're on the Wi-Fi 2o so we've got the best of the modern world and best of all look at this from out the window there is the sea right there looking straight down to the Sea and our friendly hosts in front of us here thank you thank you so much guys lovely you happy with this Mandy I am now the great thing is it's costing um th000 rupees a night if you want the addition of like additional comfort of a fan you can pay an extra 800 but I don't know I think we'll see how we go for the first night to see what's it's going to be like just with the seab breeze and the lovely I don't know lovely sound of the Waves so this is what it's like at the O cabins coming out onto the beach quite Pleasant because it is monsoon season the water's a little bit rough at the moment for swimming so you can go in and have a dip but you have to be very careful these are the beaches here at this part of the coast about four or 5 km up the coast from gal a local just pointed these out to me I thought there were bottle caps on the beach but no they're stinging things like jellyfish apparently FL all around the place so we decided to eat here at the onishi cabins so I've ordered the EG fried noodles now being like a beach resort the price is are dearer this was 800 I think 700 rupees so maybe double the price we paid yesterday in Columbo but when you look at the setting you can see why not a bad place to sit and have you lunch and all important taste p m look at there ginger in there as well it's delicious I ordered the egg cotu which is really awesome it's fried up with Ry and vegetables it looks really good it was 700 rupees there we go M delicious yeah the egg the vegetables everything really nice not too spicy she said it was going to be spicy but not too spicy at all I'm going to enjoy this and this is the washroom at the noisy beach beach cabins I do like these very good the way they've done the handles simple but basic typical Sri Lankan style you've got a shower there nice and functional um and a tap at the bottom and it just goes down into the drain there you can hang your stuff up and do a have your shave and then there's a toilet as well with the light flickering a bit and a western style toilet clean functional serves our purpose here the is it on you get cabins yes they have a pet squirrel oh tiny two months old is your baby yes baby oh lovely he doesn't run away oh this is so lovely oh where's he going Le over my back he's over your back I hope he doesn't run away run away baby where's he going smell but Le he's here oh he's on you yeah cute one so cute oh no a snake got the mother so they rescued him that's so lovely oh oh my word so there are snakes around no they uh give me my friend the colus side in columia okay you got them from a friend put the squirrel down here now he's come to live by the beach how lovely so wonderful they're amazing climbers aren't they we don't have anything like this in New Zealand so I think we found the best belly breakfast in G place called Shanta and we've come this morning for like a local Curry so here we have I'm not too sure I'm sure that's D some type of spring onion maybe I'm not too sure and I've gone for one egg with curry and it comes with red rice of rice yes the Le's one without an egg it's 2 200 rupees and mine with an egg is 250 rupees I could have had fish in the afternoon afteron it's a bit dearer 350 but what a b so it turns out this is actually dried coconut or coconut mixed with chili absolutely Del delicious I think it's like the famous coconut tumball and this is like a a fish type of dish with beans and then the D and the Egg col reading they're just normal B really tasty very zingy great way to start the day so the all important taste test this one here wow it's coconut and chili and lime it's delicious this one here is D thank you and here comes the tea the plain tea plain te was 50 rupe pretty good value thank you and then this one here the one that looks like beans or spring onion I think it's a fish it's delicious and then this one that the egg is in it is fish H it's a lovely type of Curry delicious an amazing value at 250 rupees wonderful seriously for excellent quality and cheap food their Shanty restaurants there just opposite the bus station is the place to go 550 rupees for a fantastic fill and Curry for both of us and te brilliant best place in go we're get the bus now to unoa tuna tuna well we were trying to get a bus to tuna but one of the problems in Sri Lanka is now that the country is like going through high rates of inflation and like people are like a lot poorer than they were so just little things like the bus ticket should have been 48 that's what the guy information told us and the guy there sort of you can see he's doing like a double take and he's like oh yeah it's 100 per person now I know it's not a lot more you know what I mean like it's but just I don't know every time you which is like quite often when you try to do things you realize you are being G cuz you're a tourist so we've come out from gal to unat tuna for the day just to check it out it's not far from gal it's only about four or 5 km we jumped there's a few buses around I think but I think we jumped on a Tock Tok and it got us here for 372 rupees about a 20- minute to to ride this is what it looks like un tuna Beach it's a nice long sweeping beach with palm trees plenty of resorts at this end there's plenty of cafes and restaurants and so on people in the water here in monsoon season it's still very nice it's still very swimmable the water way more than the beach we were staying in a couple of kilometers north of gal up this end you've got the Buddha statue at the top there and that lovely little Headland over there and there's also uh a beach on the other side of that apparently and lots more Resorts with your usual laidback Beachside places it's pretty nice the water temperature is very pleasant it's kind of dumping a little bit here so you've got to get past the waves and get in and you're fine but yeah this is what Uno tuna looks like maybe we'll walk back a little bit uh along the road and show you what that's like after I've had a bit of beach time walking down the main drag of Uno tuna and we've got plenty of restaurants some of clothes ATMs cafes little shops a lot of the restaurants are in Russian there's a big Russian uh present here so menus in Russian and in English not many prices but the usual Beach Resort prices which are two or three times higher than most towns main core 1,700 for a burger for example still pretty good compared to the West it's got that kind of Thailand feel really laidback everyone on motor bikes nice and chilled I just really wanted to show you a lovely room here at the Linda guest house so bed Mozzy net but look at this oh I think it's so wonderful and just outside our window look what a marvelous feature it's um water in there but there are goldfish as well so they're going to be eating the mozes there Le pretty isn't it pretty it's just rained so it's watered all the plants and so we come through so lovely I just really want to show you the bathroom beautiful theme is carried on here as well look at that it is so so wonderful just so realistic so here I am all ready to go yes Mandy three bags that's that's me that's me but now we're off on our epic journey to Tissa
