hey everybody welcome back to the channel and today we're looking at a brand new webcam released just today this is the Logitech MX Brio so these are two names that anybody who knows Logitech knows very well the MX and the Brio and then they did a little bit of a chocolate of my peanut butter peanut butter of my chocolate kind of thing and brought the two together in the Box you get the Logitech MX Brio with monitor mount a real chunky USBC to USBC cable and you do need to utilize this cable for this camera you can't just grab any old cable out of the drawer well you can but if you do you're going to be very limited on what you can actually output to your screen you definitely won't be able to put out the Mac specs with a lesser cable and last but not least the instructions so looking at the camera itself you definitely get a familiarity in terms of other cameras that Logitech has offered in the past you can see the Dual mics on either side of the camera and there's an indicator light to let you know when the camera's on updating or anything like that the MX Brio has a pretty cool little privacy feature all you got to do is Twist around the lens and a shutter closes up that's going to keep Big Brother's eye off of you he says while he literally has four cameras pointed at him the mounting clamp has multiple access points to be able to shape it any which way you need to to be able to point it properly at you but what's even cooler is it detaches quite easily from the camera because it's just magnetic but how you going to mount the camera now well underneath that little magnetic ball there's a quarter inch thread for tripod or any other number of mounting options all right well I think we've waited long enough I think it's time to see what this camera looks like and this is what it looks like at least out of the box so what we're looking at right now is our widest field of view this is a 90° field of view and it zooms in as tight as a 65° field of view so I'm seeing a lot of things that having a lot of opinions right off the bat about this everything right now is in its default mode this is literally what it looks like when you plug and play at least in my setup and you see the default white balance is a little cool for my skin there's a lot of blue going on right now I've got a big white light shining on me so that's probably got a little bit to do with it I'm noticing a lot of noise around my shirt and anything else that's darker right now but the image is very clear and there's a lot of detail going on you can see all sorts of horrible things going on my face you can see the Mist in the back from my humidifier and you can decently make out the textures on my chairs but if if I could say something about this default image it's making the baby blues pop but if they were any more vibrant you'd assume that I'm shooting this live from a racus what we're going to do next is jump into some software and see what we can't do about cleaning this image up a little bit okay so now we're inside the Logitech ghub software and this isn't the only software solution you can use to control this camera but this is kind of the main one now obviously you can see me on the screen this is actually the G hub's live preview of the camera and in case you weren't fully aware you could see here what camera you're using but let's have a look over at the left here at all the controls so we're going to start in the crop tab so the first thing you have a bunch of presets that you can use here so I'm on manual but then you can also have different field of views but you also have those options on the previous screen so I don't know what exactly those are here for but you can make any presets you want so you can really get into the nitty-gritty of this and set up whatever you need show mode it's turned on right now but it doesn't really matter based on what we're doing at the moment what it does do is when you tilt your camera down it flips the image so it's right side up when you're presenting something to somebody else say for example I was doing some sketches down here you wanted to see or I was doing an unboxing just to be just to show you we can just do it like this so you can see how it flips over like that and I can be typy typy typing it's actually a decent quality overhead camera to be honest so next you have those field of view presets so we're at 90 like I said and then this is what 78 would look like and what 65 would look like from here you can also do a lot of zooming in and out so you can get real tight oo you can actually watch my beard grow back in in real time and then when you're zoomed in you notice that these position things come up so you can actually move around and frame it up any way you you see fit and at any point at any of these tabs you can reset to what the defaults were just by clicking here all right next we're going to go to exposure so right now again you got a bunch of presets so right now it's on the default so here if I set it to streaming all I can see here is that it turned off the low light compensation just go back to manual for these purposes so we've got our Auto exposure on right now so if I turn that off see it gets a little dark but now you've got a shutter speed and you've got an ISO here want to set it to a normal shutter speed one over 60 makes sense here because I'm doing 30 frames per second so to have double is actually a good thing here now the iso I'm obviously really underexposed here so I'm just going to boost it up until I'm happy then you've got your HDR your high dynamic range now it's turned on right now and that's why I got the baby blues but it's also why a lot of this noise is happening like if you look at those lights back there they're going cuckoo bananas and I don't really want that so I'm going to turn it off and now that's what you get now you can see that the lights are working a lot better back here the color range is a little wonky on my face right now I feel a little bit more muted than I did before but you can see that a lot of the noise also disappeared I'm not a fan of most HDR settings on most webcam software so let's take this opportunity to go to image now and this is going to give you a bunch of other stuff so first thing you got is your whitee balance it's on auto and you got a lot of different options here so if I can hit warmer that becomes a little bit more reasonable and there's the cooler oh there's a black and white one ooh not going to lie this looks really good in black and white so let's just go to the manual one and we'll just kind of do all this from scratch so we're going to turn off the auto wipe balance right here and it gives you whatever this is then we're going to start messing around with it until we're happy you'll notice that they added a tint here in the manual controls something that's not in a lot of other webcam softwares to be honest and it just helps you compensate a little bit when too cool or too warm doesn't do much for your skin and then you can mess with all the other settings down here so you've got your brightness just find those sweet spots so you don't overexpose yourself saturation we want to get just maybe a little bit more color in if we can Vibrance we got to bring things to life a little bit here and then you get your sharpness here but I've learned my lesson being 40 plus sharpness is not your friend and with all said and done this is where I landed this is the most rep representative of what I can see when I'm looking around so we went from out of the box looking like this to this and the last thing that we have right here is our Focus tab now it's on autofocus it's actually a really good autofocus you notice if I kind of move around quite a bit it's keeping me in there's not a lot of searching and breathing going on it's really nice but if we wanted to go manual we do that and then we just mess around till we find what we're looking for it's always a lot harder doing it this way but it's even worse when you're trying to slide and it's actually not showing you the values as you slide you got to wait till you let go so that means you have to just blindly pick a value and hope it's good and then just kind of adjust here and there but we're just going to stick to autofocus for this now I did say that the MX Brio had compatibility with more than one software solution so let's have a look at the others real quick so this is the logi options software it's a way to bring together a lot of Hardware with different actions so if I click on the camera here you'll see where the preview would have been had I not turned it off but you see a lot of the same things going on here if I click on the settings it's just going to have a lot of things so I can do firmware updates I can check the serial number what the model is all that kind of stuff got the anti flicker here the 50 and 60 HZ store default settings backup devices all that cool stuff if I go back to the camera and I actually click on here it's going to bring up similar controls to what we saw in the ghub you got the same basic layout with the same basic tabs and the last thing you have in this software is you have your smart actions so this is kind of like an ift thing so if you can tell the shorthand of these things here you can see that this is a keyboard command that's going to do multiple things so bring to the foreground Google Chrome browser the Gmail or you got something like this where you got meeting mode so it's going to bring up zoom and it's going to bring up a notepad so you can take your notes while you have your meeting so this software very much not about content creators but again this isn't designed specifically for Content creators it's kind of sitting in that gray area for people who are working at home and people who are playing at home and you got all these categories up here with preset actions that you might want to do or you can actually build your own so if you're leaning more to the work from home side of things then this might be the software for you if not avoid it and this is the logun software now this is something to just pop up in the corner so it's not being prevalent in your face so if you look over here you can see I've actually turned on the preview now so you can see all that at once and then we've got our adjustments down here so it's the same kind of things just in a different order this time so it's got all your auto stuff here HDR your anti flicker Focus exposure low light compensation white balance and then all the other stuff as well then it's also got some filters here so you can do a little bit of messing around just by clicking on different things oh my God that's terrible so I will give it credit though cuz after I went through all of that that you notice that it's all changed and these are all the settings that I set up in the first place and you'll see some other settings here this is actually on the main page so you got right sight so if you actually have the zoom in and you start moving around it'll start to move around to kind of keep you in frame the framing distance and framing speed are just things to help right sight figure out exactly how it wants you to be framed and then again you got your show mode and then you've got your built-in microphone which we haven't listened to yet and we don't usually listen to the microphones on cameras because they're just Never As Good As microphones for real but they tell it as being a good microphone so let's give it a listen so this is what the audio of the MX Brio sounds like I'm going to actually take a listen to it after we shoot this little bit so I can get some Impressions my personal expectation is that the audio is going to be overall pretty weak it'd be very acceptable for a business call or something like that but for a content creator it's not going to cut the mustard but let's have a lesson okay it's as I expected the audio was trash it was so noisy it was so echoey it was just really not good again I'm probably of the opinion at this point that microphones just don't Along on webcams anymore and if you're going to get any realistically usable audio out of that you're probably going to be using a lot of filters even if you're the work from home type you're going to be leaning on a lot of features from Zoom or whatever to be able to cut that noise down so the MX Brio retails for $199.99 us that's $100 cheaper than the Elgato face cam Pro or the Razer Kio Pro Ultra and it's right at the same price point as the hyperx vision s so this being lined up with the price point of the hyperx Visions makes sense to me because I find those to be very comparable cameras and also the two cameras of the ones that I've reviewed that have been really really vague on what their actual sensor is they just say it's an advanced sensor it's a great sensor but it doesn't tell you what size sensor it is but overall it's a good price considering the market that it's in but I think Now's the Time to rate this thing so let's talk design I mean it's weird to talk about design with webcams cuz there's not a whole lot of innovation going on right now I really like the Privacy shutter and how easy that is to activate very similar to the Razer Kio Pro Ultra I do like the fact that there's a magnetic connection between the camera and the mount and and the fact that there's a thread underneath that so you can mount it in a different way again I'd suggest to scrap the microphones all together but again this is a problem that Logitech is having right now they're trying to really ride that line between business and gaming and given the fact that they're coming out with another version of this same camera this is the 700 model the 705 is going to be their Enterprise version but according to everything I've looked at it's the exact same camera it looks the same has the same specs so I don't really know what it is but this is where the separation needs to take place they need to put out two very different cameras for two very different user bases but I'll give design an eight it looks pretty cool there's no glaring omissions functionality it does everything you want a webcam to do there's a lot of controls over the actual image and you have a lot of different ways to access that through three different software Solutions so I'll give it an eight looking at features it's taking some swings it's got the show mode which is pretty cool it's got a bunch of presets for you in the software so if you're not really want to Tinker with those sort of things it's nice that you have them but there's nothing mind-blowing in there to set itself apart from any of the other cameras so we're going to give it a seven for features quality it takes a nice clear image we talked about the baby blues it just takes a little bit of fine-tuning to really get it to where you want it to be so I'll give it an eight for Quality because you can get there and in terms of value this is kind of sitting at the highest Pantheon of the different webcams that are out right now but it's at the lowest price point so I got to give it a nine so that's a 40 out of 50 so that gives us 80% let me know down in the comments do you agree or disagree with any of those findings and while you're down there if you're still with us you probably enjoyed the video enough to click the like and if you haven't clicked subscribe yet why don't you do it now ring the bell as well so you know when I got new videos coming out and while I've still got you here why don't you check out these videos a couple of the competing webcams and then down here subscribe to those little circles okay until next time my friends let's get to work
