well after some delay the mid-season patch is finally here and this is the most controversial one we've had there's some really cool stuff here and some really stupid stuff I'll say it right here it's definitely not going to be the same as the god patch we got in like 3.1 sorry guys that being said there is a lot to look into so I'll go over it and try to give my analysis on what's going to change subscribe if you enjoy and let's get right into it we gotta start with a less relevant change Arrow spray has reduced ink consumption by nine percent this will mainly help with being able to use your bomb or sprinkler and continue fighting not really a problem it had not really going to change much for aerospray but it's there both splattershot and end zap yep zap 85 one of the Staples of the meta are getting buffed the ground spread on both of these weapons is being reduced by 17 and the notes also specify that this will mean intensify action will help better as well since it intensifies scales to the RNG being closer to what it is on the ground and that's obviously less now this is especially relevant for zap because 85 has cooler and gets Max intensive fi which is now going to also be 17 more accurate in the air than either of these weapons need this change not really but Nintendo really likes to buff Shooters randomly I would have been somewhat okay with this if the weapons got like maybe 10 more points for special but spoiler alert they didn't not even 85 which is 180p somehow splattershot Pros finally got a buff it's going to paint about eight percent better this is especially nice for Forge which gets like two blue as a match with machine being kind of mediocre right now maybe we could see Forge picked for getting a solid amount of booya bombs but I don't know it's still 210 I think you would have to run a charge upset and even then I don't know if it's worth it the weapon just a bit too mediocre in my eyes but this is definitely a step in the right direction Luna Blaster will have 25 less jump RNG and the intensify action Curve will be easier to activate with a smaller quantity this will probably be closer to what the curve looks like on Shooters which is shown here this is a really cool change why did only Luna get it and not any of the other blasters in the game I have no idea don't get me wrong it's nice that they did this it just kind of weird that it's only Luna getting the change I don't think this will lead to a sharp uptick in Luna players especially with 92 being in the game and being comparable to it which probably hurts the amount Luna is used in but it's not bad it's a solid change Dynamo roller will have 10 frames less Whiting or the delay before you could recover your ink tank nice it is one of the weapons main weaknesses it's not enough but again another step in the right direction this is the second buff Dynamo's gotten in terms of main weapon changes so at the very least they are looking at the weapon finally we got a really important buff though paintbrush is getting the ink efficiency buff and by way more than I expected 25 percent less ink consumed both when swinging and rolling it's been kind of hard to tell how good paintbrush could be because the ink efficiency has just hurt it so badly you're gonna be able to use your curling more mainsavers will feel impactful with it and it'll be able to paint way more and get a lot more of its wavebreaker honestly I'm very curious to see how much better this weapon is going to be in this update but the main weakness of this weapon being toned back severely is very nice YouTuber is essentially getting a quality of life change where there will be some indicator to show when you're dealing over 100 damage with a partial charge this has been a gimmick exclusive to it since a patch way back in Splatoon 2. so it's nice to see that it'll be easier for players to know when they can release the shot it's not going to make it good though but like it's really nice when you actually play the weapon Lobel paints about 10 better I mean sure it's nice blob is a weapon that tries to have a lot of paint on the map it is one of the things it does and so being better at that job is not a bad change I don't think we're gonna really see the weapon that much but it's a good step finally on the main weapons is try Stringer with some pretty significant Buffs the explosions from the bow themselves will do 30 damage instead of 28 being a much more impactful Combo Number this buff also means that if you hit two bow shots onto an enemy and one explosion that will now kill cool the movement speed of the weapon while strafing is also increased by 13 definitely playing more into its mobility and I think it's a solid change honestly if try stringer's kit we're in some mediocre right now I think this could be really interesting and the main weapon is gonna feel a lot better after this update the explosion are a big part of the weapon and I think that being a much more combo heavy number is a really good change for the weapon so I'm curious to see what happens onto the soap weapons sprinklers up first basically sprinkler has three different modes that it Cycles between the longer it's out with the first mode being where it Paints the best and really the only one where it paints well this mode lasts 5 Seconds currently and will last 8 seconds after the update very small buff but we'll take it line markers do it another additional five damage this is mostly notable because it helps switch vertical flick as well as jet squelcher will now be able to two shot with it the sub is still pretty bad but I mean at least it's getting some changes it really needs that line itself to be able to do some damage before I think it's going to be that impactful but at least it's something onto the specials first up is try Zuko where the outside damage from the explosions will be increased from 40 to 60. now one of tryzuka's biggest problems is that it's very inconsistent with the amount of value you get sometimes it just doesn't get a lot of kills so making it so that they explode Illusions can combo for a two shot will increase that reliability pretty significantly this is really something where we have to see but if it does help with that I think zuka will be a solid special and weapons like shot especially after its buff squeezer and carbon roller would be the big winners from it that being said we have to see does this actually help the consistency I'll also say that if it is good that will probably help cool or stay in the meta as it's another special that will get kills decently reliably inkvac is up next so when you don't absorb anyone's ink your shot will be 50 percent larger in addition to that when you do absorb ink it can be a maximum of 25 percent bigger if you suck up the maximum amount so basically this is changing the curve what you need to know is that the explosion size when you don't absorb ink is 50 larger than it was there and the maximum size is 25 so think of it as both sides of the spectrum are larger the shot is really the best part of back right now so it being better is cool however you're not going to get to that part by a lot and I think the devs really aren't sure how to fix the actual suctioning part of the vacuum until we get something like being able to change into the shot early something that would be especially more impactful with this buff I think vac is still going to be on the bottom end of specials the most important buff of the entire patch most likely though is super chump which you could probably am expected by now they gave this thing three Buffs first off the max damage is gonna be increased from 60 to 70. most importantly this means it will combo with the outside 35 damage hit as well as other 30 damage weapons meaning getting hit by just one super jump is now much more threatening in addition the radius of that explosion is increased by 38 and the radius of the outside explosion is increased by 20 this makes it much easier for trumps to combo into each other as well as hit each other now it's not specified if this also increases the paint output so I'm going to assume it doesn't but I'll say if it ends up doing that then yeah this is gonna be really nice for terraform zones however even that aside Trump's biggest problem is that it's not not that threatening to the point where you have to deal with it yes the trumps have low HP but people have mostly just been ignoring the Chumps if we suddenly have to start shooting nine of these things down going to be one concern is that between the launch time and then them landing and waiting four seconds before exploding the time until these Buffs are going to be impactful is pretty long you'll need to be able to keep the fight in the area the super jumps are in long enough to benefit from those explosions if that is possible then I think chump will be a good entry tool and that will be massive for enzop89 and custom dually sculpture 89 will definitely be more popular due to better painting a cheaper Special by 20 points and a bomb but I think it's nice regardless if Trump is a good special that will be a very good thing for the game and this will be the best part of this match finally we did in fact get our inkjet Nerf 15 smaller radius which is nowhere near as much as the amount they buffed it by but that's a good thing 1.1 special power up was pretty common before the patch and I think running that or maybe two subs for more gear dependent weapons is gonna be a must we really have to see is Jetpack still reliable enough to get good kills my thought process is with the special power people are running yes I think inkjet will still be a top three special I think it will be fine however I think it's gonna feel a lot more fair and it's going to be a lot easier to run other things besides ballpoint or just jetpack comps in general I'm also very curious to see how this Nerf affects cooler especially if the trizooka buff isn't a lot either we could see cooler drop off as well since it is really there to just get back in after inkjet kills people this is definitely one we're gonna have to see after testing and it's going to take a while onto the points were special 170p is in the game on carbon and Clash if they keep 170 to just terrible painting weapons I guess it's okay but I usually don't like it because it just makes things kind of special spammy and also does it really help much with the weapons actual problems and yeah carbon and Clash Neo aren't going to see much increase in use like this isn't gonna make it worth picking over carbon Beckle I'm sorry guys onto the Nerfs rapid Pro Deco is 190p which I mean okay I guess rapid Deco randomly got 210 so I guess it's not that surprising try new vo is going from 180 to 190 with cooler being a better special and with how dominant it is over other short range weapons I guess it makes sense it does make it harder to pick in place of the mzap especially because zap isn't here zap is still 180p so I don't know if I like this too much but like it's fine it's not that big a deal now one weapon got buffed a few patches ago and they toned back the special in the following patch but clearly it wasn't enough so luckily I'm happy to say this patch addressed the biggest problem mini spawning is finally 190p the stamp Nerfs weren't enough to kill this weapon from mid tier so hopefully this will finally kick it back down to the low tiers yeah I have no idea why this is here I think one thing in the patch just randomly gets hit with an unnecessary Nerf after they did the ultra stamp one and I guess it just landed on many this time sorry many players finally ballpoint actually got 210 so yeah that's nice good to know this isn't another Splash incident the splash is still 200p I already talked about on Twitter that I thought the patch output was really slow and the Buffs with One Singular exception 3.1.0 have been really awful and that while the meta was good I don't think this was very intentionally crafted to be this way this patch makes me feel very validated in that opinion don't get me wrong some of the stuff like the pain brush Buffs or the super Chomp try zuka ones all of those are pretty cool but they're so minimal this buff they did to Luda was also perfect for pretty much every other Blaster out there it could have been done to at least a few more Forge could have also gone down to 200p we could have just gotten a little bit more and for how infrequent these patches are and how early into the game's life it is it feels like they're really afraid to make some of the weaker weapons better the patch goals say that they're trying to make some less popular weapons closer to popular weapons and performance but like I'm not seeing much here that makes me want to pick a less popular weapon with few exceptions I'm especially disappointed because you could argue yeah last patch just added a lot of new stuff so they didn't want to mess with the things too much but this is the mid-season patch we're not adding any new content this should be the time where balancing the game could be a lot more important and changes could be more drastic on the buff side yeah the meta is good right now but I don't think these changes are going to make it much better I also just have to point out man like zap and shot did not need that buff it's not too significant to where it's annoying but it's still continuing the trend of unnecessary shooter Buffs zapping 180p happened because of one of those unnecessary Buffs in the first place and it not even being toned back to 190p with how popular it is even when it gets a buff is just really dumb a lot of competitive players are worrying that shooter meta is going to be a thing here with Zab 89 potentially shot as well as squeezer all getting Buffs and I guess Forge too maybe for some maps now personally I don't think these shooter Buffs are going to create a shooter meta like it's definitely going to be easier to run maybe a bit more common especially because it got buffed the light Nautilus is in the game and so is slosher to some extent both of those are very good against it and ink armor isn't in the game to make One-Shot stuff not work so like those can still be okay I just think troubleshooter can get counter picked so I don't think it'll be that big a deal should they have happened um changes aside my biggest disappointment is more what they didn't do than anything they did there just wasn't a whole lot of impactful and cool Buffs to look forward to here for those who made it this far here's a chart showing pretty much every weapon that was changed and how serious I believe it is hopefully it can serve as a bit of a good summer I can put this at the end of other Patch videos if you guys want with that all being said though I think this patch is okay I just wish they did a bit more but I think it'll overall have a positive impact on the game let me know what you guys think and I'll see you all next time [Music]
