Is Mazatlan Safe? What Gringos Say

this song pays tribute to Mazatlan Mexico as a special place so beautiful that it's impossible to be sad there and even poor people feel rich but Mazatlan has gotten a bad reputation in the last few years this short film tells a different story the story of mazatlán as experienced by Americans and Canadians who live there or visit frequently this is a wonderful wonderful town and it certainly doesn't deserve the rap and it's it's received the likelihood of being involved in some kind of violent act is I think far far greater in a city say like Vancouver or in Minneapolis I find myself very safe here there are times that we've walked home from this Plaza which is maybe three and a half four blocks away at 1:00 2:00 in the morning nobody's ever bothered anybody that I know I feel so safe that often I like to just walk it's half an hour walk maybe home and that's at 4:00 in the morning and I feel totally safe you know actually unless you're part of a cartel or a member of the police force trying to fight the cartels you're perfectly safe there's violence between the narcotraffic aunties there's no question about that but if you're not in that industry then there they have no interest in hurting you it's a very family-oriented City and people take care of their own here you've watched this entire city we've been in the old city been in the new parts I like to stay away from the touristy areas that's why we're staying in this area and everybody's been great everybody's been really friendly there's crime but it's not any different than going to visit my mother in San Francisco Mazal on is a really safe place we got robbed in San Francisco but we didn't in Massillon now I walk around the streets at night by myself I never feel in danger we go to the ball games at night go in the Art Walk at night we go to restaurants at night I think they're great yeah very friendly friendly very friendly I think they're very trustworthy I mean the other day I was in Las Flores and I got some towels I turned around and I dropped my wallet I didn't realize that till I got it shook and when I got back everybody was looking for mrs. did you lose your wallet did Julisa woman you walk down the street and there's a fellow who's maybe cutting a hedge with a machete and he's probably making at very best 80 cents an hour but it stops it gives you a big waves you know how our bonus dear senior come on stop and I think that that to me is sort of a vibration that fills the air in in Mozilla you have to come down at to Missoula and check it out see for yourself don't believe all the skeptics and the rumors and you'll find you'll like it I'm sure you
