Is It Worth $100 To Skip the Lines at Universal?

hey everybody it's molly and quincy with all ears and we're here at universal orlando today with a brand new video so molly has express pass from her stay last night at the hard rock and i do not so we are headed to see if express pass is really worth it we've got a list of attractions at both parks i will be using the express pass quincy will be using standby and we're going to see if i get done faster how much i get done faster that didn't make sense we are going to see if express pass is really worth the intense cost we both have a list of attractions i'm going to be using express pass quincy is going to be using the standby line and we're going to see who gets done first and how much faster they get done we're doing this as a pure experiment we're going to go in exactly the same order as each other so it'll very much tell us exactly how much time was saved with express pass today yeah so i hope you're ready i hope you're excited we'll share universal tips and tricks along the way let's go you ready yeah let's do it [Music] so we have 18 attractions we're going to attempt to do between both of the universal studios parks it'll be hard to get them all done but hopefully we can especially with the express pass we are going to attempt to do it despicable me minion mayhem the et adventure fast and the furious supercharged harry potter and the escape from bring it hollywood rip ride rocket the hogwarts express from king's cross station men in black alien attack revenge of the mummy transformers the ride 3d at universal studios florida and then at islands of adventure we're going to attempt to do the amazing adventures of spider-man cat in the hat doctor doom sphere fall flight of the hippogriff harry potter and the forbidden journey hogwarts express back to from hogsmeade the incredible hulk coaster jurassic park river adventure and skull island reign of kong so those are what we consider to be some of the best attractions that are on express pass and also the ones that don't make us want to throw up you will probably notice that i didn't list either velocicus or hagrid's magical creatures motorbike adventure tm even though those are some of the most popular rides in universal orlando those do not currently accept express pass so those are definitely going to be the ones you want to road drop use that virtual line when available but we won't be doing them today because they're not on the express pass quincy and i are off to our first attraction if you're unfamiliar express pass is universal orlando's version of fastpass or a line skipping um perk that you can add on it does come with certain resort stays which is why i have one right now or you can purchase it at an additional cost per person now it varies on when you're coming and what day of the week so peak season will be more and it can run upwards of 200 per person per day to add this feature onto your ticket for the unlimited version so it's definitely a very very pricey add-on but it can be worth it for some people so that's what our experiment is going to determine today we are starting our experiment at universal studios florida park and uh we made a list of the exact same attractions we're gonna work in a circular pattern uh before we head over to islands of adventure yep we're starting here at despicable me minion mayhem which is up to a 30 minute wait so yeah already we might see some difference and uh here we go i'll see you later see you later bye have fun thank you i'll be in line have fun i'll be not in line so i've got my express card right here you just show it to the team member thank you [Music] like quincy said i got the express pass because i stayed at the hard rock hotel last night which is one of the universal orlando hotels three of the hotels on property actually gives you the express pass for free for every day of your stay including your check-in and checkout day which is a huge perk of staying at those resorts so in my opinion the best way to get express pads is to spend the money to stay at one of their more expensive hotels um royal pacific portofino bay or the hard rock and you'll get this express pass for free because it can actually end up saving you a ton of money based on the per person cost after approximately one minute i am inside the indoor portion of the queue if you haven't been on this attraction it's an adventure with the girls and gru and the minions from despicable me it's actually celebrating their adoption day so the girls have made a prize uh surprise for grew and grew has made a surprise for the girls this attraction used to be in 3d but it's now just a simulator and there are moving vehicles uh moving seats but if you prefer not to sit in a moving seat just let the team members know and they actually have some stationary seats which can help with people's motion sickness [Music] just finished minion mayhem it took me a minute to get inside and then about 13 minutes to get into the pre-show so i'm already done with my first attraction and it's off to number two which is uh a little taller next up hollywood rip ride rocket this is one of the most thrilling attractions as you can see from this gigantic 17-story drop that you go down this is kind of like and roller coaster and the fact that you get to listen to music as you go but you actually get to select the music you listen to this is definitely a big thrill ride you have to be at least 51 inches to ride this and you have to put everything in a locker unlike certain attractions where you can wear a fanny pack or a lanyard you can't do that on rip ride rocket you have to put everything in a locker for safety so let's go throw my camera and my phone and everything in there and see how long it takes 15 minutes down and i'm still taking the minion quiz in line almost there 34 minutes later the doors open [Music] all right so my weight was a full 34 minutes for despicable me minion mayhem which i'm going to say is probably going to put me a little bit behind molly this morning the one thing i will always remind you about at the lockers uh these are available for free at the attractions that require you to use them uh hagrid's magical creatures motorbike adventure tm the incredible hull coaster rip ride rocket men in black alien attack forbidden journey there's quite a few here you're gonna want to make sure you have your park ticket or your room key whatever you use make sure you stick that in a pocket though because otherwise you won't be able to open your locker when you get back [Music] while i survived rip red rocket my scrunchie almost didn't i had put my hair up and my scrunchie started flying out and i literally caught it as it was coming out of my hair so tie your hair tighter than i did i guess it's my pro tip rip ride rocket i looked at my phone right before i closed my locker and then i obviously looked at it when i got back um it was just under 15 minutes total to get on the attraction go through security and um ride it and then come back to the locker so i still waited i'd i would guess like 10 minutes up at the top of the load platform but i did skip um the what part of the cue there was next time headed to rip ride rocket i don't typically ride this ride because um it's a pretty intense roller coaster and this year i found molly she just got off how was it it was great because i listened to the rainbow connection by kermit which is a secret video oh do you want to tell me the code for it yeah you have to hold down the rip right rocket logo up at the top and hold it for 10 seconds and then a little keypad should pop up and you can type in 902 enter and that's rainbow connection great carry on to the mummy have fun headed to the next attraction and uh sorry hashtag hi hashtag oh looking fabulous looking good buddy oh he's so cute by hashtag um that's all the jimmy fallon we're gonna get today because race in new york starting jimmy fallon makes both quincy and i incredibly nauseous so we're skipping that one it also is a virtual line and normally doesn't have too long of a line so it's not really uh one to show off how fast the express pass works regardless that said it is a very very slow day today it is a friday which is normally a little busier but um it's september which has been a very very slow month for both disney and universal and i am headed to our next attraction this is one of my favorites in all of universal revenge of the mummy this is that indoor dark ride flash coaster based on the mummy movies as a posted 25-minute wait right now so uh let's get in there headed into the mummy this attraction is so much fun it is my favorite non-harry potter ride in universal studios it used to be my favorite non-harry potter ride in in any of the parks but now velocicuster takes that title but this attraction is definitely a must-do it has a 48-inch height requirement and it is the story of the set of the mummy films like the brandon frazier ones and um there's an actual curse on the set which brandon fraser doesn't believe in so that's why the queue looks like it's part film set part mummy movie because you're on the set of the mummy movie so you're going to see both sections as you go through the queue my express pass has been scanned and we are moving and grooving through this cube [Music] oh i am obsessed with that ride it's so much fun i love the mummy it's it's great that's one of my favorites this is this is nice [Music] all right anyway i love the mummy it's such a great attraction if you're able to definitely ride it cool easter egg to look for uh when you get into the first like temple room and all the big soldiers follow on either side there's a golden idol on the left hand side of king kong because the mummy sits where kong frontation which was an opening day right here at universal studios used to be so that's a cool nod to the predecessor there so mummy 10 out of 10 for me definitely a must-do and it was a walk-on which is great now we are outside of our next attraction transformers the ride 3d we're about to roll out with my pal and yours after this practice as i was saying i don't typically ride this ride because it's a pretty intense roller coaster if you do get headaches on roller coaster this one will likely give you one but i'll let you know i just got in line at 10 46. so we'll see how long that weight is for me it's posted 15 minutes right now all right i just got off your front rocket so my weight was actually 40 minutes but it's because there was a spill or somebody got sick on the ride and they had to run it through a cleaning cycle which took several rounds of the cars just going by empty and then cleaning the car that had the spill transformers has a posted 20 minute wait this is a 3d simulator attraction that puts you in the middle of the action with the autobots as you help them hide the all spark from the decepticons one thing i will say in the express queue you do bypass some of the cool parts of the uh cues so there's like the all spark the tesseract if you will that you're not going to see but that's all right because you get to skip the line [Music] you are asking a lot of me well all right [Music] i'll try it's good you have faith in me i actually really like that ride and i have truly no connection to the transformers at all um it's the same ride system as spider-man and it is a really cool ride system that moves you through both big giant practical sets and simulated 3d scenes so i like it more than just a plane simulator attraction and it's very cool technology um and i really like it so if it doesn't have too long a line i'd recommend checking it out even if you don't care about the transformers because it's fun in general it's a pretty slow day but i've still been stuck with some long weights i've only gotten through two rides revenge of the mummy is one of my favorite rides in all of universal orlando resort it is a dark ride dark coaster combo super thrilling and the mummy is actually one of my favorite movies of all time all right i'm getting in line for the mummy at 11 26 i think my phone just said where did i keep putting it on the sixes oh 11 36 so we'll see how long this weight is it's posted 25. i've been walking this whole time this week certainly doesn't feel like 25 minutes and i'm off money mommy and in the gift shop that wait was actually seven minutes so nowhere near opposed to 25 i doubt molly's express pass saved for that much time on that one but i'm off it was a walk-on it's time to go see the family friends we are headed to fast and furious supercharged which is an attraction that most people hate but i actually love kind of an ironic way i wouldn't recommend waiting a long time but we're not waiting a long time for anything thank you fast and furious supercharged is a party bus style attraction where you're gonna move through a simulator scene and you are gonna go to a party with the family but row things happen and you end up in a street race and it is ridiculous i like fast and furious i go so far to say i love fast and furious but i never said it's good it is so bad it's good i love looking around because it's absolutely so ridiculous and i also say to you it's a ride based on the fast and the furious what did you expect look at this sweet garage where dom and the family have worked it's just so ridiculous in this attraction and i would never recommend waiting a long time to ride this haven't stopped yet oh we're making it into this pre-show there we go works on your rides you guys enjoy the break room how are you too late i'm okay [Laughter] uh my name is jamie everyone say hey danny hey jamie hi the location man they always ruining our fun for real it gets worse they're leading owen shaw right to your door it was a walk on into the free show which is where rides typically stop the clock but it's also been a walk-on to get into the vehicle [Music] i just love it so much and i love it because it's ridiculous i feel like i need to say once again please do not wait a long time for fast and furious supercharged i understand that i like it but again it's in an ironic sort of way do not wait a long time for it and then come yell at me all right i'm walking over to transformers it's super fun i don't even like transformers that much but i do like this ride it's a blast so i'm excited to ride it let's see what that wait time looks like all right transformers posted weight is 25 let's see if it's more like uh rip red rocket or mummy as you can see first room of the queue totally empty i have been at 11 49 so i mean so i why are these cubes like amazed when no one's in them this little room it's full of people and then the next room which is the second classroom also has line through it so we'll see how long it takes [Music] all right transformers was just an eight minute wait so that one was super easy too i doubt i could save only save too much more time over me and that one you freedom is the light of all it's time to head into diagon alley and do harry potter and the escape from gringotts we're here eek i just love coming in here so much this is my favorite theme park land of all time i think we're gonna head to the attraction now this is the only attraction in this section of the wizarding world of harry potter we'll do more harry potter rides on the other side um but there's lots of great shops and merchandise and eats and entertainment and wand magic and it's just psy the best harry potter in the escape from gringotts has a 42 inch height requirement it doesn't have a long line right now this attraction takes place at a very key moment in harry potter and the deathly hallows when harry ron and hermione break into gringotts vault to steal the horcrux out of bellatrix lestrange's vault but this is for sure the coolest part of the attraction the queue through the goblins here at gringotts bank we're going to go deep into the bank because we're just going on a little tour here with uh bill weasley and uh of course things are gonna go horribly wrong but this is a part roller coaster heart dark ride 3d simulator combo the ride system is very incredible does make me a little motion sick but it's not too bad so this is how you know what point of the story we are hermione looks like bellatrix because she's taken poli juice potion and then ron looks like a death eater because hermione uh enchanted his face so that they could be in disguise and then harry and grip up the goblin [Music] i just love that attraction so much it makes me a little motion sick sometimes if i've like just eaten but it's really not that bad to compare to other rides here i think it's because you're physically moving through sets that it helps me as opposed to just being a screen i am sad to say goodbye to the wizarding world of harry potter so quick we'll be back in just a few minutes though to get on the train all right molly absolutely loves fast and furious supercharged it is another simulator attraction with a larger ride vehicle a party bus as a ride vehicle i will say if you don't love fast and furious this ride is maybe not a must do all right i am headed into the standby interest at 12 10 with a posted 10-minute wait so let's get ready to party with the family the whole queue for this friday 15 this is a really interesting day that we're doing because express pass is pretty obviously um useful on really really busy days but it's cool to see just how useful it is on these slower days when i'm not in a lot of ways either tomorrow um but come on in welcome to the warm room everybody all right it was just five minutes to the first free show um went through both of the re-shows it is now 12 19. so we'll see how long this sort of second phase of wine is to the party bus as you can see i did make it to the party despite a nasty run-in with sean the fbi so that was a success um my weight after the free shows was another six minutes so pretty sure it weighed all in right around 10 minutes total actually so great great experience and now we're on to gringotts the next attraction on our list was men in black alien attack but unfortunately it's delayed right now so we are going to bypass mid black alien attack and head to et adventure which is the next thing and hope that men in black opens back up before we need to jump on the train to the other park time for another one of my favorites the quintessential et adventure this is the last opening day attraction uh like physical ride in the park there are a couple opening day shows that remain but this is the last of the opening day rides that exists here at universal but this attraction is like half the last portion of the film et and then half steven spielberg's fever dream that you're gonna go on with him because it takes you to et's planet and let me tell you what i don't know if i would have wanted to phone home if this was my planet moving and grooving right up wow not even stopping this is like a 30-second situation we're almost to the front look at that just one all right all right e.t was a straight walk-on and i got to ride in the front row which is the best row because e.t is in the front of the bicycle in one of the baskets so i love that attraction it's a hanging attraction similar to peter pan's flight over at magic kingdom but it's with e.t but i gotta say his planet is a weird place my favorite one though is the like mushroom guy in the waterfall that goes welcome home men in black alien attack is open again it's got a posted 20 minute wait so we are gonna head on to that as our final attraction before we catch the train over to islands of adventure men and black alien attack is a lot like buzz lightyear space ranger spin uh where it's a shooting game but you're physically gonna go through sets because you are a new recruit at the men in black and then you're going for training but uh-oh disaster happens and now you have to help save the universe from aliens all right let's go save the universe again [Music] off of mid of like alien attack a pure walk-on didn't wait at all and i did pretty well i got 152 900 which is pretty good it said i was a galaxy defender and uh will smith describes me as whoa so feel good about that but now i've wrapped up all the attractions that are solely in this park and it's headed now to the train so we can go over to islands of adventure but first i think quincy and i need to have some lunch hello kind madam you look like someone that would like to go eat at the leaky cauldron i am someone who would like to go eat at the league of pauldron excellent the leaky cauldron is one of the wizarding world restaurants obviously here on the diagonally side it serves a little more traditional english fair than the three broomsticks over at uh hogsmeade so you're gonna have like fisherman's pie cottage pie bangers and bash but of course fish and chips i love fisherman's pie i love fish and chips but today i think i'm gonna get something different the way the leaky cauldron works is you will be assigned a station to order and pay at and then they'll give you a number and you'll sit down and they will bring you your food so this is also a great spot to get your butter beers to get a delicious dessert and relax plus it's really cool in here and i wish we could get a room in the leaky cauldron because it's like we can dream yeah i just want to go up there lunch time so i normally get the fish and chips but i decided to branch out and get the chicken sandwich so it's got apple butter on it cheese tomato bacon chicken and it comes with fries which i actually asked for a thing of the house made tartar sauce to dip them in and i'm going to pour a bunch of vinegar on them because no matter what i cannot be tamed with the malt vinegar we're also going to try the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream on it both of us normally get butter beer when we're in the wizarding world but we figured harry likes sticky toffee pudding so maybe we will too yeah we just want to be cool like carrie we're also both having a ton tongue tongue tying lemon squash which is a tongue twister which is like fancy lemonade and quincy's never had it before quincy what are you eating i'm eating the pie combo so you can either get a shepherd's pie or a fisherman's pie here but you can also get too many pies with a side salad and i like eating whole pies during my theme park days there you go i don't know which pie is which so i'm just gonna go for one hope for the best oh yeah that's the shepherd's bar it's really good it's potatoes beef and cheese and gravy it's so good very classic however even though i love shepard's pie and the first time i had this i really expected to like it better the fisherman's pie is so so good if you are not like reversed to seafood it is so tasty there's like flaky fish all in it look at that yum [Music] you don't like stick to the shepherd's pie but if you like seafood at least get the mini pie home are you ready for your new sandwich experience experience it's very good i mean it's it's pretty basic compared to some of the other stuff you can get here so i think this is definitely a good choice for your if you're eaters coming here that don't want to eat bangers and mashed potatoes at all or pie um big chunks of bacon lots of cheddar cheese i wish i could taste the apple butter a little bit more um but i'm gonna dip it in the tartar sauce to really bring it out so this is definitely a good classic something if you're uh not into the more adventurous british food but it's no fish and chips all right i'm excited to try this [Music] [Music] it's like a bread pudding almost like texturally which i mean melt in your mouth before breakfast with ice cream on top you can't go wrong and then you add this like this crispy layer also this is my favorite coffee not alcohol specialty drinks here besides butterbeer of course but like even over pumpkin juice and i love pumpkin even over the teas it's like really good hand squeezed lemonade it's got a whole half lemon in every one and it's nice and tart oh well we had a romantic and amazing lunch and now i'm off to the train and i'm off to do what you did a long time ago have fun with phil i will we are exiting diagon alley to resume our little experiment and i am done here at universal studios florida so that means i can hop on the train to head over to hogsmeade the train is the hogwarts express and it is a ride it is an attraction but it's also a transportation system between the two theme parks so you do have to have a park to park ticket in order to ride it it's different both directions um i'm gonna try and ride it both ways but i don't know if we'll make it because this park closes early for halloween horror nights but um it is one of my favorite things in the wizarding world of harry potter because i just love traveling by train just like harry did and it's a it's got a 30 minute wait which is not too long for this in general but considering how slow today is that is pretty long this is definitely one that usually gets a longer line because it has a slow loading and unloading and a low capacity but we are gonna get to bypass that which is great bypassing quite a good line here at the hogwarts express so this is one i'm definitely happy we've got an express pass thank you for your cooperation thank you [Music] about six minutes after getting in line i am ready to run through the barrier between platforms nine and ten the scarlet hogwarts express is here hey hedwig hedwig i'm so glad you're here and i'm so glad nothing bad ever happens to you in the stories because you're a really great character about 13 minutes after i got in line i'm getting loaded into my cabin on the train so still a little bit of a wait just because again how this unloads and unloads but definitely not as long as if i had expressed [Music] we've made it to hogsmeade and thus islands of adventure this is the second gate at universal orlando this is where you've got jurassic park hogsmeade zeus landing and we're about to tackle the biggest rides here all right even though i'm sure i'm in for a bit of a line here i am not feeling too bad because i absolutely love being in diagon alley all right harry potter and the escape from green gods has a posted 30 minute wait right now i am getting in line at 1 42 and we'll see if it really is that 30 minute wait all right this is definitely a bit of a wait it go it goes down the hallway so i think this one might be one of our longer of the day so far [Music] [Music] decided to go left out of the train station gonna work my way around partly because oh my goodness a pigeon i want to see if i can make it in about three hours all the way around to get back on the train it does look a little stormy and a lot of the attractions at this park are outdoors including um two of the ones in marvel as well as jurassic park anyway i'm trying to get to the outdoor attractions faster so we'll make one quick pit stop in seuss and then we're on to marvel zeus landing is actually a very cute land i did a full track video here where we showed a lot of the details and cool things to look at but there are several smaller attractions here that are really great if you've got little ones or dr seuss fans there's the high in the sky trolley train there's the carousel which is currently under refurbishment one fish two fish redfish blue fish which i actually enjoy a little bit more than a lot of the similar attractions over at disney because it's like a dumbo spinner ride but it's actually a little bit of a game and then finally there's a dark ride of the cat in hat it's basically a walk-on anyway but i'm going to use the express pass just because that's what we're doing thank you uh captain hat is a dark ride it has a 36 inch height requirement though because the attraction spins so don't say i didn't warn you um it's a fine ride it's cute but one thing disney does better than universal or classic storybook dark rites once again no wait literally just walking right on okay i think i was dramatic about how much it spins because it spun less than i remembered it does spin so just be aware of that but i didn't bother me but oh wow that ride is a trip also i'm not realizing it as an adult the moral of this story not great kids if a if a strange animal breaks into your house and tells you not to tell your parents tell your parents that is it for this land on our checklist today like i said it's a very very slow day today so definitely wouldn't need express pass to be excelling [Applause] all today it took about 20 well actually it took about exactly 20 minutes to get to bill's office let's see how long it takes us to get to boarding all right and i'm all the way up here just some minutes later so actually all the way to the ride vehicle it was almost perfectly a 30 minute wait all right we made it to marvel and the first thing we're gonna do is the incredible hulk coaster it has a 54 inch height requirement and it's definitely a fan favorite people love this one i definitely recommend rope dropping this if you are going to do virtual line for hagrids but um we're going to put my stuff in a locker this is one of the ones where you go through a metal detector and then we're going to check out the hole such a fun coaster oh my gosh i love the incredible hulk coaster there is a launch right here that comes out of nowhere seven inversions it gets up to 65 miles an hour it is such a fun coaster if you're a coaster person definitely gonna want to check that one out um i was on and off the ride and back to my locker within eight minutes i walked right on without stopping i was the next train so another another win all right and i'm off gringotts 30 minutes late just like it said so i'm sure that molly saved some time with the express pass on that one now i think it's on to men in black which is one of my favorite rides all right here i am outside men in black alien attack so i absolutely love this ride it's got a posted 20 minute wait let's see how long it takes the second attraction here in marvel island is dr doom sphere fall this is a drop style attraction it's not that similar to tower tear though i mean it isn't the same that it's a tall attraction but the scary part of this one is actually when it rockets you upwards you go really fast up and then it's very tall and then you kind of bounce down oh these guys are here i think that's the green goblin and dr doom i know that hi dr doom hi you're the green goblin is that right i i'm not great at names i don't remember everyone's name [Music] doctor doom should i go to your tower yes okay doctor doom fearful dr doom said we had to do it so i was gonna do it anyway but no i'll really do it bye besties all right so this is about what we're working with line wise outside the doors were closed and i walked up they just opened them so i'm not really sure what that means but we're going on in welcome to the universe at eu we hope you enjoy this classic adventure into the unknown [Music] once again i'm bypassing a lot of the q and pre-show there's not really a pre-show in this one it's just an interesting queue with a little bit of a video clip which i think i'm going to bypass completely this is one i would tell you it doesn't matter it's not like a really cool pre-show or anything i was held for about 30 seconds and now i'm getting ready to board my doom tower [Music] [Music] i was paused for like 30 seconds and then i waited for about a minute for the ride in front of me to unload uh so that was another walk-on it was a walk-on attraction anyway i think that initial shoot-up is really fun so if there's not a long line and you like the feeling of your stomach being in your mouth um ride it it's fine i just want to wait too long for it but bonus i got to see dr doom in the green goblin they were very kind okay my minimum black weight was exactly 20 minutes which is what was posted however there was a hold for something some sort of issue with the ride for about five minutes so it's actually a little shorter than posted even including that pre-show but uh yeah i did a score of well okay so i don't remember my score because will smith put a bright light in my eyes but if i did remember my score i think it would be about 285 000. all right i made it to et adventure posted 10 minute wait on this one this one surprisingly can get really busy the last attraction here in marvel island landing marvel island landing hello uh that we are gonna do is the amazing adventures of spider-man thank you and this is another one where they really need my help but i feel the most prepared for this one because we're interns at a newspaper so hello hello thank you thank you i feel good about this one um because i think of any of the tasks i've been asked to do you know saving the world from super villains can't be that much different than covering the first day of food and wine oh the photo lab you don't get this if you go in the regular line this is dope almost there we're just moving and grooving now this is the same ride system as transformers so it's 3d but it's physical cars moving through sets and screens and it's spider-man the comics not spider-man tom holland [Music] uh another walk-on and actually a very cool cue for the express pass i guess you probably already saw when molly did this like several hours ago the queue is hard to see with my camera but it's the redwood forest from the film all right e.t was a total walk-on another one where i'm sure it doesn't matter if you have expressed fast or not in this case um i it took me two minutes to walk to the bike there was nobody in front of me it was a lovely walk through a redwood forest and a lovely bike through the sky and then a questionable questionable visit to et's home planet next on my list skull island reign of kong this is another bus style attraction same as fast and furious supercharged it's got a posted 25 minute wait right now but not for us it has a 36 inch height requirement and this one does tend to have a longer line just because again uh the loaded unload and it's not as quick to do that as a bunch of other rides so it will get a longer line the plot behind this attraction actually takes place before the film king kong and i'm talking about the more recent king kong movies not the og um you are on the island skull island and you have different bus drivers so one of them is a native one of them is a film director one of them is the nephew of the guy who writes king kong and there are mysterious things happening on this island lots of mysterious creatures including one mysterious ape that you may encounter [Music] waited about seven minutes to get on skull island reign of kong i always really like that ride whenever i ride it um it is a screen based for the most part but you should ride it just for the one gigantic king kong animatronic at the end it's a very very impressive animatronic it's starting to spit a little bit it's like spinning rain but we've got a water ride to do anyway jurassic park river adventure is next but jurassic park river adventure has only a 10 minute wait right now now we're still going through express pass though like other attractions we're going to bypass some of the cool parts of the queue wait i'm not prepared hold on okay i'm ready now walk on again let's go to jurassic park now i am headed back over to the hogwarts express so i can make my way over to islands of adventure for reference lunch break included we are now at 3 30. i'm pretty sure molly is most of the way done with islands of adventure and i'm just not heading over there jurassic park river adventure is a boat ride through jurassic park you're going at a nice little tour just like they were at the beginning of the movie et cetera on a boat and just like in the movie things go wrong there is a very large drop and some very cool animatronics on this one so i love it even though i don't like water rides welcome to jurassic park [Music] i love jurassic park river adventure it's one of my favorite rides in universal orlando i think it's super fun i love the t-rex animatronic definitely a must-do for me as is velocity coaster but like i said that one doesn't take express pass a great ride great ride here we are in the wizarding world of harry potter on the hogsmeade side this is the og wizarding world of harry potter land this is where you've obviously got hogwarts and the attraction we're headed to next flight of the hippogriff honeydukes hagrid's magical creatures motorbike adventure tm so much good stuff in here but first up like i said we're going to the castle harry potter and the forbidden journey is the attraction inside hogwarts it's a 48 inch height requirement and it does have pretty restrictive seating so make sure you check out the test seats here uh quite a few of the attractions at this park have restricted seating because of the the ride vehicles and the ride type they are so if you feel like you're gonna be uncomfortable make sure you check that but we are headed into the express lane into the castle so this is part simulator part real sets on this very cool unique ride system that's kind of like an octopus arm that throws you about and the story is that you were supposed to go as a guest of hogwarts into a lecture with professor bins in the history of magic class which like shout out to professor bin's because that's a book joke he's not mentioned in the movies at all so love love a little easter egg there but harry ron hermione think it'd be more funny for you to go to the quidditch match so hermione uses flu powder and then magically enchants a bench to fly you out to the quidditch patch but of course things go wrong all right i am here at king's cross station aka the london side of the hogwarts express this attraction is unique and that it does transport you from one park to the other right now has a 30 minute wait so another one that i'm sure the express pass was a benefit this certainly looks like a significant line i'm not sure it'll be quite 30 minutes the line for the train does move in big chunks because obviously the train is just going back and forth so you have to wait for it to come and then it loads a lot of people i will say the coolest part of this attraction is the queue there are so many harry potter easter eggs in the queue you go through the herbology section outdoors you go through the gryffindor common room dumbledore's office defense against the dark arts classroom um and so when you go into the express pass you go in this side entrance and you miss some of it so if there's not a long line and you haven't been on the attraction before i recommend going in through the regular queue that one is nauseating but it is very cool if you're a harry potter fan you got to do it at least once mentors chamber of secrets basilisks quidditch dragons i mean it is so much harry potter stuff and it's very cool it's just something about the simulation plus the boo gets gets my tummy don't drink a full butter beer before doing it quincy and i learned that the hard way the last attraction on our list besides the train at islands of adventure is flight of the hippogriff which doesn't have a weight yet right now anyway but i'm still gonna use the passes we have all day thank you this one has a 36 height requirement it's a kids coaster um that features a hippogriff and it actually is a very cool buckbeak animatronic so even if you're not a kid i recommend riding if you're a harry potter fan to see the buckwheat animatronic yet another walk up freezed right up here didn't save me too much time but go ahead it did save me a little bit so there you go [Music] well we are done with our list here at islands of adventure um and i just talked to quincy and she's just getting on the train over at king's cross station which means i did this entire park with my express pass before she even got here so even on this slow day express pass is definitely definitely crushing this cue is also super cute around the holidays because they decorate a lot of these piles of suitcases to be christmas presents which is so cute [Music] the last attraction i had on my list is the train back to universal studios florida so we're headed back with time to spare so maybe i'll jump on another attraction over there before that park closes universal ces florida closes early tonight at five for halloween horror nights about a three minute wait and uh here comes the train so very excited [Music] the line for the train is very long now likely because a lot of people are leaving universal orlando because they don't have halloween horror nights tickets so they're trying to get over to islands of adventure which is open later and we made it to hogsmeade aka the universal islands of adventure side of the wizarding world of harry potter i believe molly did this pretty much entire park before i even made it to this park as for the train my weight was 30 minutes on the nose just like it was posted all right i am headed to seuss landing to ride the cat in the hat this is another one i'm not expecting that molly's express pass gained her too much time on i do actually love the high in the sky suits trolley train ride i wish that was in our experiment today the cat in the hat and things are out speaking of them all right just blow that iconic hat i see a five minute posted wait it sounds like a walk-on to me let's go see what antics the cat is getting up to now this is a fun cue i am of course just walking through it because there's no line but i absolutely love any queue where it looks like you're in a story book or a movie that's why i love the queue of frozen ever after so much that's why i love computer pants like you and yep sure enough it's a walk-on despite that ride being horrifying i did make it off the cat in the hat again your kids probably won't think it's scary but i think it's scary my next stop is the hulk time to get a hulkie all right hulk has a 10 minute posted wait so that's pretty short for this coaster it's super popular i can't take my camera so i'm going to drop you guys off in a locker you guys have fun in there and i'll report back in for how long that way actually is you know we made it off the hogwarts express we made it back into universal studios we've got about half an hour to spare so there's one attraction we didn't do today i think i should do it in quincy's honor hey how's it going hi donkey how you been here this week oh yeah yeah have we met this week your face looks familiar uh we've met before donkey not this week no when when was it a couple weeks ago okay what was your name again molly molly hi molly how's it been since you last saw me it's been pretty good have you been done not too bad you know sitting in the same spot just so you it was easy for you to find me yeah yeah have you gotten any waffles i had some this morning have you i had waffles the other day uh when i was here for halloween horror nights yeah right i'm awful i was back at the locker in 10 minutes it was a total walk-on so the weight was even exaggerated in 10 minutes which is awesome for hulk that's a super popular ride polk is a very intense roller coaster i think it's probably the most intense even more so than velocicoaster oh i don't know that's kind of close all right my next stop is dr dooms fearful i've actually not ridden this ever i think um i don't mind a drop zone though uh it's just not always my top priority i'd rather ride tower of terror if i'm gonna ride any drop zone but it's only a five minute wait let's see if that's true [Music] that was actually really fun i've never done doctor news to your fall before it's more of a scary shootout but i've been kind of a slow fall down i really enjoyed it um it was only a five minute wait by a five minute wait i mean it took about five minutes to walk straight onto it so another one that was accurate and another one that expressed fascinating we didn't do so much on it but clearly overall express pass still made a big difference for molly let's go check out spiderman shall we shrek 4d is a 4d show [Applause] thank you that takes place after shrek and the ghost of lord farquaad tries to murder fiona so he can marry her ghost which is how ghost law works it's a very cute show it always makes me laugh the pre-show makes me laugh a lot but this is actually a great one to use your express on especially right now they have normally two theaters running but right now for halloween horror nights they actually have closed one of them and turned it into one of the haunted houses waited about five minutes for the show in front of me to get out and now we're in the pre-show which is absolutely hysterical welcome back guys um you probably don't know this but it's okay i'm gonna teach you today your torture is called a vlogging and that isn't here meeting with the women's stick like this beautiful lady right here which is absolutely gorgeous and it hurts really really bad it's not something you want on vacation [Applause] what are they doing here in here [Applause] they're not going to help you they got themselves who dares disturb my slumber cordy done i really do think that's a cute 4d show the seats move and bounce and things and it's funny it's got some great would be adult jokes so i wouldn't wait a long time for it don't tell quincy i know she loves shrek but if you need some air conditioning you've got little ones that can't do some of these big rides or you just want to sit down for a little bit and have a laugh why not but now the park is officially closed for halloween horror nights they're doing crossover meaning they're getting everybody not staying out of the park which includes me but uh quincy's still got a list of things to do and there's a little bit more time over at islands of adventure so i figure i'll go do something i haven't done yet over there well that's a rare sight spiderman has a posted five minute wait wowza what's great is that molly and i can come back and do this experiment again around the holiday season on a weekend and see how it looks how much express pass helps them too [Music] spider-man was very fun as always that's another simulator ride just like transformers except it was the original you end up fighting like all spider-man's bad guys maybe not all but a lot of them and it's super fun uh it does contribute to motion sickness it's another one of those so just be aware of that if that's something that you deal with but right now i think we are going to head onward to school island rain and pond made it back into islands of adventure it really is only about a five or so minute walk depending on how fast you walk to get between the two different parks so if there is a long line for the train it's always a good idea to take a walk and since quincy's got a few more attractions left i'm gonna jump on something that neither of us got to do yet today according to the universal app velocicoaster only is a 35 minute wait so uh i think it's time for a raptor run i don't think you're ever gonna regret getting the express pass if you get it for free with staying at one of the resorts it's clearly a huge perk i've been able to get a lot more done throughout the day today i've been able to go through things faster than quincy has so i don't think you'll ever regret it if you get it with something and i think that depending on the uh the crowds and how much it is per person you might not regret it paying for it either i know molly has finished our designated list my goal at this point is also to complete our designated list motley finished it a while ago i think she's living my dream and seeing shrek 40. all right skull island reign of kong is one of the newer rides here at universal that is of course based on the school island king kong movie we are going to head in it's 15 minute wait i'm sure molly saved a little time on this one earlier all right here's where the line stopped pretty much right at the load platform it took about four minutes to walk the queue good day we're gonna be on pretty soon [Music] all right i am off school island rate of home i have to say i did like it it was a little bit like watching a movie in a very bumpy seat um more so than pretty much any other ride here all right well we're in jurassic park so barrel's better to go than jurassic river adventure i don't want to get wet but i do want to see more dinosaurs all right jurassic park river adventure is a boat ride and you will likely get wet i did not come prepared i did not have a rain jacket and you do have to take your hats off so let's see what happens though ten minute wait this ride is another one that is pretty much a walk-on i will probably be on the ride i walked up here it took a minute i'll be honest few minutes so let's go see some dinos [Music] i got lucky with the water only a little bit on like my face and shirt not my pants which is what matters and even my hair stay dry so that one was another almost walk-on it was about a three-minute wait when it was posted i'm much higher than that um i've only got two more rides to go so it actually does look like i'm gonna be able to complete our list we've forbidden journey and flight of the hippogriff and hog speed so i i'm excited to walk over there and get those knocked out velocicoaster is the newest attraction here at universal orlando it is a jurassic world themed coaster 51-inch height requirement again it doesn't have express pass it does have a single rider line which i actually do not recommend using it often takes as long as if not longer than the standby queue plus you missed the cool thing in the queue which is the raptors but this coaster is amazing [Music] will never get old [Music] all right i am at harry potter in the forbidden journey posted 15-minute wait my second to last ride molly did this many hours ago now but i get to walk through hogwarts so i can't complain too much whether this weight is short or long this queue is a delight to walk through there's a beautiful outdoor portion with the greenhouses and some lovely plant life and then there's of course the amazing indoor portion of the queue which is hogwarts itself you can see the mirror varies dead you see dumbledore's office and then it friends against the dark arts classroom and the moving paintings in the gryffindor common room and the fat lady's portrait and the sorting hat and where they keep track of the house points i am always happy to walk to it i almost wish it was just like a walk-through attraction but i do love forbidden journey too as long as it doesn't make me too motion-sick all right it was about an eight-minute walk to the front of the queue i'll walk on as well so lastly we just have to fly to the hippocrates five minute posted wait i can see a bigger fan animatronic let's do it so this is a very easy roller coaster this is a great roller coaster if you want to introduce your kids to roller coasters it is super short it is not that fast very very easy um now that said if a kid's super reversed to a coaster or a grown up then this might not even then it might be too much for them but the big reason i like to ride this ride the coaster doesn't really do much for you it's not that exciting as a grown up who rides other trail rides however there is an amazing animatronic of buck beak one of my favorite animatronics in all of universal orlando so you do get to see that on this ride because this is such a short ride it doesn't tend to have a super long wait so if you're walking by it has a five minute wait you have a little extra time to kill it might be a good one to ride all right with a four minute all-in walk and wait at spotted hippogriff i've officially completed our list as of 6 003 pm an hour prior to park closed i'm sure molly has been having a blast in the many hours that she has been done i'm gonna go find her i guess so i know that molly's on velocity right now she texts me to let me know and i was gonna go meet her at the exit and surprise her with butterbeer for each of us that i bought since we skipped it at lunch and i thought we should treat ourselves after such a big day but it's pouring rain well i rode velocicoaster but at what cost i just happened to have my rain jacket on because it was tied around my waist and then team members like hey you have to wear that you can't have a tighter on your waist for safety so i just have to have that on water boarded myself with the mask because by the time we got out on the track well i have to say this has been a plot twist ending but i do say that we learned a lot today about express pass we did so even on a slow day like today i got through an entire park before you see the express pass yeah i mean molly did two parts in the time it took me to do one and i was able to add on a couple other fun things trek 4d an extra ride on the hogwarts express going the other way and a sloppy ride on velocity now that said i did complete everything we wanted to do with an hour to spare in the park so and we didn't start write it open either no so on a slow slower day on a weekday not the busy season the express pass might not be something you want to do maybe you do if you want those benefits of molly being able to do so much if you're only in universal for a
