Is Guatemala City Safe?

[Music] thank you everyone Told Me Not to Come to Guatemala City so I did and I'm so glad I did I love it here and the zone that I'm staying at is like an absolute foodie Paradise online everyone's been saying how dangerous Guatemala City is and of course yes there are dangerous areas but Guatemala City is the biggest capital city in Central America so of course in such a big city there will be some dangerous areas go to London go to New York like in any big city like all the areas can be the same thing there will be more dangerous areas and at the same time there are very Posh areas all you need to know are the zones the whole city is divided into the zones and these are the zones that you should avoid and these are the safe zones do not worry if you didn't have enough time to make notes I have summarized all this in my blog and the link will be in the description while it is clear which zones you should avoid these are the zones you should know about Zone one is like the historical center of the city you definitely need to visit the main square and that probably is the best Zone where to go for a tour and learn more about Guatemala City history and the whole country's history safety wise I kind of marked it in between yellow because it is not a dangerous area there is a lot of police presence but because it is a historical Center and of course a lot of tourists go there and the pickpockets are there so there is a big chance like you need to be very careful with your bag in that zone so no like real crazy danger it's just more you need to be more aware of pickpockets in that area Zone 4 is like this upcoming hipster area you will find loads of modern buildings there some cool cafes and restaurants but in my opinion after traveling South America and Central America I feel like this Zone hasn't reached it but it's potential yet like in two three years it's gonna be like a very cool bubbly area to be at this area is fairly safe there is modern apartment buildings so I would definitely say it's safe to say that also it's very easy because you're so close to the Historical Center but because of that fact because you are so close to Historical Center I would still be tiny tiny cautious and now my favorite Zone Zone 10 I'm staying here I absolutely love it I have so many restaurants around me like it's absolutely foodie paradise and also it is very safe here regarding safety I'm not just commenting on my like experience and opinion this is actually what I've researched and Zone attend is one of the safest zones in Guatemala City so Zona 10 is also called Zona Viva which is like the Lively Zone and it's because obviously not only because of the amazing food places and bars also there are shopping centers that are like on the next level like there is so much for kids to do and also for adults like shopping centers here are like the fun place they also have Cinemas that have like these chairs that like are so comfortable and nice like I was so impressed about the cinema here so really this Zone Zone 10 is like the place to be Zone 10 is also very near to the airport so it is very cheap to get from the airport and back to the airport and it doesn't take you too much time and also what you get here in Guatemala City is way better which you're gonna get in Antigua and other touristical places and of course I understand if you will be coming to Guatemala for a week you will be going from one place to another but if you're staying Guatemala for a longer period of time the value out of money you're gonna get in with Guatemala City is incredible like when I compared apartments in Guatemala City and Antigua Antigo was like two times more expensive and look I'm having this incredible view from my apartment in Guatemala City so definitely the value for money you're getting Guatemala City is incredible just so you understand how much I love this place how much I love Zona 10 and Guatemala City is that I was planning to stay here for four weeks and I extended my trip for three more weeks one of the main reasons why I probably decided to stay longer is because of all the amazing food places in Zona 10 you have such a variety of restaurants and Cuisines like Indian food Peruvian food Italian food of course Sushi they even have this Greek restaurants that I didn't know I'm in the Greek food but I really am it was amazing and they have one of the best Mexican restaurants I have ever had a Milan it's they have had these chamber Margaritas like the place is incredible and also because Guatemala has such a good weather a lot of restaurants have outside Terraces and you can enjoy lovely brunches and all of these meals you've been seeing now have been less than ten dollars or around that dollars maximum so again this isn't a great example of what a good value out of your money you'll get here in Guatemala City especially in Zona 10. I have summarized all my top food places in my Guatemala City Food blog and the link will be in the description I think Guatemala City is so underrated it's such a perfect digital Nomad spot I'm really surprised why it's why it's not the new hotspot for digital Nomads because you have everything here you have the instructor in in the structure in place you have good Wi-Fi you can buy order get everything you need people speak English people are people are so amazing and lovely and yeah this is I think it's just an amazing spot for digital Nomads because also you have so many like food places and entertainment around you also need to add that zone 9 next to Zone 10 is very safe too but it's more like residential area not that much is happening there so Zone 10 is like the fun cool place where everything is happening so you can stay also in Zona nine it's also safe but it's going to be more like residential you probably will need to walk more to get to places you want to get to so I chose to summarize Guatemala City is safe if you stay within the safe recommended areas and if you avoid the dangerous zones also as in many countries uh there is danger that unfortunately our gangs and of course drug a problem a big drug problem on this side of the world but as I've said in other videos you know when I travel through Colombia and Brazil at the end of the day the big serious Venture will never affect you as a tourist as a visitor like you don't experience and see those things all those things happened far away from the touristical areas from the residential areas that are made safe like unless you purposely are looking for trouble the trouble is not gonna find you of course there are loads of other incredible places in Guatemala like like a title like Antigua so you need to prioritize your time here but what I want to with this video I want to encourage you not to miss out on Guatemala City if because of planes flights you have to stay in Guatemala City for a day or two don't be scared don't be boarded but embrace it enjoy it stay in zone at 10 go to some amazing restaurants and just really have the best day or two in Guatemala City if you are planning trip around Guatemala then I have videos on like a title and Antigua other places so make sure to check out my channel I hope you enjoyed this video and I'll see you in the next one foreign [Music]
