the switch is widely considered in the top tier of nintendo's consoles and with good reason the switch perfected the balance between dedicated home console and portable game system that nintendo was trying to hit on with the wii u while the best the wii u gave us was new super mario brothers i guess the switch has given us certified classics for the legend of zelda mario and super smash brothers while bringing a huge indie lineup as well while physical sales have soared the online capabilities of the switch have struggled to get off the ground ever since the wii nintendo has had some version of an online store available with all of their consoles on paper it's a win-win older games are injected with new life letting players relive past memories nintendo meanwhile turns a nice profit on its legacy titles the switch changed track however doing away with the virtual store and replacing it with nintendo switch online for a small monthly fee fans gained access to the entire catalogue of legacy content again a good concept on paper but only if the cost of the monthly subscription matches the value of the content library unfortunately the nintendo switch online library has been lacking so far with a pretty limited selection of nes and snes games fans have long wished for a big improvement to nintendo switch online and we might be due one in the near future as more modern game consoles could join the service so please subscribe if you're new to the channel as we've got plenty of nintendo content lined up for you today let's look at which console is most likely to join nintendo switch online next in addition to the nes and snares games in the nso library the most likely games we'd see are those from the nintendo 64 gamecube or the gameboy and the gameboy advance games from the wii and onward are unlikely to join as nintendo has made it clear they'd rather remaster those games as we've seen with mario galaxy in the 3d all-stars collection and the recent remaster of zelda skyward sword super mario 3d all-stars is a topic worth diving a little more into in order to bring the compilation to switch the nintendo european research and development division which was also known as nerd which is pretty appropriate accordingly made emulators for both super mario sunshine originally released on the gamecube and super mario 64 obviously released on the n64 it's been suggested that building emulators from scratch for the sole purpose of adding sunshine n64 into the all-stars bundle isn't a very cost-effective decision hinting at the possibility that nintendo plans on using these emulators on future projects if that's the case one or both of these systems could eventually make their way to nintendo switch online as far as we know nintendo hasn't made a game boy advance emulator but game boy games have long been playable on other consoles the wii u had a huge virtual library for game boy advance and even the snares had an adapter for playing game boy games called the super game boy so there's plenty of scope for some classic game boy games to one day make their way to nintendo switch online historically speaking nintendo tends to announce nso releases every september so we might have to wait a few months before we hear an official update however with that in mind it's worth noting that there are some rumors out there about new games coming to the online service next there are user thugster who has a decent track record of accurately predicting e3 announcements said a few months back that games from multiple hardware systems will make their way to nso in the coming months this is obviously nothing official but it's still good to hear somebody with their eyes and ears in that space mentioning it as well for the sake of argument let's assume that one of the three aforementioned systems are coming to nintendo switch online the odds of us getting all three are pretty slim but which one has the highest odds while there's no way to know for sure we can look at nintendo's upcoming releases to make an educated guess neither the n64 or the gamecube has any remake coming to the switch that we know of which only increases the odds of seeing those old classics join nintendo switch online the upcoming mario party superstars features all the best boards from the first three mario party games which were released on the n64 but i don't see this being a major hurdle nso was not made with multiplayer in mind at least online multiplayer and playing mario party on your own is arguably one of the most lonely ways to spend your time that leaves us with the game boy advance now we know that metroid dread is coming out in a few months and while core fans of the series are no doubt excited by that announcement and metroid remains one of nintendo's oldest and influential ips there's still a big portion of switch owners that have probably never played a metroid game the newer games just haven't sold that well and the best way to increase dred's odds of success is by giving fans access to the old games cue the original titles making their way to nintendo switch online as of right now and by that i mean the right now of me speaking these words not you hearing them you can play the original metroid and super metroid via nintendo switch online super metroid is still a fantastic game in its own right but the original metroid has not aged well arguably it didn't age well 15 years ago as nintendo released metroid zero mission for the game boy advance in 2004 which was a remake of the original zero mission added some much-needed quality of life improvements and some graphical updates and is undoubtedly the best way to play the original story of course the game boy advance also gave us metroid fusion and while i personally think it's one of the weaker installments in the series it's still a great game and it's still classic metroid more importantly though fusion is a direct prequel to dread so it will give you some key backstory before the new game drops the reality is though i don't really see game boy advanced games coming to nso anytime soon while metroid and breath of the wild 2 stole most of the e3 hype nintendo did announce a remake of the advance wars games which both came out on the game boy advance that might be all the evidence we need to know that nintendo isn't in any rush to put game boy advanced games on the online service there is a slight chance and perhaps this is more a personal hope than anything more that nintendo's surprise announced that a selection of n64 games are joining nintendo switch online during one of their nintendo directs later this year we're still in the midst of zelda's 35th anniversary celebration after all and how cool would it be to hear that ocarina of time and majora's mask are joining the switch online library nintendo were keen to remind us that the original zelda zelda 2 the adventure of link and a link to the past are all available with the online subscription and perhaps they'll add ocarina of time and majora's mask to the mix later this year that about does it for today thank you so much for watching and let us know down in the comments which games you want to see join the nintendo switch online library if you enjoyed this video please consider dropping a like and subscribing to the channel we here at blue shell strive to
