Is Draymond Green the Best Defender In NBA History? | NBA on TNT Tuesday

uh can i can i show a clip of something you have g14 classification yes and you do not use that lightly yes our guy draymond green before the game had a statement about himself i want you to listen and i want you to know if he violated g14 classification let's take a listen you know i can go all around the league and find good defenders i just don't think any of them are as good as me i mean that's the right attitude they have why would you have it any other way um so in europe i'm the best i think i'm the best defender to ever play this game in nba yeah my 100 that's my opinion but you know i i also think i view the game a lot differently than most people view the games i i think i just see it from a different perspective you know and um i just don't think you know i think when you look at the things that make a great defender reaction time toughness uh being able to see the picture long before it develops and most importantly in order to finish the defensive possession you got a rebound and i you know i think i rebound well and so uh you know when i look at all the all the facets that make up the defensive side of the ball i think i am i think i'm great in every facet that makes up that side of the ball so i think i'm the best defender to ever play in the nba and i stand by that i'll put myself up against anyone that caused a lot of reaction tony allen another great defender came out and said you can't just christen yourself that dream on green said yeah i can i when it was here it is he said big cap who stamped you who you clamp in the words of jay-z we don't believe you you need more people draymond green then responded to that are you laughing at me reading that these lyrics is giving me life check check out shaq's ig i was waiting on you to stamp me big homie but your stamp book started running low in 2015 when we used you against your team on the way to my first championship i turn to you oh like yo stamp book now because it's four on five out there right now my boy hashtag call clay so we have a nice little back and forth your reaction to draymond's statement though he believes he's the best defender well first i respect draymond green because they won the championship the right way they played hard you know you know they went through trials and tribulations the way they played played the right way and i like players that talk about themselves like that i'm not a defensive guy so i really can't be in this conversation but what he has to what three championships done it the right way was vital in the championships wasn't the main guy but he had some key stops he did his thing so if he feels that way he has g14 classification say that he does but i respect them the way they did it because they did it the right way a lot of people you know moving pieces and you know making a little bit easier for themselves but the way they did it the way they went you know 72 and 10 i could respect that because i respect hard work you know my my favorite player wasn't a guy you know sort of like me and c webb who were number one picks he was a guy that came in and he had to work his way up and the way he plays again so the way they play the game the way they want the championships i can respect that as a guy that doesn't want a championship so if he says he's the best defensive player i'm not going to argue with him to say he's not because he does have g14 classification but a guy like tony allen they could have that conversation yes they could you know like you know tony allen who was a hell of a a clamper yeah you know and and and in our era you think of defense play of the year i'm thinking the guy's like gp that wanted to guard the best guy that would lock you down and you know tell you what he was going to do so look i like guys to talk to talk reigning defensive player of the year candace parker your thoughts um you're a defense player take the surprise out your voice right over there she's always bullying me every show you know i will say this i think i like the the talk i'm with shaq i like i like this going back and forth about defense because we don't hear about defense much in our league now um i think what makes draymond so special and what he said was there's a lot of guys that can defend but putting all those parts together that's what's so impressive about draymond because if you think he's a he's a forward that starts their break and what's the easiest way he defends he gets the rebound and he he dribble busts and pushes it out and is able to get steph curry and clay so by him being defensive player of the year not only helps on the defensive end but it helps start their break in their system so i'm with draymond obviously i think size being able to defend multiple positions goes into it and not just being help side you know we're seeing a lot of that where help side comes over blocks a shot but really being able to stay in front of your man be a help side defender rebound like put all those pieces together i think draymond is a most complete i don't know the best he's the most complete defensive player of the year he said ever though it's no way to say ever that's just crazy and whoever whoever agrees whoever agrees with him or ever you don't know basketball and draymond should say what he says yeah two things can be right two things could be right if i'm draymond i totally agree draymond from the glove he got hard he's been doing it since college he had a triple-double without scoring he's the man defensively he'll shut everybody down but i just like reminding people some names yes bill russell um like i just should just feel like i had a big glove with some baby powder and just go smack everybody in the world and say you ain't say bill russell kobe okay kg kg seven foot checking one twos and threes no draymond is the man i just let's all have a great you know comments yeah yeah yeah uh yeah dennis roberts robin how how did dennis robin go play with jordan to shut down magic well didn't shut down nobody yeah you know play with magic play with magic at the lakers playing with your chest chris you know what i'm saying i'm just saying if i'm draymond i'm saying 100 and in the game today i don't have a quorum i just have a coin with anybody in the world says ever that's all that's that's all but he's the man he has clearance they won he has heart and i think the main thing he was right about in every facet of the game seeing the play before it happened rebounding and candace you know there's starting to break being able to throw it up the big shack or something like me i would have loved to play with him because we would have been you know we would have been known so i definitely think you know he's great but i just think you can't say evan all right so you never said i'm one of the best power forwards ever because i think you are thank you okay and that's a compliment come from you and i always say one up nah if it's me or my boy and again he's right hold on during our battles you never said i'm the best power forward ever in the league in my head i always believe okay god always believe you know what i'm saying but saying ever in a group of you know from the world is not my voice but then again i don't know if anybody has punked as many people as draymond in the league right even through this statement you know what i mean so again i agree with him but just remember bill russell you know i appreciate the fact that you put the baby powder on before you smacked everything yeah yeah yeah it
