Is Chef Mickey's WORTH IT? 2024 Full Review

today we are going to dinner at Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort we will show you the full lineup of food the characters you can meet how long it takes and what it cost so you have all the information you need to decide if this experience is right for your family's Disney vacation to enjoy Chef Mickey you have to get to Chef Mickey's fortunately that's easy because the mon can take you right to the Contemporary Resort or you can take a 10 to 15 minute walk from the Magic Kingdom buses from any of the other Parks or Disney Springs are of course also an option once you're inside the hotel head to the fourth floor we'll find the wide open area known as the Grand Canyon Concourse at one end you will find the dining area and Chef Micky right in the [Music] middle sha pkon will be located along the windows to the side and once you're inside high chairs and booster seats will of course be available for those little ones now when you arrive you can simply check in on the app or attendance will be waiting to assist you character dining is always popular so we definitely recommend getting a reservation and those reservations can be made 60 days in advance for all guests but for those staying at a Disney Resort that 60 days in advance Counts from your hotel check-in date and immediately allows reservations for the first 10 days of your stay if you can't make it to your reservation for whatever reason you can cancel or modify without a fee up to 2 hours in advance otherwise you will be charged a $10 fee per person for a noow Chef Mickey's character dining is available for both breakfast and dinner and while the food and price will be different the Char characters you meet will be the same keep in mind that for Disney an adult is defined as 10 and older and kids are aged 3 to 9 if they are under three they eat for free though they are still always included when making the reservation as you head toward your table you'll notice the decor which is of course themed to the one and only Mickey Mouse lots of fun lots of bright colors another important part of the atmosphere here is the monal that runs through the Concourse this may be a big part of the experience for kids if you watch any of our character meal videos you might notice our 2 and A2 F old son Ian is not the most enthusiastic about meeting characters the monoral however it's safe to say this is his favorite character dining restaurant thanks to Mr monal we had heard that the large Concourse made this a particularly noisy experience but we were pleasantly surprised actually find it no louder than many other character dining experiences we've been to they all tend to have a lot of noise and music but in this back room where we were seated this experience might have actually been quieter than some of those other Disney dying locations [Music] but now let's head to that Buffet so you can see what you'll be eating the buffet is in a cenal area and can start at either end off to the side is the dessert bar which has two sides but the same offerings on each side though the ice cream machine was only open on one side let's quickly show that full Buffet [Music] lineup St you got your soup bacon cheddar there's crackers look at that Mickey butter classic you got grini bread sticks there b roasted tomato and rosemary Picasa we got rotini pasta salad Capris salad fruit salad marble potato salad and five bean salad a lot of different salads and then of course you can make your own noi Caesar dressing Italian dressing blue cheese and Ranch then you're going to have things for shrimp cocktail [Music] shrimp here you have cheese quesadillas broccoli cheese ravioli with tomato sauce chicken nuggets honey glazed carrots this is down a kid level some of the kid stuff you can get ketchup and barbecue sauce of course then you have pasta station meatballs and marinara pasta Prima Vera and baked ziti which it notes does have meat in it garlic pesan bread sticks shrimp scampy this is cod with blouet Blanc sauce I don't know if I said that right Mongolian beef and broccoli then rice barbecue pork ribs we do have housemade mashed potato and turkey gravy then carved turkey breast and herb crusted New York strip BL more mashed potatoes this is a horse radish cream sauce in an aou then the other side of the cing station more Asian items vegetable fried rice vegetable stirfry noodles fried pork dumplings sweet chili glaze to go with those this is a soy Ginger sauce if you'd rather have that and then there's butter chicken and rice herbed butter biscuits and we have green bean cassero this is Southern mac and cheese which is it's a Foy cheese baked macaroni and cheese with a Twist it says we have to try that buttered corn and then there's another children's station this is going to have honey glazed carrots broccoli corn dog nugets potato Bolls cheese and pepperoni pizza then after that second kids station will be another salad station on the other side with the same stuff but there will be a different soup on the other side this is ministr at the desserts chocolate chip cookies you got these little Donald Duck themed cupcakes that's awesome strawberry lemon shy cakes cookies and cream cheesecake cups I'm a cheesecake fan got to try that ganache brownies mini red velvet cupcakes Peach CER do chocolate raspberry tots rice crispy treats and then on the other side you have the same items you know what you're on vacation so let's try those desserts first it is a buffet after all you can eat whatever you want and they came highly recommended by this bird that we met ping it over little slower py which one's the prettiest Cy that one looks like am which one do you want bud point to the one you want I want that you want this cookie yeah look at this little detail this little chocolate piece has Chef Mickey's on it this whole plate I think I'm most excited to try this peach cobbler love cobbler really good it has such a nice texture it's so like gooey gooey and it has like a nice cinnamon to it and the peach comes through this is my second one of these I wish it came in a bucket cuz this is so good it it's a cookies and cream cheesecake and I'm surprised they do get cheesecake flavor in there I thought maybe the cookies and cream would be too overpowering but you get a cheesecake flavor and the cookies and cream and this is this is It's dessert is that cheating to say this is the best bite here that I had I want like 10 more of these we will talk about the food in more detail but first the characters are making their way around so let's get ready to meet them all we decided to bring a cookbook for the character's design but if you didn't bring anything don't worry each table does receive this card with the character signatures already on it for this character meal you'll get to meet five characters making it a good value as some other dining locations are for four characters looking up something good Donald in the kitchen got theb for you to sign here we go it's anywhere you want you know best the characters do usually come quickly right in a row so be prepared with those cameras and items to sign we'll show you the times they came to our table to give you an idea number one as always thank you you guys want to take a picture of smile smile talking Micky and that's you're you're on your shirt huh you're wearing a shirt with Minnie thank younie you find cook there you are looks like you're making something delicious yes thank you thank you so much thank you there's only one more character we need to meet and who's that we had a little Sal would youut say say byebye [Music] all right we got all of our signatures plut did a cute little C sometimes a celebration announcement will be made and a character will join you in a spontaneous fit of dancing [Music] does any of that look good kiddo you can you can choose much as you want yep it's a buffet you can have as much as you want there let's do a little turn show what you [Music] got and go is that good yeah do you think other little kids would like that yeah you it did not come with the bite out of the [Music] bird pasta choices were a hit with the kids that pretty good and so were the carved Meats that's [Music] turkey that's a good good to meet the ball [Music] I all right all right that's what they have here fi they have ice cream do you want vanilla chocolate or both vanilla you want vanilla you got to pull and I'll pull this lever pull the lever I'm a b of ice cream I had the best time ever in thinking of I did by myself oh yeah yeah did you like this is your favorite character dining so far yeah yeah what did you like so much about [Music] it dancing was the best [Applause] one of the best things about a buffet is that there are such a an assortment of foods that you get to try things that you normally wouldn't try or order if you just had a menu and you can learn some things about yourself like how these barbecue pork ribs were my favorite thing here I never order ribs anywhere would not do it but this was the best bite I had and I went back and got second as far as the housemade things the mac and cheese honestly isn't anything too special it's a it's good but it's kind of a basic baked macaroni and cheese you basic if you like your Mac and Cheese real creamy then you will be a little disappointed in that it's more of a dry baked mac and cheese but it does have good flavor the mashed potatoes live up to the hype very good and flavorful they are completely creamy so if you like more lumpier skins than yours you might not like the texture as much but they're very smooth and very good tasting I will say that I like Americanized Asian food like I don't like things like real heavy and soy sauce and I would say that this is what this food is and then the butter chicken as well like I don't like a real strong seasoned butter chicken and this was pretty mild you still got that flavor of it and I really liked it's probably not strong enough for Deon who likes a more authentic Indian food flavor and on your way out be sure to stop by this photo op that for some reason is just in front of a giant dinner plate but well we got a photo that could have been straight from a classic family sitcom [Music] come on down the Chef Mickey the best food in town the best friends around Chef Mickey his best friend is got Min they Goofy and that Ras Donald to and the best neighbor Mr mon come on down to Che me we play by the escalator and right over there and after caring you can do that [Applause] [Music]
