national championship game to face South Carolina on the line as Connecticut turns it over on the very first possession see Connecticut extending pressure Nik mule will have the prime defensive Ryan that was the turning point in the season in many ways because that last injury was so devastating they did grieve it was about January 3rd and they went and had a meeting three of the top players with their coach the next day and said how are we going to overcome this and he said you have to decide right now how you want to handle this you can grieve you can be upset or you can turn the page and move forward of course we're sad they're gone of course we don't have them but if you focus on that we can't get to where we're going the players all told us that meeting was the moment they finding her teammates up for the shot so if we keep doing a good job of that and rebounding the ball more box out then we'll be good you're a freshman out here in your first final four you're leading your team in scoring at the half how are you so comfortable in this moment um just the confidence my teammates giv me and you know it's a big stage so I have to show out and give everything I got defensive transition they're not getting on the boards they're just running out and getting back so Iowa cannot get that offensive Rhythm that they're used to but as to the frustration of Caitlyn Clark during that warmup coming out of halftime she hit everything and she was smiling joking laughing she has told us I have to smile so it tricks my brain to relax she should look a bit more relaxed here in the second half yeah she has also talked about having the weight of the world on her shoulders but what's helped guide her through it is the joy she feels just playing B basketball in March
