all right good afternoon everyone hope everybody's staying healthy and safe whether we're back to the office or still working from home or wherever way maybe just want to welcome thank you for attending another one of our webinars webinar introduction to parcel fabric and ArcGIS pro my name is Bill Steele I handle the business development and marketing for cloud point and Matthew younger one of our GIS professionals here is going to walk us through some of the tools and workflows and pro for parcel fabric we're working hard to continually bring you more content webinars coming up in July July 7th we have one going over ng911 and GIS and how the ng911 system uses GIS what how we can help their sign ops is our sign inventory management system we have a webinar going over that on July 9th and then at the end of the month on the 21st we have webinar new series of webinars going over survey one two three of course you can find all of those and more at cloud point geo comm slash webinars just want to remind you guys of using zoom we will be doing we will be taking questions doing QA at the end of the session so at any point in time if you'd like to submit a question you can go ahead hit the little Q&A button down at the bottom of your toolbar there window should pop up you can submit those and we'll try to get to all those at the end if not will will we will definitely follow up with you guys and if there's any other problems if you have trouble seeing or hearing us go ahead and shoot me a message in the chat room I'll monitor that as well I know that a lot of you guys are familiar with us but for those that aren't we work in a lot of different sectors Public Works facilities obviously land records utilities even cemeteries and as a trusted to ESRI business partner we help people drive intelligent decision making using mapping technology and one of those solutions is the use of parcel fabric it's an efficient answer that can help with your management of land records and help save your organization time and money and here to tell us more about that is Matt Matt go ahead oops hold on man I got a unmute here that's my fault there we go all right try it again okay thanks better thank you for joining us today for the introduction to parcel fabric in ArcGIS pro today we will learn about how to get started with the transition to land records management in ArcGIS pro arcgis pro is as recent latest desktop GIS application and many GIS users have started the transition from arcmap to crow are you one of those users for myself it was a gradual climb to become a regular pro user but it is now my go-to GIS software ezra's lifecycle plan states that arcgis desktop 10.8 which includes arcmap is said to be retired by March of 2026 so you have a few years to make the transition that's for the parcel fabric there are two transition workflows I will discuss today upgrading in arcmap parcel fabric to pro and migrating non parcel fabric data to an ArcGIS probe parcel fabric whether you currently maintain your parcels in an arcmap parcel fabric or are looking to jump right into an RTS pro parcel fabric I hope to provide you with some insight on getting off on the right foot in ArcGIS Pro there are some key differences between in arcmap parcel fabric and an ArcGIS pro parcel fabric one difference is with the data model schema in arcmap all polygons all polygon features reside in the same feature class symbolized by a parcel personal type attribute related to point in line features and related to a table for plans in ArcGIS Perl shown on the right each parcel type in the parcel fabric has separate future classes for polygons and lines and are managed through records which replaces the plans table and is now a polygon future class I attended the Azzurri you see last year went to many parts of fabric presentations and talked with ESRI staff about the pro partial fabric and the common phrase I heard was a record driven workflow I hope to introduce you today to records in both transition workflows and prepare you for when you transition to land records management in ArcGIS pro ok the first transition workflow on the docket today is upgrading in arcmap Percel February we start by opening a project in RDS pro in this project I have a map tab that has my marked yet I'm sorry my arcmap parcel fabric please note that an arcmap parcel fabric can be viewed in arcgis pro but not edited also adding the source data here is optional but i thought i would take advantage of the ability and convenience to have multiple maps open in an RTI is pro project if we go over to the catalog page this is where we can create a parcel editing data set in a project to your database in my case I have a project to your database here and all I need to do is is obviously to right-click click new feature data set and then I can add in the name of the future data set and make sure I have the correct accordion system the next step is to run the upgrade arcmap parcel fabric tool you can find this tool and other geoprocessing tools in the analysis tab in the pro project and clicking on the tools icon after there opening the upgrade arcmap parcel fabric of the tool the user can input the arcmap parcel fabric in this case it's easily accessible for only because I've added it to the map tab in my pro project you also will then adding the target feature dataset that you created and then you give the parcel fabric a name it's as easy as that but in this case I'm not going to run this tool because depending on how many parcels you have to transition to a parcel fabric the Crescent could take a sizable amount of time in this case there are approximately 56,000 tax parcels plus other layers such as lots and subdivisions and townships and sections so this tool that I ran ahead of time ran for nearly an hour to complete this upgrade going back to the catalog pain I'm now ready to add the upgraded parcel fabric to a new mat so I go into the private geo database and the featured data set and I find my parcel fabric and I can then add that to the current map or in this case it would be to a new mat and I have done this ahead of time so I'll switch over to my upgraded CRO parcel fabric map tab so let's take a look at the contents pane and take a look at the home of the parcel fabric is structured so each parcel type is in a group layer that contains polygon and line feature classes so in the case of the text group layer you have text lines and text polygons and if I open the attribute table for these we can see in the in the text polygon feature class we can see the attributes as far as the parcel ID stated area some various different attributes that were transferred over from the Arkham a parcel fabric also with the tax liens feature class we can see the direction and distance for each blind feature that's involved within a parcel fabric I also want to show you the records future class attributes this is what used to be the plan directory in arcmap and contains subdivision names and other attributes like this how many parcels are assigned to each record you can also have a surveyor accompanying serving dates various other attributes there basically it's everything you would see in that plan properties back in arcmap also something new that you'll notice in arcgis pro is called a heads-up display this is in the upper left corner of the map this tool allows the user to manage or create partial records the button on the Left toggles record mode on or off and the gear icon is where you have a menu to create a record or manage records I'll click on manage records and I will do a search by record name but you can also search records by map extent all selected records records created in the last week or last month or another type of query so I'm going to type in a subdivision in and you can see my search result of Norwood Heights so I'm going to right click on this search result here I get a context menu where I can zoom to the record or painter the record I can set as the active record I can also select all features that are within their I here so I will zoom to narrow and we can see our subdivision name there I can also select all features from that record so in this case the select all features not only includes your text parcels but it would include any lots or easements or other parcel types that you have imported over for an arcmap ok the second transition workflow today it is migrating non parcel fabric data to an ArcGIS pro parcel fabric we then start with a project in ArcGIS pro and I have created a map tab with my source data in this case parcels subdivisions political townships and sections again having the source native here is optional but it's always nice to take advantage of the ability to have multiple maps in an ArcGIS Pro project go back to the catalog pane and we have our project gear database and we're going to create a parcel editing data set in our project here David so again very simple we just go to new and future dataset there we can give the data set a name and choose the correct coordinate system I've done this ahead of time giving it the name parcel editing and is to go go over to the geoprocessing pane and click the Create parcel fabric tool here's where we can choose our newly created target feature data set and give the parcel fabric and name again I've I've done that ahead of time and given it is a simple name of parcel family so the next step is to add parcel types to your parcel February this can be done by either right-clicking on your parcel fabric and a catalog painting and going to the manage menu or by using the add parcel type geoprocessing tool here's where you will input your parcel fabric and a parcel type name repeat this step for all of the parcel types you want to add to your new parcel fabric for this demonstration I previously added the tax person's political townships sections and subdivision parcel types back to the catalog pane and this is where we can we can add some other fields domains some types at the new rules or continued values to our feature class and this can be done by right-clicking on the future class going to the design menu and then choose what we would like to add whether its domains fields subtypes attribute rules for contingent values in this example I've previously added a subdivision name field to a text parcels feature class at this point all of these tests have either been done and the catalog pain on the geoprocessing pane and now we will add our new parcel fabric to a new map tab in the pro project and here is our our map tag for migrating non-fossil fabric data to a pro parcel Trevor back to the geoprocessing pain in our next step is to get our source parcel data into the new parcel fabric this is accomplished with the append tool so this is where you can add your source data and I will go over to the source and data map tab and I can drag and drop my source parcels into the input data sets field and they depend to old I'd also choose my target data set I'm sorry before I do that I need to switch back to my mind map and choose the target data set tax parcels and you will repeat this tool for all parcel types in this case we would need to use the fill map to reconcile schema differences I'm going to choose for the name field I'll need to add a new source and I will scroll down to the correct email that I want which is pin 2 and selected and now I've mapped the schema for that field and you'd be able to do that for any fields that you would need to do that for in my case here I have I had the sub name matched up it already matches up with the source data so why does that sudden Mayfield match and I must let you know that ahead of time I performed a spatial join between the source parcel data and the source subdivision data to get a record field for a stub mating field associated with the parcel data then joined layer was then used in this append tool operation if your source parcel data already has a field referencing the subdivision or record and please disregard that step so they go back but pain the next step would be to enable parcel topology this is done by right-clicking on your parcel fabric and going to manage and then you be able to choose enable parcel fabric again I've done this ahead of time so it's already done but this ends predefined you database topology rules and parcel rules which model and determine the behavior of the parcel data back to the geoprocessing thing and our next step is to create parcel records with the create parcel records tool here is where you would enter in your feature class that has as needing reference to the parcel records again that can be for my source data the source parcels and with subdivision name field feature class and then specifying the record field okay going back to our my grave map so the running writing that create parcel records process will take more time than we have today so I've added an individual record ahead of time so again we see the heads-up display in the upper left corner which allows us to manage records so in this case under manage records I'm going to search by on records in the map extent this brings up our results devonshire States fourth edition and our first step would be to set this I'm sorry our first step would be to zoom to record and our next step is to set as active record and that changes this display in the heads-up display tool so in addition to creating personal records I'm sorry in addition to the create parcel records tool you can create records individually here and the record mode heads-up display and then from there partial features can be added to that record a few other things I wanted to touch on one is that the parcel fabric in art tinnitus Pro requires a standard or advanced license also with an enterprise deployment which is of course used for the multi-user editing that requires an enterprise view enterprise database ArcGIS Enterprise 1071 and pro 2 for or enterprise 10 8 and pro 2 5 finally a single user deployment can use the file geodatabase and pro 2 4 or later ok it back to you bill great thanks Matt let's see if we've got questions in here got one someone's asking about computer specifications for installing our jest Pro worried about my computer handling it going from arcmap to arc pro ok so along the ArcGIS pro system requirements page website you can check your system to see if it's ready to run pro there's a tool that's called can you run it and it produces a report detailing how your system settings such as the CPU speed RAM storage display properties stack up against minimum recommended and optimized requirements but for example the recommended requirements for our TRS probe to five are quad-core CPU eight gigabytes of RAM four gigabytes of dedicated video ram windows 64-bit 8.1 or 10 Windows Server 64-bit 2012 or above 32 gigabytes of free disks this space and Diamondhead version four point eight so I have a Dell g3 laptop and it meets all of the recommended advisories so if you are looking to transition your parcel fabric from argument up to pro or looking to migrate to pro in general definitely check out this tool on the system required dates to check your settings oh good see another one came in here is the heads up display always on or does it have to be activated display is present when there is a pro parcel fabric in your map so if we go back to my source data tab in my pro project this does not have a probe parcel fabric in it so there is no ends up display but if we look at the other man tag which does have the pro person ever to display there there is the heads-up display present in marking that map so this if there's a pro parcel favorite field it will pop up and then your record mode can be toggled on and off perfect well that is all we have here so I'm gonna share back over and wrap this up for you guys so again thank you all so much for attending a webinar hopefully learned a little more about parcel fabric in ArcGIS pro for more information please visit our website cloud point geo comm slash parcel fabric you can also email me directly office numbers there as well you can even touch with myself format of course we're on social media so search for our cloud point Geographics there and like and subscribe and follow I usually follow up our webinars with the recording so anybody that attended I'll send you a link to the recording the webinar once we get that ran and then also a little survey if you don't mind send and fill in that out send that back to us that'd be great little feedback for us so again thank you all for attending today's webinar on parcel fabric and please do not hesitate to reach out to us we'll see you all soon bye bye
