hi guys this is Rosa Kelly today I'm here with this super fun interactive folio tutorial I hope you guys join along and let's make this together [Music] hi guys welcome back to my channel I'm super excited to share with you this folio tutorial because it was requested by you and I thank you for the idea also I did do a PDF tutorial so if you would like to get the step-by-step write down information and pictures to go along with this tutorial it will be available on my website and I'm gonna have the link on the description box down below now let's get started with super excited today because I am here with a new tutorial and I haven't done a folio I won't for the longest time and you guys requested an interactive folio so that's what we're going to be doing for that I'm gonna be using the wood line stories paper collection by little birdie look how pretty it is I love it so I decided to parrots off with the craft color cardstock and I am gonna be using some chipboard for my binding on my folio usually I don't put for the cheapo home with folios but because my cardstock it's not a 110 this is more like 80 pound I think I feel like it will be chill flimsy if I don't do a chipboard color so that's what we have in here so I'm gonna put this on the side and get started with the base so I cut two pieces of chipboard at 8 by 10 and then I cut a small piece of 10 by 1 for my spine and that's gonna be the base for the folios so I'm gonna use this go fight off to Brad my cheaper pieces and I'm gonna do that just like we do mini album covers I'm just gonna join two pieces together now if you don't have chipboard you can definitely just do one long piece of cardstock you can do the same thing on cars though because for the most part on my folios I don't use cheap or only it is like really flimsy cardstock like this one that I'm working with usually I'll just do it on a hundred and ten pound cardstock so I'm gonna join these two together and remove this tape here and just wrap everything around so I'm gonna speak through these parts [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] okay so now I wrap everything on the cardstock and I'm going to use this little piece this was cut at three inches by nine and three quarters so I'm just gonna cool the center to cover the spine I'm actually gonna put you on this okay and we're just gonna place that right there then I'm going to determine the bending line so I'm just gonna find that little cup and line it up here and then I'm just going to score and gonna do the same on the other okay now we're just going to fold one side and fold and I'm not doing at their panel here that I will normally do my folio as a closure because I wanted you a different type of closure here like little belly bands closure for this one so I wouldn't even cut two more pieces of the cardstock this work hard at 9 and 3/4 by 7 and 3/4 and we're just going to glue one on each side [Music] [Music] [Music] now we're gonna start building the inside of our folio I'm gonna put these aside for now and I cut a piece of cardstock at five and a half by nine and three quarters and that is actually the leftover little piece from where we cut the three inches so I'm going to score these at half an inch and it's happening again and we're going to fold along the score line and then I'm going to glue these on the left side of our folio so I'm just going to do this everything with glue you can use our sided tape if you like a swell and I'm going to own the adds stick a little on the first half an inch and I'm going to lay these flat and just start it to the left right there like so and then we're going to press this down let it dry and I'm going to open this up now what I wanted to do on this little flap to this side is a little waterful piece so for that I'm going to be cutting my cardstock four and a quarter which is basically half the sheets by five and a half and I'm cutting two sheets at the same time because I'm going to need eight pieces so against here it's gonna be at five in and now I have eight of face little pieces so these pieces are going to make sure five and a half by four and a quarter and I'm going to score at half an inch along the five and a half inch sight so maybe we'll just score at five Egypt the Same Same Same here so now I'm going to round the corner of the bottom piece of each one of these opposite to the score line and this is an optional step you don't have to do this per you can skip this so now we're going to fold along the score lines for each one of these pieces and we're going to start building our waterfall so for that I'm going to bring our base and we're gonna open it up and we are going to add our pieces on these left sides right here so I'm just going to start with my glue now these panel measures for in a in a half and your pieces measure for and of color so you're just gonna make sure to send third base I'm just gonna do one then we're gonna add the next one the next one and just so now I'm going to cut another piece at 8 by 4 and a quarter and I'm going to score at half an inch along the 8 inch sides and I'm also going to round the corners on this other side there and we're going to glue this piece on the opposite side of the waterfall and this is going to be the closure for this waterfall so we're going to place this right down here and it's just gonna hold everything together so I'm gonna glue this down and we're just going to line it up and press so now I'm going to use a piece of 9 and 3/4 by seven and a half and we're going to score this piece at half an inch and add 3/4 inches and we are going to fold along the score lines we're gonna add this space and the first section here make sure that you are not touching your gussets so I'm gonna add glue on the half an inch flap and then we're just gonna press this down here just like that just make sure that it's lined up I'm gonna open that up and I'm going to use two pieces of cardstock please once I cut at nine and a half by seven and a half and we're going to score half an inch along the nine and a half inches so I'm just gonna score at nine inches for this both pieces and we're gonna fold along the score line I'm going to glue the first one on the top just right on the center make sure you're not touching your score lines on the other two panels and I'm gonna open that up and do the opposites one on the bottom so I'm just gonna put this one here and just like that so now we have these two opening sections on the first left side as well so I'm gonna close this up and then we're gonna close this one and we're gonna close that one right there like I'm going to use this other piece this measures seven and a half by four and a quarter and this is going to be like a closing belt for the left section so I'm going to score this it's a half an inch and three quarter inches and then we're gonna fold along the score lines again or tape on this half an inch section you'll notice that you have a little bit of dimension here and that is so these page can match up with the other side they pass so well I'm gonna open this up now and here this is how this is going to stay closed so on this side you can add magnets if you like to keep these nice and close which is what I'm going to do I'm just going to fire a couple magnets in there work on the other side for that I'm going to use two pieces of ten inches by seven and three-quarters and I'm going to place these on my score board and we're going to score at nine and nine and a half or half and one right it would be the same thing we're gonna score and one whichever way you want to see it sometimes I think it's easier to do it on the right side but we're going to fold along the score lines for this two pieces so we're gonna be adding one on the top side I'm just going to glue on this half an inch section here and line it up on the top and just like this and we're gonna press down but then we're going to make the gossips perpendicular to the page we're gonna open dagwon up and so we're gonna do the same on the opposite side so now we're going to cut two pieces of AIDS by nine and a half and we're going to score half an inch and three-quarter inches along the eighth inch side and we're gonna do the same for both thus you know I'd like to build pages that are very symmetric so for the most part I do two of everything so I'm going to fold along the sky we're going to add these two pieces to each side of the panel here so I'm opening the first two that we did and I'm just going to add this on the inside so make sure that you are not touching your bending lines okay so you kind of have to send your days up and down I'm gonna go up a little bit more there you go just like that and now we're gonna press it down but we have that quarter inch gussets here so we're going to now stand this up and fold it just like that and then we're gonna open that and do the same on the other side as well and there you go so now we have these two and these two I notice that I have a quarter inch gusset in between the two layers and that's because I want to add an interactive feature on these now I'm going to cut my cardstock at seven by five and a half and I'm going to need eight pieces of we're going to score half an inch along the five and a half inches and then I went ahead and fold it along the score lines and we are going to build another one fold on top of the second layer that we added here so I have the first two open and then I have the second two closed and you know I'm going to build my waterfall here so I'm actually gonna build my waterfall on the right side so I'm going to make sure that my right side goes on top of the left and I do that because when you open these up it will be a lot easier to have this whole waterfall to to the empty space here compared to having that on top of these other area I don't know if I'm making myself clear but yeah let's do that let's make sure that your right is on top and we're gonna build the waterfall right there so I'm just gonna do the same thing that we did with the smaller waterfall I'm going to add my glue we're going to Center this on this page is probably a little bit hard to see where the center is but you just want to make sure to Center it also give it a little distance from the top so I have kind of like an even margin around the page here so I'm gonna open that up and continue building my waterfall and there you go so here we have our little waterfall and now I'm going to do another little feature for the inside I went ahead and at 12 pieces of six and three quarters by four and a quarter and I'm going to score these pieces at half an inch along six and three-quarter inches so this will make the perfect four by six picture holder and you have a little bit of the car stop showing in there so I'm going to score all of these pieces so then I'm going to put three together so basically I'm going to just glue here on this half an inch and add it to the top of the next one and then what's and then we're gonna do these two on top of that third one here okay so we're gonna put three we're gonna make four groups of three for this booklet [Music] [Music] so now we're gonna open the folio again we're gonna open all of these four layouts and we are going to add these little booklets that we created two on the left like this and then we're going to do two on the right like that okay so I'm going to start with this one here and we're just going to place it right there okay and same thing here towards the bottom like that okay so let's make sure these are nice and dry and then we're gonna open this up remember to the sides and we're going to do the same with the other to make sure that you have them on the same line up and I'm just gonna add my glue and place this one there I'm going to close one to make sure that it is lined up and then we're gonna do the next one here and this little folio even though it's only a one-inch as you can see it gave us all kinds of room for four pictures which this is what I love about folios how dynamic they are so now I'm going to open these up make sure this is clue all the way just like that see we have room for 24 more pictures in there and then we're gonna close these alternating each side so we're gonna do one and one and one and two and one and same thing here so much fun right and then when we open all of that up we still have the bottom or the back to put a large picture in there then we're gonna close these sides and this side here we cannot an area here if you want to add a closure which probably some of my scraps here and just do a little closure probably on the way up here so I'm just gonna cut I'm gonna fold this right there where I want it so properly to one inch to be able to glue this down and just added on the center of this page that's a little closer belt and then we can add magnets right there as well and this whole thing will help you a lot better if we hold it together like that and then these two will close down like these so again we can put magnets on these flaps and there you go that is the base of our folio I love how these feels with a one-inch in there so now we're gonna choose the belly bands for the closure for the closure on this folio I'm going to use a piece of cardstock that measures 10 and 3/4 by 7 inches and I'm going to score this piece at 1 and 1/4 on both sides then I'm going to cut another piece this one's gonna measure 7 by 9 and a quarter and this one we are just going to score 1/2 an inch on both sides and then we're going to fold along the score lines and we're gonna produce together by gluing this little half an inch section so we're basically going to create two large belly bands and that's gonna be the book doesn't really need a closed closure so you can definitely keep it just like this maybe you can add a couple more magnets on this side I will connect to this side and we have folio like this but because I want to add a lot of decoration and a lot of flowers I figured the belly band it's a really good idea that way once I take that out and I take all the decorations out I can still open my book flat instead of having all those bulky flowers on the front so that's what I wanted to do this is a belly band so I'm going to add glue on this little half an inch section here and we are going to join these two together like this just like that's okay I'm gonna hold it there for a second until it dries and then I'm going to do the same on the other side so I'm gonna add the glue and we're going to join these two together like that and then I'm gonna let that dry for a second and let's go ahead and add it into just like that so it's gonna be a little bit bigger for right now just a tiny bit because we are gonna put cardstock on the top of the folio as well so I wanted these to have plenty of room to slide in and out easily so now I'm going to decorate this folio you see this beautiful woodland paper collection I'm going to be doing these oh yeah so I went ahead and cover everything with a design paper and I'll show you the inside in a minute I haven't quite finished all of it yet but I wanted to decorate the cover with you and I want to here and cut around two of these birds now these birds come from the 4x6 journaling cards it's just so beautiful these are perfect actually to import into your other ones as well for journaling here and picture on the back so look how pretty so I went ahead and press it cuts this bird and the blue one as well and I did back piece on chipboard to give it a little bit of dimension and made him stand out a little bit also I have here some beautiful beautiful flowers that match the collection also from their Oh birthdays this look quite messy because I opened this already on my boxing video oh and then I wanted to show you three ephemera because folios are really flat on the inside so I used my ephemera to decorate on the inside pages and I'll show you that in a minute so I'm just going to use my beautiful flowers I don't know how we use in adults but I think this will be probably out and also have this prime chipboard that says sweet memories and I think I'm gonna put this on take cover here as well okay so I'm going to start gluing these pieces cuz I already know I want the birds to be kind of on the center on the front so I'm just gonna add okay and for cheaper I always use my leftover pieces like the leftovers from this project or any projects that I do I use a lot of chipboard and I literally have a box full of just leftover pieces and I'm thinking I'm using a lot of those to make like a small little mini as well so I always always have a lot of ideas just not a lot of time okay so I have two birdies in there and I'm going to play around with these flowers I loved the flowers complemented colors of the collections really good like this one looks just like that birdie so maybe I'll switch this up to do like like a compliment and like I said I want a little flowers on the cover and I don't mind it being bulky because this is going to be a removable type of cover because we have this barely bands here so I like I like that idea okay so I'm not stay slots cuz it makes everything look so more natural to make it all look beautiful things natural so cute okay so I need flowers come already clutch for you like that so maybe I want you know I hope it's not too many I tend to go overboard with my flowers quite sometimes okay maybe I'll skip on that and just continue with with my plan here and just these I might as well used all of it so so something like this I think it's what I'm going to do so I'm just gonna go do that and I think for the cover I'm going to for the title I mean I'm gonna put that sweet memories so I'm just gonna glue everything down and we're done so here is the final result portfolio I really love how this looks I love all the flowers that they mention it's just so so beautiful and it gave me for anything it just I just put sweet memories but it could be like a beautiful romantic algún it can be a mother-daughter type of book it's just so pretty alright so let me do the final walkthrough now I didn't quite finish covering everything with space but I think for the most part I'm done and it's just a matter of seeing how I want to get the pictures done and then use the rest of the paper to compliment the pages okay so as I show you this is a belly band it is removable it is like a closure for this book however this book even if you don't do the belly band it won't open because everything is perfectly measured in accounted for on the gussets inside so after you put your pictures it should close just fine but I give you a look this is how the back looks like and then I wanted to make this piece removable so the album can open flats or the folio as you said it could open just perfectly flat but this is how these piece and so this is plain but you can definitely put a beautiful picture here on the front as well and this is what I mean like it opens completely flat so it's really easy to navigate through the pages so on these side I used like I said all of those ephemera little pieces to decorate and just makes everything look so more so much more intricate and beautiful so let me start here I have these pieces from the cutter parts that come already punched out for you so easy to use so this opens up like that and then on this side I have a little feature here which is this little waterfall and you can include a lot of four by five pictures in there and so that closes with a magnet like I said I haven't finished putting paper everywhere I probably won't put paper on the waterfall I will just two pictures but on this side I will do a design and then this beautiful page in there and I haven't finished this yet and this one opens up and down and so I was thinking here I can do another pocket just like I did here but you just grab a piece of my scrap pieces and put it and just create it that's a little pockets because I do have quite a lot of these 4x6 cards left and you will be a perfect place to add all of those different journaling spots so yeah and then I do have a quarter gusset here so this could definitely expand a little bit so that is that side and like I said I have a finished with the paper yet but it will be done and then over here I made a pocket like I said using a scrap piece of paper just cool the sides and went ahead and decorate this little border wanting please to look like a little mini garden and use all those ephemera pieces anything also I wanted an area to be able to tag all of these journaling cards look how pretty they look like hand-painted like using watercolors look so now this opens up and I do have magnets here and up there and then this opens down like this and again I have to add the paper but I went ahead and added a magnet here on this little closure belt and a tattoo of these belly or e coli's this is scallop circle so there's one on each side so it looks really pretty looks really finished and then this would just be for pictures here and then we can open that to the side which again is not done yet and then we have this would just be four four by six picture so you don't need to add any type of paper in there and this opens up like that and this one opens up like these of one is this page and then on the back you have a beautiful area here for a picture as so well so that is the folio that we just created together I hope you guys enjoy this tutorial and I hope that you gave it a try and had fun making these along with me I'm gonna have to link two little birds on the description box or you can find this beautiful collection they have so many more amazing beautiful for collections also like I said I have a PDF tutorial on this little folio which will be available on my website and I'm gonna have the link down below and so yeah so I hope you guys enjoy this tutorial and I want to thank you for watching I'll see you next time [Music] [Music]
