hey everyone cody from mac telecom networks in our last video that i just released yesterday we did the actual cabling um for my network rack at home in this video we are actually going to rack and install the udm pro my us24 and then we're gonna do the cable management in between if you guys are new here please hit the subscribe button make sure to hit that thumbs up button if you'd like to hire me for network consulting visit www.mactelecomnetworks.com and you could visit us on instagram at mac telecom networks so let's get into this video let me know if you have any questions about how i do things or about the patch cables lots of people before asked me about these six inch patch cables all right guys so we are gonna start the racking and cable management um so from yesterday i put some blanker plates um in the ports that we aren't using up here i still need to get a couple down here about 12 more i may have them somewhere but i've misplaced them so up here we are going to put our us24 uh poe switch and then on the next rack unit under we are going to put our um udm pro and then we have a actual pdu so this is what we're going to be installing this is our pdu i'm not too sure where that's going to go yet because i want to try to get my synology nas in the rack as well if not i'll just have to have it in my office so let's go ahead and get this racked okay so like i said this is going to go on the top rack i'm just going to finger tighten these screws in for now and then we'll uh tighten them in after just with a drill just to hold it in place [Music] okay so we have two in i'm gonna grab my drill and i'm just gonna tighten it up okay so the ones in and now we'll put the second one all right so now we're gonna put two more so it's actually secure um this rack is different because it actually has screw holes and a lot of racks you need to use cage nuts i prefer this style i'm not a huge fan of cage nuts [Music] okay so that is nice and tight up there next we'll have to put our udm pro down here so i'm gonna slide it in and then i'm just gonna finger tighten one or two screws okay so i'm gonna grab my drill and tighten these ones up [Music] okay so now that's all in i'll put my pdu in after right now let's focus on doing the cable management um so we're just going to be going from up to down so i have these uh they're mono price these are actually cat 6a but they're six inch thin patch cables so we'll just plug them in to whichever port right now just whatever is closest and what's going to look the cleanest so okay so the top one is done so now the top ones are done we're just gonna finish with the bottoms uh two of these are actually up links back to my isp we're gonna have to figure out which ones they are and then probably move the cable over here so that we can loop it into there but for now i'm just going to patch them all into the switch [Music] all right so now for the connection between my switch and the udm pro we're going to use a dock cable which is sfp plus this is only a one gig switch so we will have to actually these will actually be on auto negotiation so it should negotiate between 1g and 10g but for some reason i've had issues with that so we'll hard code these ports to only run in 1g so i'm going to go ahead take the little piece off the top of the dac and then put it in the right way up hopefully and there we go and then i'll grab the bottom one so this cable's a little long but that's all right so there we go and that's in so that will give us our connectivity from the udm pro to our switch the next thing we have to do we need to locate to see which one of these is actually the isp connection and then plug it in here all right guys so this is my one up link cable going back to the actual network rack down here is my isp gear we're going to be putting that on the wall on the shelf right now i needed to get the internet up quickly as we just moved so i got my uh pf sense neck gate just in there just broadcasting i have one access point working but we need to locate this in the rack and how we could do that is with this tool here so this is a tone generator and then this is the probe so what this does it will send a tone down the line and since it's on once you you'll be able to hear a tone so you guys could hear that we're gonna plug this end in to the actual data jack and then we'll go back to the rack and we should out of one of the ports we should be able to hear a tone okay guys now we're back to the rack and it should be one of these last three cables um so i'm gonna go ahead and get my actual probe and i'll just unplug these so it's not that one it's not that one perfect so it is port on this one it's 21 and you could hear that so that's actually great because we're right by where our weigh-in connection goes in so i'll just take this cable out and i'll go like this and then we'll plug it in and down into our udm pro so this is going to give us our network connectivity once i plug it into my isp modem router um so next thing up we need to put the pdu in i'm going to go grab the power cords for it so i'll plug the power cords in first route them over here because it's actually a little difficult working behind here um and then we'll rack it in okay so here's our pdu so i'm just gonna actually grab this and set it here for now and then we'll route this power cable kind of back over here because it will be going into that outlet i do need to get a ups which i should be getting in the next day or two but for now uh i don't have it so we've pulled the power cords through we're going to connect it to the pdu before it's actually racked so on the unifi equipment the power is on the left hand side so this is upside down right now so we need to actually put it down at this end over here so i'll just start plugging them in so let's get this wrapped we're just going to flip it around put it in and then we'll just finger tighten some screws in and then use the drill to actually tighten it up okay so we got two screws in so i'm just going to tighten this up and i'll put it i'll fill in the other screws later on but now we need to get all of this actually powered up so i'm going to plug this in and then we should uh and then i'll plug in the udm and then our switch okay so this is our star tech pdu is now powered up let's go ahead and plug in our udm we'll just go around the back and then plug this in and you can see the little icon udm pro is starting up we're actually going to factory reset everything and rebuild my network in the next video so let's go ahead and get the 24 port switch up and now you can hear the switch coming up for now this is it our everything is completely cabled we have some cameras on here we have some access points we have uh just some data normal data drops so in the next video we're going to get all of this configured including wi-fi firewall rules elance if you guys like this video please hit the thumbs up button if you're new here please subscribe and i'll see you guys in the next one thanks a lot
