Installing Flagstone Walkway. I suggest to watch at speed 1.25 or 1.5.

[Music] [Music] [Applause] hey everyone tall steven paul here we're going to be working on a walkway today so it's a detour from working on a section of the lawn so i'll show you what's going on so i was working on this area to make a video but then i realized this walkway needs to be replaced roots from these trees are pushing that up and that's gone up and you can see it's cracking over here too so i'm going to replace this whole walkway [Music] i need to finish that so i can finish that because i'm going to redirect the walkway a little bit too so that is the plan for today um i've been looking forward to this because bought a brand new sledgehammer sledgehammer for do some sledging and we are going to bust that up so i'm looking forward to doing some demolition and that starts now [Music] do [Music] wow so the concrete's a lot thicker than i thought it would be my trash can is already too heavy so i'm gonna have to stack the broken pieces somewhere off the side of the piano patio and then uh that way i can keep working on the walkway and i'll just empty out the trash can each week fun fun [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] okay so i have all the brick up and out of the way um so i'm going to show you what i found underneath let's take a look here so at first i thought that route was pushing up the brick which i thought was kind of a small route to push up that much brick when i dug a little deeper check out this route this is one route from here all the way over that's one big route so that one i'm going to chop up using my chainsaw and get that down a little bit so that is the current plan but first i need to expose the route and see if i can cut that thing out of there that's the current plan for right now let's check it out hey everybody so i'm going to start working on the route trying to rip that thing up even bigger than i thought when i dug on it some more so it's man vs root we'll see how it goes [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] [Music] you [Music] [Music] so yesterday i tore up all the cement and i thought i'm going to tear up that root that's pushing the cement up thought it'd be a little easier than it actually turned out to be so here's what i ended up with look at that thing that is just [Applause] thick so over there that was sitting up about that much higher so i just cut and chopped away at that with my axe to lower that quite a bit but i still need to do this one here is pushing up kind of high so i need to lower that one a little bit and then here's where i started i thought i could just chop the root out but then as i dug i found this thing was huge not not possible [Music] [Music] so man versus root gonna call it a draw there's no way that root's coming out but i got it lowered enough where it shouldn't affect my walkway so better than a loss got a draw all right let's move on all right so we're back to it um i didn't film everything that i've done recently but here's where i'm at right now so over in there we had the huge roots i chopped them down as low as i can go i filled in all the dirt to make it fairly level you can see i bought the stepping stones that i'm going to use and i got to rip out this edging it's rotting wood underneath i'm going to rip rip that out and replace it all the way around there and that walkways for another time so i'm gonna rip these out today [Music] [Applause] you know when it's windy like this blowing like crazy i always think of my one daughter miranda she loved winnie the pooh when she was little i think she still does she had a book winnie the pooh and the blustery day and whenever it's windy like this i always think of winnie the pooh and the blustery day and miranda [Music] okay welcome to my garage i was going to put the edging into the walkway but then i realized uh they are wood and reading reviews one guy said he had regretted not sealing them first because they started rotting so about sealer i'm going to seal all of them and hopefully they'll last a little longer [Music] enjoy [Music] hey everyone so from this angle i look so [Music] so [Music] [Music] okay so this is the final step uh it's exciting because it's the final step and we'll see how it goes the thing is i'm not good at puzzles and putting flagstone together so i thought yesterday would be the final day but today is took a long time to get the sand level and the bricks level or the pavers so today we pour the gravel here we go [Music] [Applause] [Music] more i don't know but let's take a peek at the final product and see how it turned out and i'll do a before and after here we go [Music] [Music] [Music] okay so we are done i have finished the walkway to the spa and again took a lot lot lot longer than i thought it would but i got it done i think it looks pretty good and hopefully it'll hold up for a long time so thanks for watching i know this
