Install AWX on ubuntu 20

[Music] hello and in today's demo we're going to be installing and setting up awx on ubuntu 20. so in this demo we're going to install awx on ubuntu 20. it's going to be the awx version 17 which is a little older than the latest and greatest but it will give you a good start with ansel tower what an ansible tower like setup that you can use to test out playbooks running from the gui and it has the same functionality as tower we're going to run a series of commands that install some prerequisites we're going to update the inventory file with the basic configuration um we're going to use ansible to install awx we're going to log in as the admin user and you'll see the gui and all commands will be posted in the summary below so don't forget to subscribe and like so let's kick off and run the first command so first of all we're doing an update and an upgrade this is just to make sure we've got the latest versions updated and installed all the software and once we've done this we're going to install docker so there won't be much of me talking really it's just really literally running a series of commands and that's it and you should be up and running in about five or six minutes so i'm using a t2 medium in aws because i think awx actually minimum requirement is four gig memory yes we've let's just enable docker and then check the state it's a looks docker yeah i do need to actually install duck compose first one second there it is i believe that's in one more update now we're going to install ansible so okay next up is nodejs and npm right now let's grab version 17 pull that down okay we're going to use that in the inventory file so it's just a couple of updates we need to make one is just to the password that we're going to unhash and add a password and then we're also going to add our secret key which is what we've just entered okay save that and now it's the actual installation by ansible so this is a very minimal setup it's great lab environment all right let's switch this through a part of this do take a while so i'm going to speed up a little bit of it so you may notice you might have to pause the video if you're doing this real time yourselves and it's done now we'll just do a quick netstat oh don't have it let me quickly install it there's a quick net stat just check the ports open yes that port 80 we can see it's running docker proxy so now let's open the browser let me just pull up the browser and get the ip address there it is log in with the username and password we just gave it and we're in and this is it this is pretty much ansible tower but running awx instead so it's the upstream so you have a look around um i will be going through to see more videos just trying to set up just setting up projects and templates inventories so we can actually run some jobs um but yeah this is it so thanks for watching try out yourself subscribe for more of these sorts of videos give us a comment if you want to do a different video on something else that you're interested in and i'll see you in the next video thanks a lot bye you
