i'm rebecca robeson and guess what have i got something great for you today we are here in wisconsin and we're going to tour the home of one of the design sessions members her name is sarah and she made every single decision in this house based on the things that she learned as a member of the design sessions i can't wait to show you let's go meet sarah [Music] hi sarah rebecca welcome oh my gosh thank you i'm so glad you're here me too what an honor thank you wow i saw this in the video i have goosebumps [Music] this view is outstanding it is i mean you have lakes on both sides i honestly i have goosebumps [Music] you're my you're like i'm your biggest fan i am your biggest fan thank you well what an amazing job you did on this home well it wouldn't be it wouldn't look like this it wouldn't be anything like this if it wasn't for you and the design sessions [Music] i know my first project isn't it amazing i mean i wish i could say my first project look like this i think probably one of my last projects looked like this well you've done an amazing job why don't we go through and you can show me the things that you did this is absolutely beautiful this is more it's rustic meets glam and this is proof of that we have the rustic timbers that frame the entire space but this table is um reclaimed wood right and so it's kind of rustic too it has a knot it has some distressing well this is just i mean such a spectacular piece and i love how it fits in the trusses so beautifully and just sort of set your eye right on out to that incredible view [Music] on your regular chairs you chose the style that has no arms and then on this one it has a slight arm for your captain's chairs i think that's really a nice touch and what is the fabric this is perennials fabric and i learned that from you as well because i never would have chosen such a light upholstery for these chairs especially with grandchildren but the perennials fabric as you know is stain resistant yeah you can clean up even a red wine spill just like that gotta love that the modern glam rustic yes i wanted a low profile so that when you walk in you're you're not seeing the back of the cup right you know and this doubles for extra seating so if there's people dining at table and i'm just having my glass of wine i can still enjoy the company in the dining room right and in the question is this perennials it is it is fabric as well i was going to say if you're drinking your wine here and you're going to spill it you should probably go that way but if this is perennials too wow this is awesome fabric as well as the ottoman that matches it too i couldn't even be prouder well thank you i guess i'm a good student because you taught me when you walk into a room what do you see what do what is your eye drawn to and it wasn't it was you know everything leads you to the view of the lake right and then we're framed and surrounded by these beautiful rustic timbers yes now uh we should say the interesting thing is your husband uh it owns golden eagle log golden eagle log and timber homes and that's who built the house so you had a huge advantage there that's it really depends on who you marry you know he was the one according to your email that encouraged you to do this yourself you guys said that you were thinking about hiring me not that i wouldn't have loved to do that but that instead he said well come on what did he say well he said sarah you can do this you've been watching rebecca for years and he says you've got this we were designing this home and i just didn't trust myself with the the choices and this and i need i needed someone to say yeah that's the right thing to do and you know after watching all your beautiful projects and just getting inspired by all of the wonderful things that you've done i actually um really upped my style factor too you know yeah your husband was saying that most of your log and timber homes are more traditional all dark colors and they're more like a log cabin more woodsy so to go this direction was new for you guys and how's that work it was kind of a risk because we had never done anything like this before this is completely out of our box or out of our wheelhouse if you want to call it like that but it's been very very well received is very popular and again we chose the color scheme according to what we felt was on trend and what people were looking for in you know in their their new homes and speaking of view yes we can do this oh i like this aspect oh it's so beautiful now this is a smart furniture placement we could have a glass of wine right now right now and you know what else we could do we could do this cheers cheers you know what else is good with wine what cheese when in wisconsin cheese wine and cheese and fruit and fruit what's not to love [Music] you know this wine does go good with cheese super good mm-hmm did somebody say wine hey i've got rebecca's favorite wine right here oh my gosh this is my husband jay thank you it looks like you have a little white line left i do i probably shouldn't mix them no just um yeah oh look at her look there that's one [Music] i'm way impressed with your company and what you guys did here and super impressed with your wife good lord are you proud of her i'm very proud of her she did a great job of listening to you on your channel in those design sessions and this place turned out great thank you well i understand it was your idea to kind of back her she wanted to hire me right but you said i think you can do it and that's awesome i mean that's you did you gave your wife a gift you really did and the fact that your company can do all this that's pretty special right how is this different than what you guys normally do well um the white cabinets are not our norm most of the time they're wood grain and most time they're knotty naughty cabinets [Music] we've done over 500 homes and probably before we built this house i would say maybe 50 were white and now it seems like every third house is going out with white cabinets and timbers like in this model and does it have to do with the video you guys made the video has been doing really good yeah um it's got four million views on it yeah jay i i know you're not a youtuber i am and i can tell you i have very few videos that have four million views on it i wish i had land because i would love for you to build me a log and timber home well let's do that someday okay well i think i'm gonna have to buy me some land in wisconsin there you go we could be neighbors i love it oh cheers to that one of the things i really wanted in this kitchen and i designed it around the the two islands do you remember that house that you did in your design sessions that had the two islands carlsbad yep okay that was the inspiration for this kitchen oh i gotta tell you so much of what you've done and what you do i took to heart and i imitated for lack of a better word okay i like that greatest form of flattery it is i mixed the countertops here with the light on the on the perimeter and i wanted to anchor the kitchen with this giant island in the middle with this dark color and this slab is like gorgeous and the other thing i did which was on purpose is we mixed the edge styles of the granite if you notice on the edge here we have uh kind of an eased edge eased edge on the corner here very modern very sleek and very in keeping with the modern theme we have going here this edge is the og edge and we added a double og that is much more traditional and because we added these almost furniture like furniture like legs on the side and it was intentional to be like a piece of furniture because you did that and you talked about that in one of your design sessions that this kind of stands alone and it is a focal point and an anchor for the kitchen and it breaks up so much stone which can be you know stone's a good thing but in anything you can have too much of a good this is your original design sessions live logo so here it says shows all of the um stone edge styles detail options well i'm glad that was helpful i mean you took everything that we provided for you as an asset and you printed it up and made a binder i'm so proud you're like the poster child for the design sessions good lord yeah your lighting selections are outstanding here speaking of lighting most people do not consider lighting up their cabinetry lighting up the nooks lighting up the the top edges like we've done we've got under cabinet lighting we've lighted our niches and the inside of the cabinets and even up above to the timbers what can i say that when i walked in and i you know of course saw that view in the living room and the dining room but then i looked to my right at this kitchen the kitchen is massive it's more than 50 of this overall space so when you do a kitchen like that a lot of people will put so much emphasis on this backsplash here you did but you did it with style and with very good taste and one of the things that i noticed is that this is so subtle but so elegant and beautiful but you paired it with subway tile and that's one of the things that i try to get across you know if you're going to spend money this kind of stuff is not cheap no but some people people who have money make the mistake of doing the entire thing in that and it's too much of a good thing what you did was you made a focal point out of it then you added the subway tile which brings your cost down keeps it within budget but still makes it absolutely amazing and it doesn't like jump out at you right and i also think you bought yourself a lot of years of joy and happiness with that because you're not going to get tired of it any time no no i i questioned whether i should do this at all but it is it's for me and every time i stand to cook at the cooktop i'm going to appreciate that i splurged on the uh these are not your traditional chrome faucets they're actually like a french chrome they have a little bit more warmth in contrast with the sterling and the stainless steel that you see in the appliances and on the on the pulse [Music] cheers i think we're both very proud of ourselves and hello look at this house should we not be [Music] oh my goodness this is so beautiful so tell me the story behind it this is a huge huge wall you know and we didn't want to put any more windows on this wall but there was a challenge to fill the space and make it make sense so i said to jay i said you know rebecca loves built-ins what if we designed a built-in to go around the master bed and just built in our nightstands into it and again i think the light painted beams and the timbers in here uh just add to that spa-like feeling almost almost cottage-like sarah you did such a great job accessorizing this built-in too i mean it's one thing to design a build and have a plan for that but then what do you put in all those cubbies without it being overwhelming and just a lot of stuff what did you do well i took a page out of your playbook and used my books as decor pieces as well i chose colors of the the books i took the covers off and i chose calming um colors that the animals yeah the amethyst and the blue and silver and gold and mix those items i had together add my little bit of glam in there yeah and the master suite as well these these drawer handles are beautiful and you use that a lot in in your designs as well i do i love acrylic handles and it reminds me that's very spa-like i think connecting and the silver finish here connecting and then look at your headboard matches the bench yeah same fabrication but again we're mixing we're mixing metal so the nail head here is is different and then some of the accessorizing you'll see the bronze and the silver together just to kind of keep that flow from the great room in the kitchen coming into here it's kind of a subliminal thing but it really and you know where i think you tied it all together [Music] the colors in the accessories on the built-in are featured in that arts just beautiful and ties in the wall finish and this amazing hand painted mica it it feels like water and that's what i wanted to just to feel like in here spa and just relaxing and just and it's got this little ombre effect and when you're soaking in this tub tell me about soaking in this tub i mean come on that is just like a dream right there [Music] so tell me about this tub oh this is a wonderful soaking tub it actually it allows you to sit upright so you can take in the views from outside and you can enjoy a glass of wine well cheers to that [Music] what did the builders think when you said i want a soaking tub in the middle of my bedroom well they you know a lot of people scratch their heads as to why to do that but you know you take the proper care with wet surfaces i put down you know yeah and you've made this into a platform all in all this room is spectacular no rebecca you really need to enjoy this tub while you're here i think that's a great idea i'll cheers to that [Music] this is great you know what we should do why don't we [Music] [Music] man you've got like you've got peanut butter ones and you've got mint patty ones i've never even heard of that those are called ultimate ultimate s'mores oh the ultimate s'more there you go somehow i feel like this is a pitchfork so good mmm wow [Music] [Music] [Music] dice [Music] what do you think of this amazing lakeview home i hope you've enjoyed this video and you've learned a few things
