This one makes my brain hurt.

I would have to see this in action to have any idea what the heck is happening.

Looks to be a triple failsafe syphon. Where can one obtain one of these?

here's another random diversion this is a device called an auto siphon and I saw it in a catalog while I was looking for some electrical and plumbing components and this is normally used in public toilets let me get get the notepad and pen to show you what this does so if you've ever seen the public toilets where you've got the cistern that is gradually filled well this siphon device goes into it like that at the bottom and you've either got a valve coming this a that just continually drizzles a small quantity of water in and or you've got a tap that comes right over the top and sometimes there are some specialist taps that are just designed for this task and they just drizzle a continuous flow of water and when the water reaches a specific level in the tank it suddenly all gets dumped out down sometimes just one paper sometimes a whole run of pay with lots of taps taken off and that is used to flush urinals now in the past the traditional air siphon would just have been a pipe like that and the point is that when the water reaches the height that it starts flowing down this pipe then it creates a vacuum and it pulls water up in the water will all then flood out until it reaches about that hate and air can get back in the this tape it has a pipe well this is if I thought it was I thought it was going to be simple but looking at this it's clear Knox it's got copper pipes inside as well there this tape is a different version where the water has to go up to this level start running over the top of the pipe and then it creates the vacuum pools of water up until all the water has been drained out but as I say look at this one it's very clear that it's a lot more complicated than that and I can understand that because if you think that it's quite a large damage of pipe if that was just a piping up to the end and the water was just drizzling into the tank it would just all it would do is just a drizzle over the edge plenty of air could get in from the bottom here and it would just not work so this is much more complicated than I was expecting so let's say open it up and see what's inside so this thing is clipped together not sure how easily is it going to come to bit so this is a fairly cheap plastic there's also little ear paper goes in here I guess that may be to do with displacement of maybe that lets the ear in the control map and all Russian or maybe it likes that our you know what I bet there's some sort of release valve oh that's complicated so that little hose it's just held in by clip and it goes up to the end and say it just goes loose so when you actually put it over here it's just going to end up somewhere up about here and guessing it may be cello ear out so looking down that pipe I'm not sure if this has a clear I think there's something really serious going on in here and this is glued I think I'm going to have to break that seal this copper pipe looks like so oh I know what this says I've suddenly worked out what it is this is a little siphon this is a double cipher that's weird I get the feeling that there must be a release valve in here and when one of these pipes ylor to when one of these pipes start siphoning and it then unlocks it and the water can flow down this pipe there's only one way to find out and that's to open this I'm just going to go and get the grips and we'll see if we can just crack this I don't think this is gonna come off easily I think that is glued this may be destructive but you know what we need to know what's inside oh this may not be as easy as I think what's a hand lots of opportunity crushed my hands here or that is really well glued I may have to Dremel this open which would be ashamed to break this but having said that I don't have urinals in my house as such so M I may have to just open this anyway so I've got a pause and I'm going to get the Dremel and we're going to open this [Music] snap can open let's apply some leverage screwdriver screwdriver over here screwed over okay I'll use this comminute oh that's intriguing so oh I get it that is like a valve that this pipe sits in there and I suppose ultimately okay it's like multiple siphons it's like stacked siphons that is weird so this is a cup I don't think there's a valve beyond this I think I literally I'm just sticking a finger straight up and touching that old Cup so this mean siphon pipe sits in this liquid and yeah that's perplexing I could have I'm going to have to doodle this down a bit back in a moment okay this is actually quite complex I'd love to actually see one of these in clear plastic or glass operating just to see what goes on so we start off with the base of the unit which is a sealed container and in that container is the outlet pipe this old light pipe and some species at the bottom and then as a cup sits off to one side and that's this cup here the lid goes over the top of that and II the main siphon pipe the one that most the water comes down goes down like this and dips into that Cup so if there's water on the cop that stops air flowing back up it means that this is going to actually help it actively siphon and once said the floor starts once while just pouring down there the flow of water would be down this pipe up over here down and under under down the mean pay however there's also if you look at the dome that's over the top there is a little pipe inside which leads up to about the height of that pipe is it for allowing air to get out I'm not sure if water is flowing up in the base of this because water can actually flow up in the base of this air siphon which is really bulk of the water goes in then would it be able to displace zero if that's actually underwater not sure but then after this in case that doesn't start the siphon itself I'm guessing that these are sort of trigger siphons because there's a EM pipe comes up that seems to be placed over this cup of water here it's the spoke goes up higher than this main pipe here and it goes into us of a purse eyghon chamber which is a little cup over it like that and a little mini tank of its own so water flows in there if water reaches the top of this dome in here which is this bit this is the serve that that pipe comes in here and goes up to the top of this of dome which also has a little hole in the top oh this is complex fluid dynamics it's so you can get that oh it's clipped in quite tightly and the other side is no clipton again your sense oh right okay so there's a another - that gets even more complicated there's that there's a little siphon tube like that and then there's a lower thing over the top with a hole in it to let water in that the water can always get in at the bottom or does that seal there's a little ring around here but that may just be for alignment and then as a next resort there's a hold that a copper pipe that then goes in like that and comes down and also goes down there so it's almost like it's there if it doesn't save from once it reaches this level then there's two other stages that we'll try and kick start it unless these actually deliberately trigger it and that won't siphon itself which you'd think of would siphon itself and all I can really think is that if air is coming up here and stopping it from cycling properly that these do deluge a little water into the cup and sort of trying portion of water and that kick starts the cycling this is a lot more complex and I've done I thought it wise it's it's not immediately obvious to me how this works if you guys have any idea the operation of this could you leave a comment down below because I this is just really weird and complex I mean it's fascinating it's just such a complex thing so here's a cup here's that paper into the cup and the two water outlets that also seem to channel water into that cup then we've got this container here that goes over the top like that so that pipes come in through there and then we get this double container see it's get the little pet thimble inside which is molded in plus a vent hole here and it goes over the top of this pipe and clips in and then we've got the copper pipe siphon plate which then goes into that reservoir as well and just goes down into that hole that is so complicated it really is so much more complicated I thought it was going to be it makes it a verb vegetable bargain or something about seven or eight quid it was quite cheap thing and I thought it was just going to be a pay pop the middle and the dome over the top and that was going to be it this is really complex yeah if you know how this works so if you can think of how this works or if you're familiar with these multiple siphoning trigger mechanisms leave a comment down below this is quite interesting
