Improbable 4-way tie for uneven bars gold at 2015 World Championships | NBC Sports

she had the highest degree of difficulty score on uneven bars in the preliminary competition and yet she's the youngest member of the chinese team here in glasgow she turns 16 on november the 11th which means that just by about six weeks she's age eligible for this meet and next year's olympics big start with those inbar skills nice connection work back and forth between the bars finishing with a ginger [Applause] beautiful pair of wedding elements right in the perfect handstand position finishing double layout wow bright future for her young competitor in her first world championships not only makes the finals handles the pressure very well he's the chinese champion on that event the bronze medalist at the asian games this year as well so as expected the chinese gym is just superb on this event you mentioned her level of difficulty very impressive similar skills that we see but what made hers difficult is she doesn't touch her feet to the bar we call that an inbar circle she did multiple throughout this routine and of course connecting these elements together big releases with a back swing finishing with the ginger beautiful job [Music] you see her coach reaching in there as long as he doesn't touch her there's no deduction but some gymnasts just for safety purposes and security elects to have their coach standing [Music] 366. [Applause] moves into the lead victoria kamova one of the most experienced gymnasts here second in the all-around to gabby douglas in 2012 and the russians were second in the team competition but she has gone five inches since those olympics just three years ago and had several injuries so to have her back at this level is impressive well her beautiful form and the added length of her swing while it makes it more difficult it does make it even more beautiful here it comes no problem today right to the takachub in the pike position she has among the best execution in the meet rarely do you see her feet come apart at all on those pure wedding skills or the release moves in an incredible line we talk about that on the uneven bars every time she hits that handstand position she has such a beautiful extension look at this jaeger well above the bar at laid out position pushing tall to that handstand pirouettes directly into the dismount pull twisting double back drops out of the sky holds on to that landing and a big smile well deserved look at those pointed toes throughout the end of that exercise her mother by the way vera coles nicobo was a world champion for the soviet team back in 1985. judges are two conferring that will determine the degree of difficulty and then five execution judges plus two additional judges from the international gymnastics federation contribute to the execution scores so it's likely that they are trying to find every little execution deduction and there weren't many there definitely were not many but they do have to agree on the spread they have there especially when there's medals on the line and she is a contender six six difficulty eight seven six six execution fifteen three six six [Applause] so that puts her in a tie for first fond yelin and victoria kamova currently tied for first here at the world championships 18 year old madison cushion now getting set for the uneven bar finals she trains at the world olympic gymnastics academy down in texas of course that's the program that produced nastia luken and carly patterson both olympic all-around champions [Music] she can connect those elements was a little bit crooked smart decision held great form throughout [Applause] solid [Applause] u.s national champion on this event and you can see why lots of difficulty good form throughout finishing with that full twisting double back uneven bars hasn't traditionally been the best event for the americans in recent years so madison is on this team specifically for what she contributes for that excellence on the uneven bombs [Music] she along with simone biles are the only two returning members from last year's world championship team nice form throughout this release combination takes it right back down to the low bar and releases with that half turn back to the high bar remember all of those big elements add to the difficulty score but the more you can do in combination the better look at that line there full twisting staller directly connected to the dismount [Music] oh look at that six six is her score and difficulty fifteen three six six so koshion also ties for first with fun helen and victoria kamova a three-way tie kamova gets a kick out of it that is not easy to do considering the difficulty score as well as all of the execution judges there's a total of nine judges over there and they came up with the same exact score for three different gymnasts [Applause] looks like she's going well whatever it's her first title i get a goal no matter what good for her what a moment for madison cosion from the united states daria spiridonova the only medalist from the 2014 world's final in the competition here she has a spectacular bar routine as well big combination those inbar stalders beautiful holding that handstand [Music] dismounting full twisting double back another great routine [Applause] [Music] wow beautiful gymnastics packed into these routines and there's not much to say because they've all been so good remember there's a three-way tie for first place right now [Music] the russian team known for their beautiful body alignment on this event but they also have big elements lots of difficulty and today they executed flawlessly beautiful right on top there again connected like her teammate to that full twisting double back [Music] oh my goodness wow 15 366 a four-way tie for first place how in the world can that happen i think all of the athletes are shocked look at the coaches oh my goodness wow they might be wondering who's getting the gold do you think they have enough gold medals in the back my goodness and madison caution also in the top spot well this has never happened before in world championship history four young ladies share the top spot on the podium you see three there but they're about to introduce madison cochian from the united states what a moment for this 18 year old gymnast when she was a junior she tried to quit gymnastics for a short period of time went back down to level 10 and decided to give elite gymnastics one more try and today with this gold medal for her and the u.s [Music] what a thrill the hard work definitely paid off and you talk about this tie never happening this is extremely tough to do the new scoring system along with the amount of judges of course they have the difficulty score and the execution score and congratulations because all four of these routines definitely deserved it in fact we were talking earlier this is probably one of the best world championship event finals we've ever seen some of the best routines going head to head and everybody executed some of the best routines they've done here at this world championships [Music] so gold for china two golds for russia and one gold for the united states on the uneven bars [Music] [Applause] [Music] it's been so fun to watch it always amazes me at the athletes that make the bar finals they have some of the best and that definitely was
