im trying to cure doomscrolling (day 195, build log)

hello my friends on the Internet it's your friend Jack here and today we're going to be talking about how my journey to and doom scrolling is going this is day 195 so let's get right into it now this is a log this is me talking about what's going on but also want to tell you how the app works if you're new here I'm going to show you really quickly can skip probably had 1 minute if you already know how it works but basically the app is called curiosity clch and the whole purpose behind this app is to help people take action and fill that void that might be there if they were to successfully quit social media and then instead of blocking the apps you can now come here when you're tempted to go social media generate a plan and do the plan I know this is going to take effort I know not everyone has agency to do that but this helps people take the first step and that's really the Big Goal so how it works is people come here they explore a thousand different interests literally a thousand um actually think it's like a little bit less some it's pretty it's thousand we're calling it a thousand going add more to add more every day so it works by people adding their interests and when they find something they're interested in that is unique to them they can then do it they do it by generating a plan the plans I recently upgraded uh about 3 days ago two and a half and they're much better now um so you can choose out of the things you've added to your list what you want to have planned for your experience level the advanced beginner is quite significant so there is now a actual very large increase in skill or perceived experience when you do click these before there was none I kind of forgot to spell difficulty correctly anyways one letter okay one letter off but you generate a plan and it looks like this um now this is starting coding so obviously it's not perfect obviously you don't might not know what an IDE is that's fine um but then if you don't you just hold the step and you click get help okay so you get you get help now this is the whole point of the app to help you take the first step once you set aside your dedicated coding space you now have taken more steps than you usually would in any other day um now to be honest I think this is great I think this will help people I know it's not for everybody but this is my alternative to help people get off the scroll and not a roll this is how I think we can best end Doom scrolling by allowing people to show themselves what they're capable of and allowing by allowing people to show themselves what they're interested in because if we're being recommended for you 24/7 it's really hard to know what you're interested in it's hard to really discover what you like doing and you discover what you like doing by trying new things a lot of that comes here to this app so that's how it's going um that that that's how it works and how it's been going lately is I've basically been trying to make the pay wall look a bit better so people may be give you money that would be nice um here is the premium pay wall so the app is free at the moment um I've been thinking about changing that and making it pay to play but I don't think I'm comfortable of doing that yet and I want to make the app much better first that's where I'm at right now in my dilemma here because so many people and so many successful friends of mine who have successful businesses and are doing great they have told me to hard pay while the app meaning you have to pay to use it I think I found a middle ground which I'm comfortable with and we may be rolling with that but for now I want to make the app better and yes some more features will be premium gated but the core functionality of the app at this moment is 100% you have to watch some ads you don't like ads and I guess you don't like me anyway um this is kind of what the pay what looks like right now um it is pretty pretty good I mean there's a 7day free trial on now instead of three I'm just trying that out I think three is kind of short and seven would be nice to give to people um especially if I do end up going to a pay more pay model but right now it's free and you can also have free premium 7 days if you start a free trial but the point of what I'm trying to tell you is that I've been working on making a better pay wall um kind of my own this is one that includes testimonials because a lot of people have said good things about the app and I want to show those to people maybe are thinking about giving me money okay so that's kind of where I'm at right now I'm making that better I'm making some other parts better I made it less laggy or certain devices and these things are more smooth now I optimized some of the code yesterday or two days ago and I've just been working on every day I want to make the app better um really this is going to be a love laboring process it's going to take a long time I know that especially someone who a beginner um rent issues every day I'm probably going to take out this for you page at some point really ugly I don't know how great it is I think it's kind of confusing for new users when they come here and they don't know what to do and they click this page they're overwhelmed they def have no idea what's going on here and it's confusing very confusing so that's where I'm at um there's a lot to work on but in order to end Doom scrolling I think the main thing that I need to do is just make this app better make it simpler to use and make it more effective at conveying its value to someone who wants to get off the scroll and on a roll I know not everybody on this app will be actually trying to get off of Tik Tok a lot of people just want to for their interests and this comes across as one of the apps that can help them do that I'm glad for that too but the main mission here right now is to end Doom scrolling and tell people do more of what they enjoy or find what they enjoy and do more of it and that's how it's going day 195 um been working on it for nine months now initial concept to this this g a long way it looks a lot less uglier um than even it did a month ago before it had some help on the UI and it looks amazing now in comparison but yeah I've also been making 3D models for my app just to feel the show off on my website and on the also on the new a wall this and yeah that's kind
