I'm a Mermaid | Animated Story about My Tattoo

hey guys my name is nelly but this doesn't really matter because for everyone around i'm just a fairy tale character a mermaid actually this is not my stage costume and i'm not fooling around the problem is a birth defect i was born a really deformed person with a very long torso which is down to my heels and small feet sticking out of it in fact my torso was normal the problem was that totally fused legs came out of it and this created a very terrifying and strange effect however to be honest this is actually really awful doctors immediately called me a mermaid and a few days later they told my parents that i had a birth defect fused legs which occurs in one baby out of a hundred thousand children and unfortunately such kids do not live longer than one year and only in some cases they survive until the age of 10. as you've already understood the forecast was really bad but still my parents fell in love with me at first sight and decided to make me happy no matter how long i was supposed to live and i am incredibly grateful to them for this i am proud of my family and they are proud of me do you think that it is impossible to be proud of an ugly person soon i will manage to convince you otherwise i guess that thanks to the love of my parents i overcame two critical periods when i was one year old and 10 years old this is incredible because mermaids shouldn't live that long at the age of five i had a turning point when due to the impaired blood flow in the lower extremities i suffered from clogged veins and gangrene as a result the best doctors of the city were fighting for my life for almost a month but even at that moment i managed to survive despite the horrible predictions but after that incident i became even uglier than before because my legs were covered with blue spots and they looked really creepy even worse than before this problem was especially embarrassing when i went to school the fact is that my parents despite everything decided to send me to a regular school with healthy children and asked my teachers not to cut me any slack this was necessary so that i would not feel sorry for myself that others would not pity me and that i would be a social person it is for this reason that i went to the swimming pool twice a week together with the whole class and there my ugliness was fully visible my classmates watched me in horror some of them felt pity for me others were disgusted by me and i understood that i would never be able to become like everyone else once my friend victoria asked why i still hadn't sewn a mermaid costume for myself as i would look very cool and amazing in it and i thought indeed why not and within a week i had a custom-made mermaid bathing suit in such an outfit i really looked much better than before and everyone gathered around to look at me the workers of the swimming pool even took photos with me i was happy that i evoked not pity and contempt at that moment but interest and delight especially among small kids who asked to touch my tail from time to time but about a year ago the blood circulation in my lower extremities was impaired again and i was admitted to the hospital once more the forecasts were disappointing and my parents could only pray however fate sent me a wonderful doctor who when i was recovering said that he knew a clinic where the operation of separating the fused legs had once been carried out and he gave me the phone number of the doctor who performed that surgery so my mom immediately called the number that was given but after the conversation she had ambiguous feelings i saw that on the one hand she was cheerful and ready to rejoice but on the other hand she wanted to cry and was far from being happy and i was not mistaken it turned out that the doctor had already looked through my medical history saw my pictures and said that he was ready to perform the surgery he estimated the chances for its success at 80 percent but announced the price with six zeros for such work we just did not have and would never have such an amount of money after hearing the news my mother and i burst into tears together here was the key to my salvation on the one hand it is within reach but on the other hand it is totally unrealistic it is difficult to describe what i felt at that moment i was terribly depressed and realized that in fact my life was estimated at a certain amount and without it i had no right to live but soon i managed to pull myself together at that moment my parents also came to their senses and we began to think everything over soon we arrived at the unanimous decision to make a tattoo on the lower part of my body so that i looked like a real mermaid and after that to make a magic water show because i'm a great swimmer and people like watching me in fact my bathing suit has been replaced by a tattoo but i was totally happy because looking like this i loved myself so much more my parents managed to negotiate with a dolphinarium and i was hired there as an actress twice a week i performed the role of a mermaid there and i am saving the money i earn for the surgery in addition once a week my dad and i go to the seaside where anyone can take a photo with a real mermaid for a certain fee i managed to make an indelible impression on the audience and many people return to me again and again and i am very glad that they like my show because if it were not for them i would never have gotten rolling and wouldn't have started saving money for my surgery but unfortunately not all viewers are kind and grateful once during a break between performances a lady came up to me and asked if it was difficult for me to give such shows and whose initiative this has been i didn't understand what she was talking about right away but i still kindly answered that i worked there because i liked it and this was based only on my desire the woman grinned incredulously and left while i continued the show however after the performance next to the locker room the police were waiting for me and my parents they came here for us they began to ask strange questions but we could not understand why we had such an honor but soon everything started to make sense and we found out that about an hour before the police had received a complaint from an anonymous caller who said that child labor and exploitation was observed in our dolphinarium and that the legs of an underage girl were tied and decorated like a mermaid's tail and the child was forced to give performances the anonymous caller asked to sort this situation out and to save the poor teenager i had no doubts about who the caller of that false report was but i could not understand why she needed to do this thanks to her conscientiousness our family had serious problems and since we did not properly formalize my activities we were fined and i could not work for almost a month losing precious time but she didn't even find out why i was doing all that and what had really happened to my legs when my parents and i finally solved all our problems and i returned to the show one day i saw that disgusting woman once more and she came up to me during the break again asking why the police had not helped me and whether they had come to us at all then it was like something exploded inside of me and i started shouting at her driving her out of the dolphinarium i said that she was a mean person who wanted to break the lives of people and i told her to forget about me and never interfere in my life and work again the quarrelsome lady ran away from there as quickly as she could and i followed her with my eyes thinking about the month that i had lost not without the help of my parents i have managed to accumulate a tenth of the required amount and if everything continues this way i will be able to have the surgery in four or five years i hope that during this time i will not have any borderline states when doctors will have to fight for my life
