to Love and Marriage most people would agree that  money and finances are a definite ingredient but   our guests today are women who say if you don't  have money and lots of it you're simply not worth   dating meet Jennifer Aaron Tara and Laura all  of them are interested in only one thing money   they say it is silly to waste your time looking  for love when you could be traveling and shopping   thank you ladies for being here now I'm going  to go down the line and ask you individually   what is the most expensive thing you've  ever been given from a man my apartment   an apartment yeah because like I I'm a dancer  and I met this guy at a bar that I was working   at and you could tell if they got money by the  way they carry themselves and their hand motions   things like that so I was standing for about a  month or something like that and you know I want   him to better my projects and you know Finance  me better than he was so he took me out and got   me an apartment put all the money down on it  and I got rid of them like a month later but   now I got somebody else to pay my rent really  yeah so you're you're happy yeah what about you   Aaron what's the most expensive thing you've  ever been getting I have a two-bedroom condo   um the guy who gave me the condo it was his  father's his father passed and they owned a   boat company and so the father left everything  to the Sun and I was living at home at the time   when I met the guy and I got tired of you know  going by my parents rules so I asked him would   he put me in a place and he was going to put me  in an apartment but he had to spare condo so he   put me in the condo how lucky for you what about  you Tara I went out on shopping sprees I needed   clothes I just moved out of my father's house and  I didn't really have no clothes so I went out met   this guy we started going out going on dates and  I was telling him how I needed some clothes I went   out to eat one day and I was like look at that  dress that's nice dress next thing I know I got it   and then it was to also I had to pay  for me to go see my mom in Florida   that blew me up there flew me back wow so  how much would he spend on a shopping spree   for you it all depends on how much you have  to tell her how much clothes wherever we go   a couple hundred so basically whatever you wanted  yeah you got what about you Laura what's the most   expensive thing you've been given I would say  my ring and my necklace my ex-boyfriend Matt   used to buy me things all the time he took me  to Chicago for one weekend this summer and he   just heard by everything for me but I really  did love him but okay having said all that I   want to know from all of you ladies what you  give them in return companionship friendship   exactly I spend time with them and I think  that my time is very precious though so is   her time money audience right sometimes right  audiences her time worth a two-bedroom condo yep darling your time ain't worth that much  because shoot obviously taught myself it   must be I got it you must be giving up  something more than just companionship that's not true you can have a way of doing things  of or getting things that you want you don't   always have to have sex sex is not everything  okay okay you you said sex right the only   thing see it is people say that money doesn't buy  happiness it does it people don't realize how much   how much fun you can have with  money but does it buy you love   I think it does it can't it can't it buys me love  I'm in love with their money that's right exactly yes what do you want to say I know that um  you guys get a lot of things and everything   like that and but don't you guys not to be  really mean or anything but don't you guys   feel cheap and used and everything like that  if you're a girl sleeps with a guy after a   date with McDonald's you know why don't you get  everything you can out of them dogs anyway treat   them the way they're supposed to be treated  that's right you know that's in my opinion   right you stuck yeah I agree with you I just  do want to man if they want to do unto women   exactly but is you saying that it sounds like a  guy burned you in your past oh a lot of experience   a lot of negative experiences it sounds is that  true in all of the cases some guy burnt me and   I really got him back I took his wallet he was  like married and like he went back I don't care   because you know I get I think they treat like the  girlfriends better than their wives but he started   not showing as much as he was when we were first  together so one night he was holding back on you   yeah so one night we were sleeping and I took his  wallet and he got lots of credit cards so I went   like on a shopping spree with his credit cards and  he couldn't he couldn't say that I did it because   his wife will find out and of course divorce  himself we just left it at that but you know   you you burn me you're going to get burnt back  that's right straight up okay the second lady   said her time was very valuable I'd like to know  if she ever calculated her hourly rate excuse me it suddenly got warm in here oh not to change the  subject but Laura you you are following in your   mother's footsteps how so well my mother married  someone who had potential to make money and   he just you know he wasn't Rich at the time but  she knew that he would be making a lot of money   and she married them and they did really well I  just I'm used to having money and I don't want   to go to someone that doesn't because I'm used  to having the things that I just want have you   ever have any of you ladies thought of making  your own money and buying your own thing yes I   owe money but I figure when it's time for me  to stop having fun with the guys money I'll   have something fall back on I'm in college right  now I mean I'm a freshman at College I'm studying   fashion merchandising I plan on making money but  I also plan on marrying someone with money okay   I think um if you can't do for yourself you  shouldn't be sitting there calling yourself ladies   because the lady knows how to do for herself  live for herself and be for herself foreign do you think that you can find love this way yeah  yeah you can fall in love I'm curious how do you   how do you plan if you're looking at someone's  wallet and their income tax return how can you   that's right by my love they buy your love okay   um what if one of you ladies were to meet someone  who treated you very nice but they didn't have as   much money as you expected them to have would  you pass them on get it get it wait which one   of you has done that you Laura I think it was  you you dumped a guy because he was poor we we   went out a couple times and we were talking about  money and he was saying he wanted to marry me and   I said well I hope you can make me happy because  I want a lot and he just blew it off like well no   and I said all right forget it then well stand up  because they're at least being honest with what   they want they can make you happy but happiness  cannot pay your bills and pay for what you want   so kids let me ask you ma'am if you had a choice  you were dating two guys and you liked them both   the same and one had money and one didn't which  would you go for the money man be honest man no   because what happens if you were to go broke what  would you be left with and you didn't get along buy everything you're not looking for the  loan at all are you all nightmare Deborah had an affair with a  wealthy Italian man he told her what to   wear where to go who to see and even  threw money on the dresser and told   her to get her hair cut short Shonda  says she found herself in bed with an   ugly 400 pound man who repulsed her and Latonya  says she lost her soul don't expect to fall in   love with the person you planned to use and who  is using you thank you ladies for being here Shonda I'm going to begin with you now how far did  you let it go before you thought that gold digging   wasn't for you a year and a half but what point at  what point did you reach what was your life like   it was horrible I was living with a fat slop  all right I mean it was it was terrible it was   but it did work for you for some time yes it  did what about you oh I'm the one who met the   um Italian man and since I was living in Italy  and I didn't really have a place to stay and he   had a beautiful apartment so I moved in with him  and I think that the point when he put the money   on the dresser and told me to go get a haircut  you do not tell a black girl to cut her hair off   so I was like see ya and so that was the the line  that he crossed yes I would say he crossed that   line so what did you get from him up until that  point he was actually gorgeous but he was just   incredibly wealthy so he paid for everything  you know just everything that I could think of   but now it's different now things have changed  and you work for yourself oh that was you know   I was young and just kind of frivolous and I was  vacationing so do you think that's the problem do   you think these ladies are just well I think that  there are many career opportunities and perhaps   women dabble in you know a few and so I consider  three gold dabbling what do you think Latonya it's funny I've been I've been listed  some of this um basically for me I feel   that women need to go out and work it  for themselves you don't need a man although you do need a significant  other in your life a woman no matter   what age you are should never have  to depend on a man to support them so you've had your fun so we're gonna have  our fun no matter what anything well sweetie   my fun ended at the age of 18 19 years old yeah  and for me it was a matter I still worked I had   a full-time job and I went to school I went  to college and I worked at the same time the   men that I were with or the guy that I was  dating at that time because I only dated one   at a time they felt that they had to give me  this thing because there was no sex involved   there at that time and that was a commitment  I made to myself however just to have me on   their side to say well this is my girlfriend  and she's intelligent and she's pretty or   whatever they gave me thing they gave me jewelry  they gave me clothes I always wore the best of   clothes and everything I want but you're  doing this extra training specifically as   a career one at a time one at a time ladies  what you have a job yeah I have a job and I   have kids to support I support I'm a dancer  okay now I think you should go to education more than a dollar so why you have a job you make  money why don't you think it's more thrilling to   be able to buy yourself something as opposed to  using some guy to get him to buy something for   you I don't think I'm using him at all I think  he gives it to me so I'm gonna take it okay I'm   not going to turn it down but why is it but he's  not going to be giving it to you when you're 50. if you're a gold digger now and you're planning  on retiring as a gold gold digger it's never   going to stop because it's always going to be  more once you have a goal once you have a man   that's been supporting you he leaves and you  can't support yourself the way he did you go   to another one you're right but see I have a  degree and I have a job I have a full-time job Latonya Tanya you take it  excuse me Latonya you seem   to think that these women  lack self-respect yes I do okay basically basic basically what you wouldn't for yourself to go out there  make it for yourself so you're going to put   that in a man's hands and let him control  your life as far as your Prosperity is   concerned and it's not his place it's the  1990s we don't need to do that anymore   they don't control me okay for instance you  you said he put you up in a condo if this   man says well I want to go out tonight and  I want you there and this and that or else which his father died and left  to him you're going to tell me   if he tell you to hit the street  you won't hit it no oh no sister you will go and you believe fast  because all he has to do is say   ouch you go and if you don't want to go  the sheriff will sit you out for him okay so we just want something back but sweetie she  is because you've been borrowed it doesn't mean   you go out and you burn someone else you have to  go within your goods around comes around that's   right all right that doesn't mean that you have  to go and do it to someone else it means if he   burns you he has to pay the price for that in life  not you okay let me take a comment out here uh all   four of you looking for guys with a lot of money  Fifth Avenue is right down the block all right okay you want to say I don't think uh that  these women over here understand what it   is to really be in love okay for you to say  that a man's gonna gonna just take care of me   and buy me buy me things that's not love and  if you were really in love you go to the end   of the Earth with him and not I mean whether  he had money or not you'd be there that's a   lie because I'm sure a married couple if a  man came up to a married woman and she was   so in love with her husband and put a million  dollars in her face that's a lie if you ain't   gonna take it because a million dollars only  make you and your husband's life no no no no no disagreeing with Jennifer yeah let me stop you  right there okay because because I am engaged   and I'm and I'm engaged to a man who was very  successful in life and when he met me yes he   could have possibly provided those things for me  but at that point I felt that I was cheap why do   I have to depend on this person to put this in my  life and that man just because I mean he wanted   to he would he could have bought me anything I  wanted however he saw me for me right and not as   a gold digger and at this point I am engaged to  this man and I've been with him for eight years   so the time I have met a lot of wealthy men and  not one of them could turn my hair because they   can't offer me the things in life I want and  that's love a peace of mind security all right we need to take a break when  we come back we'll meet a gold   digger and her best friend don't go away [Music] hi we're back you have an interesting story um I  am I probably grew up with the background of the   third girl there I grew up on Park Avenue private  schools the whole nine yards went through a trust   fund came to the edge of 25 and had no idea  how to support myself and was petrified and   I actually did what you guys did for a period of  time I used to boast that I could walk into a room   pick any guy in the place and pick him up and I  could do it what about autonomy what about like   getting to a certain age and knowing that you  can make it on your own you're right I mean I'm   a freshman in college I am scared right now  and I can't see myself living without money   but I what you were saying before we don't have  values we we don't want to work on our own I do   want to work on my own I want to make a career at  a fashion merchandising but I also want someone   who's wealthy so that we can do things together  and I won't have to support him when I have kids   I don't want to have to be at work I want to  stay home and raise my kids I don't want them   to go to child care or anything and that's that's  one big part of I need to marry someone very rich   is that the way you were raised that my mom  didn't work for 17 years after my sister and   I were born the man your mother married  what had the potential to be wealthy but   so he wasn't Rich to start out with no but now  when my when my mom and I talk she knows how   I am and she says you know I agree with you not  fully you don't need to marry someone very rich   she said but just marry someone with a good  potential that's gonna always have money and   you're never gonna have to go into debt or  because I think that money causes a lot of   fights and relationships when you're married and  the you know bills are getting really bad money   just you know you fight when bills are getting bad  and my kids should just go out with someone cute any man that thinks he can pay for a woman is  a dog and we know that let's face it sir that   you want that your mother said you had to have  someone who was who would never be broke and who   would always have money but don't you know as long  as you have a skill there is no reason for you to   ever be broke because you have the potential to go  out there and do something work for them why are   there so many people these days who have skills  who cannot get jobs let me introduce you I'm going   to introduce you okay what happens when your best  friend just happens to be a die-hard gold digger   and you're not meet Beth and her good friend  Rebecca Beth says that Becky is silly to waste her   time and good looks on love you can make yourself  fall in love with anyone he might as well be rich   Rebecca says Beth is becoming a fine  candidate for the Heidi Fleiss Club now what does that mean well if she would have  come to California before Heidi got busted a   couple months ago she could have made a thousand  dollars a night fifteen hundred fifteen hundred I must comment on that go right ahead I do not  sleep with all these guys that I you know want   to go out with and and get their money you do not  have to sleep with all these men and I don't know   maybe I'm shattering this image for all of you who  think that you do have to have sex to get a man you do not because I'm sorry but this you can get a poor guy who will save his money for  four months whatever just to take the girl of his   dreams out and he will spend that and he will  have about a week's worth of really good dates   and you seem to think yeah this guy's got some  money [Applause] as a matter of fact no she is   she will be watching the show but what I'm saying  is I don't jump into bed with these guys because   I you don't have to jump into bed with these guys  I would not jump into a bed with a guy that I that   I used to love I I did do the love thing and  I got burnt four times and you can ask Becky   um I just recently no I just let her finish  darling I have a personality I just I just   recently changed I mean in March I was dumped  for the last time and so I have just recently I just recently got dumped by a guy I was in love  with the last guy I probably will be in love for   just love with because I didn't just go out with  men with money and now I've totally changed my   outlook on life because I'm tired of having  being emotionally drained wasting my energies   and putting it into a man who is not going to  love me and I have been dumped before and I   don't want to deal with that anymore all right  okay I have to defend Beth for you know just a   moment she does have a great personality I think  what you're hearing here is a cynical outlook on   life because it's not so much the professional  gold digger as you get cynical and you say well   love didn't work let me try the next thing so  she has a gold digger but because I like girl   Defender there you all seem so angry like Pretty  Woman though do you hate men no I love men [Music]   and I hate what they have done to me and I  you know I don't feel like I should have to   put myself through that again no and and I don't  feel like I should have to go through life wasting   my energy on that when I can just as easily fall  in love make myself fall in love with a rich man I did not allow it to happen to myself obviously  I ran up on some bad apples who use me and I might   want to add that the guy I dated he he used me  I I was paying for everything when we went out   to dinner his idea of a good out to dinner thing  was an all-you-can-eat at the Wendy's super bar   and at that time I enjoyed that because I was  in love but I'm not gonna wait no no you had a   choice to do it you didn't have to excuse me you  don't want to work anymore you want to travel   and shop right now yeah I do want to travel and  Shop although to pick up on what this lady said   I am a senior in college I have one more class  until I graduate and so I do have a skill I'm   going into advertising and I hope to meet a man  through that field okay now Deborah do you think   that these women are not putting out for these  men oh please I'm a writer this is not we're   not writing screenplays here this is real life  and Men pay for what they want okay there are   guys out there who want to love and they happen  to have money why can't I find one maybe maybe   Sean will give you that 400 400 pound fat  guy's number all right we come back we'll   meet a woman who said the gold digging is just  a nice way to these guys you know   what I'm saying I mean how much are they going to  really give you and you're not putting nothing out   how many people are there that are in love and  they're not putting out until they until they've   just lust it is not lust it is by the minute trust  me it's better that way and be honest with them great okay they think we're just interested in  these material things okay fine I want money   yeah but we've got these people out there who  will not date a guy just because of the way he   looks for example Becky she goes for the looks  and the nice I want the nice assets I'm sorry   but that's how it is the only difference  between her little Cinderella story and my   Cinderella story is that she doesn't care if  Prince Charming comes riding up on a 10-speed   bike bicycle and it lives in a shack and I do I  want the castle and I want everything else that   goes with it let me ask you Vanessa do you think  that these men know what these women are after   well it depends on how naive they are  you know there are a lot of suckers   out there but then they get mad and they  marry these women and they come out they   have to come see me because they're  not getting any sexual gratification oh she's asleep now let me go down  here and get me a little uh you know   okay all right and then doing nothing  but cheating on you do you think they're   loyal right and love guys cheat  on you too there is no one though but eventually it does come down to having sex  with those guys you said he's given Apartments   she might have said a condo right but I better  stay with them I don't have an apartment I don't   know one at a time that you don't stay with  them that long you're saying you rotate so   you're actually throwing yourself out there  to catch AIDS you're playing crap no I don't   sleep there is protection there is condoms you  know I already have a baby all the time 100   yes I have one boy okay after him I always wear  condoms and I was with my son's father foreign who who date a guy for love and  and don't have sex until their   wedding day why can't we make I can fall in love because she has morals you're out there for the  money so what kind of morals do you have I have   morals my my money morals and my sexual morals are  don't do different stories they do not intertwine   and that's all part of your life whether you  like it or not spend their money and not have   to sleep but you can spend your own money how  can you have self-respect and take money from   them and because I I am feeling like I would be  this would be a relationship and he doesn't have   to know that I'm just using him for his money  like I said okay he knows now but what is so   special about you that these men should give you  money and buy you gifts and you're not gonna I'm   not even talking about sex I'm talking about your  company what is so special that you deserve trips   they don't have to give me money if they have real  estate stocks bonds something that I could use um I'm comfortable actually actually I can cook  you can cook I can cook and I do have a good   personality although I mean you're hearing what  you want to hear right now because all of you   are saying that you don't agree with me but I bet  if any of these women are here in the audience if   we were to get them on the street No cameras  are around and you had a guy with money over   here you had a guy with no money over here and  you didn't know anything about their personality   or anything you're gonna say well I'd like to  go out with the guy with you you're absolutely   right exactly right I think we would all be lying  if we were just being Hypocrites because you're   not admitting it you don't want to admit it on  national television and I will okay all right what   do you want to say quickly I have a question for  you you're a dancer right the guys that you meet   where do you meet them at are they all they all  come to your club and watch you dance no there's   this one like really nice bar like Delilah stand  in Philly because I'm from Philly and they come   to this bar and like um you know like I used to I  I met a football player there you know and I was   with him for a long time before he signed contract  you know and once he signed his contract he like   threw me off and stuff so I'm sick of that I want  something better for myself you know once you get   a job and buy your own liquor you know what  you go to bars and you jerk no I got a drink   too I get paid to be at these boards all right  if I took a taxi cab okay and the taxi driver   wanted to take me off the coffee or something  I want to turn him down because he may own his   own taxi service you know he may own the thing  so I never States Mike says   that Celia pays for everything and is hoping  that she'll pay for his trip to Europe with   her in December Celia says that it really isn't  as bad as it seems Mike is nicer than most gold   diggers and she doesn't mind paying for him at  all well thank you for coming here and being so   honest pleasure now you said that you he's nicer  than most gold diggers so if you've had other gold   diggers well I've dated guys before that I didn't  realize were only after me for my money but then   it transpires the world but this guy's honest  but but you are in a sense after her money well   firstly I like well we met at a nightclub  he didn't know I had any money and   um things progressed when it starts when it starts  you know you generally have money with you that's   why I have a part-time job but then when there  when they're hooked you know so you must be like   really good in bed right so unlike the ladies you  do perform sexual acts with Celia yes definitely   we are an item you are an item okay now I'm  curious to know have you made gold digging part   of your life I mean is this you know originally  when I started you know hanging out with these   women I just have a lousy job you know I hate my  job I want to work as little as possible so when   I originally hang out with them I do have money  but then by the time you know if you're with them   for a couple of weeks and they realize you don't  have money but they still want to spend time with   you they enjoy what we're doing you know at night  they're going to stay with them and during the you   know what did you see that little look Celia gave  you what line of work are you in basilia aren't   you worth more than that don't you deserve a guy  that's gonna actually it's not just the bedroom   thing he's got a lot of the nice qualities too  what are some of those nice questions it looks   after me like I can't cook I'm not feminine in  that respect yeah you know it does everything   apart from have finances hey this is 1993 what  man wouldn't want a woman taken care of exactly   I was just gonna say I look at all these guys and  when they came out and they're all smiling this   guy in the front smiling these guys are like yeah  you know now it's on the other foot they totally   don't see it as wrong if if the guy is doing  that to the girl but yeah you're right what an   interesting observation if the woman does it she's  a [ __ ] but if the man does it he's a stud and   he's smart exactly that is a double standard  in society today interesting all right when   we do they really know a man with money when they  see one we thought we'd have a little fun testing   their gold digging abilities now behind our  millionaire door are five handsome men one of   them I repeat only one of them is a real honest  to goodness eligible wealthy Bachelor the other   four are lying now your job ladies gold diggers  is to identify the one with the biggest wallet now   the prize for this is a beautiful diamond ring  look everyone isn't it beautiful and possibly   a date with a man who has what you're looking  for gentlemen why don't you come on out [Music] I love this part of the show okay now each of the  women has one question for the guys and they will   all answer that same question so let's start with  Jennifer Jennifer what is your question what do   you do for a living I own a chain of car washes  in New Jersey I'm a musical producer and assistant   engineer here in New York and in LA I'm a partner  in a family-owned real estate firm I have a public   relations firm I'm a part of the large advertising  company thanks what do you spend your money on   find restaurants and art ooh  I travel as much as possible   I just bought a boat off the coast of Florida  so I spend most of my money there I travel look   at properties and buy real estate I travel for  adventure and spend my money on Jazz tapes on   what excuse me on what Jazz takes Jazz okay all  right okay what about you expensive gift you ever   bought a woman most expensive gift oh I bought  her a round-trip ticket to Hawaii for two weeks what about you Bastion number two I put a   woman up at Huntington Beach in Los  Angeles California for three months I bought a diamond bracelet   I'd have to say an engagement ring that  didn't quite work out the same the same   okay Laura in the winter I get very cold what  warm vacations that would you risk me off to the Greek Islands   um I usually go to a place in Bermuda called  Churchill Bay which is real nice in the winter   um it would have to be the U.S Virgin Islands  there's a there's a place out there on Saint   John I believe and it's called Camille Bay  and that's uh that's where I take I'm sorry   that you get cold because I have a beautiful  house in Vermont but it's warmed by the fire it can only be the French Riviera and finally Beth okay gentlemen we can all see  that you're wearing the same suit which by the way   all five of you look just Splendid in however my  question is what kind of underwear are you wearing um Calvin Klein thong underwear [Applause]  yeah boy I wish I had X-ray vision being the nature of my job and I'm in the studio  all the time I usually don't wear underwear wow what kind of underwear am I wearing why  don't we just go back to my place [Applause] batch number four I have
